Brownhill hugging O’Neill and chatting away. Have they played together?

Sarmiento and Anthony pronto for a start, please. Those plus Whittaker and no one leaving, and we may get away with it.

You know what, how many players that played tonight were regulars last season? Brownhil & Foster. It was a complete new team and it’s going to take time. We HAVE to add to the attacking force otherwise it’s going to be a long season.

Surely this is Parker vs Kompany approach to the players who appear on the various shortlists etc?claretspice wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 7:11 pmThe increasingly notable thing about our strategy is that not only are we selling virtually all of Kompany’s overseas signings, we're also looking in a very different market for replacements. The only analytics led potential "gems" signed thus far are Hountondji and Pires who arrived early in the window. Anthony (should he sign), Humphrys, Hannibal, and the various links to Whittaker, Sarmiento, Johnston and Laurent etc are all much more conventional signings in terms where they are sourced from. It's a real shift.
I agree with Dandeclaret about Laurent incidentally- if he's midfield cover who adds character in the squad, I'm fine with that. It's about building a squad culture that drives itself and we badly lacked that last season.

I wonder if we can get the club to play that Greenday song on Saturday to walk out to, what’s it called, let me think…

Hopefully Anthony is signed before cut off. Did someone say he’s already been training with us? I’d start him on Saturday if so.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
With a lot of our outgoings, if we'd had adequate replacements in prior or lined up the fans would've been fine with most of them. Foster 25m? Nice one, see you later and hello Whittaker for 9 million. Vitinho 7 million? Absolutely see you later, and welcome back Jacob Bruun Larsen for the same (or similar(. I find it so weird we're obviously open to selling absolutely anyone, without sure things lined up.
Anyway, old ground. Boring myself getting annoyed at it. I hope to God I'm eating massive humble pie by Friday and Alan Pace is revered like a God for landing 6 unbelievable signings in 24 hours.

You’re missing a couple of centre forwards, a left back and another midfielder on that list. We’re still way short.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:36 pmLaurent (as backup)

Humphreys was excellent at left back tonight and we’re paying £12m for him, no idea why people want another left back. He could start for me.

Centre Midfield choices of Brownhill, Cullen, Massengo, Hanibal are fine by me.willsclarets wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:49 pmThe defence is absolutely fine. It's everywhere else that's not
We do need some width though
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Id argue central midfield is now looking strong. Cullen is a key player, probably the most important in the team, and he’s missed the last two. Cullen, Brownhill, Massengo, Hannibal, Laurent (possibly), Ramsey (when fit) - there aren’t any stronger midfields in the league?willsclarets wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:49 pmThe defence is absolutely fine. It’s obv out wide that’s the issue mainly, particularly without Koleosho. It’s completely mad that we are saying out wide is such an issue when we’ve had so many wingers but here we are. If he leaves we probably need 3 if not 4, now that Vitinho is leaving.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We have
Roberts
Sambo
Esteve
Humphries
Worrall
McNally
Pires
Egan-Riley
To come back:
Ekdal
Delcroix
Beyer
Are you telling me there isn't a top 6 championship defence in that lot? Ok, now let's have a think about attacking players...did you not see we have absolutely no one we could play wide right or left tonight?!

Nixon posting on Patreon that B@stards are in for young Brighton winger. I don't sub so don't know if it is Sarmiento.

That second goal was an athletic shape issue from one of our central defenders

Dara o'Shea and a strong looking (well, containing a number of their new signings) Ipswich have just been ****** out of the cup by Wimbledon.
How have they managed to come up with a transfer strategy that's worse than ours?

Yeah, I liked Humphreys. Very promising and composed on the ball.
Pires on the other hand….. which is why we might need something more in that area.

They prepared management accounts at least monthly, and virtually all the annual income and expenses are known by the end of May. They have an accurate picture of the financial position before the year end.Down_Rover wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 7:33 pmThey would not have had the draft accounts as early as July. As I said probably only recently

Billing wasn’t in Bournemouth’s 20 players tonight. So unless he’s injured he’s clearly not in the plans of the manager there.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Yeah I'd agree there. With Hannibal coming in we look ok there and if that Laurent comes in as back up grand, tick CM off. Totally agree wide positions, and I'd argue a striker too. We just don't have enough goals in the side at all. Jay looks shot in all honesty, Foster isn't a goalscorer as such and Houtandji needs time clearly. Amdouni would've given them to us I think but he's naffed off.RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:52 pmId argue central midfield is now looking strong. 3 wide players and a striker would be brilliant (assuming no one leaves)
