Agreed RV. We do have strength in CB roles and its hard to choose Humphreys, Esteve, Worral and also McNally and EJ are not bad either.
Correct and if we sign Josh Laurent, we would have brownhill Cullen Massengo Hannibal and Laurent, which again is more than enough strength in the middle of the pitch

Benson and another right winger
Anthony and koleosho
Would as good as any group of wingers in the league

Just striker / number 10 we are seriously lacking quality to rely on foster if he stays

Has all the Koleosho links died down? Wasn't he supposedly unhappy because we had rejected a bid from Wolves? It's hard to know what is true anymore. I know he hasn't been featured the last two games, supposedly through injury, but I don't even know what is true from the club anymore either.

Massive two days

Massive ask for a club known for struggling over the years to get deals done
In fairness the club have shown that they can deals done very quickly since the Kompany era. Far less so before that. Guess we'll see how different things will be now without the pull factor of Kompany

As a side note I think it’s really clear that we are targeting a different character of player this season.

To quote our ex academy manager, we seem to be targeting “good pros” this time.

Hasn’t Benson downed tools? Would be surprised if he plays for us again. Does Koleosho have an injury? I don’t usually query things like this but the last few weeks have shown me otherwise.

After last night, to be honest I think we're better off shut of Foster. What a mope. Even if we can get Cannon on loan I'd prefer that.

If that's the case it makes you wonder why character, loyalty and professionalism aren't included in the metrics that have been used to sign players recently

If the reports of 5m euros for weghorst and 9m euros for Vitinho are true then there should be absolutely no reason at all why we can’t throw 10m at Whittaker with all the other outgoings we have had

Cannon got 8 goals in 20 appearances for Preston so he has something about him. He has only got 2 in 13 for Leicester but not sure how many of those will have been sub appearances.

At this point if we can keep Esteves, Koleosho and Brownhill and bring in a couple of strikers who can actually score then I'll be reasonably happy.

I'm not bothered about Amdouni,Trafford and Foster going if they bring in good money to buy replacements. As much as Foster looks good when playing well he isn't a goalscorer and Jay is a bench warmer at best now. I actually think Foster would be better as a 10 with a goalscorer alongside him.

Spot on. 48 hours left and all quiet at the moment is not encouraging. Having said that Parker basically guaranteed there would be incomings, it's just a case of what level these replacements are. The only one I've been excited about is Whittaker.
All you can do is wait & see. From the sounds of it the groundworks been done on a couple, leaving it this late on with the numbers required you are spinning plates especially if my groundwork assumption is flawed. It's a very strange setup.

After Vitinho (7m), Amdouni (13.5m) and Weghorst (3m), that will bring the running total of sales/income from VK to £126.5m (base) - £140m (inc add ons).

I actually did a rough calculation based from relegation in 2022. Once the Vitinho sale is complete we will be around 18m in profit in regards to player trading. Suppose when you factor in running the club and the loans the owners took out, it’s no surprise that we don’t actually have much to spend

I think fans need to forget Benson. With VK it appeared personal but when SP ignores him also there is more to this than we know. Sad cos he lit up the place.

Ultimately that doesn’t take into account the considerable income we have earned over that time as well.

We will have earned circa 250m since that time period.

It also feels like the team have been told to look in Britain and leave Europe alone. Too many from Europe is probably why this has happened but there is nothing wrong in one or two, and there must be decent forward players somewhere. Don't know if he is good enough, or would come if he is, but Denkey from Cercle Brugge scored 28 in 39 games last season. Value is 16m Euros according to Transfermarket.

We need to get rid Benson …. Foster …. Trafford… and Koloesho if he wants out. Try to keep the rest.
And we Must sign a striker as an absolute necessity… we need goals to win games.

That’s why I said it was 18m profit on player trading. The 250m you say we have earned includes transfer fees we have paid, wages, running the club and paying the loans back. Doesn’t leave much left, I’m saying I can see why we aren’t spending.

Doesn’t make it right though, a club that had all those seasons in the prem, one year out and then back in again, sell 140m worth of players and be struggling financially

You’d be happy for us to get rid of four more players and just bring the one in? Did you see our squad last night? We still need about five signings.

No that 250m is excluding any transfers.

Sponsors, tv money, parachute payments.

The club has made a shed load of money and should not be struggling financially.

That’s not true, we used the tv money last season on the transfers.

Where do you think the club magically found 100m, they took a loan on the prem tv money to sign players

You’re talking about expenses I’m talking about revenue.

Either way the transfers have balanced out, so where has the 250m of revenue gone now that the transfer book equals out.

Before anyone says it, I know these are very back of a fag packet finances but I think the over arching theme is accurate.

Foster wasn't great last night but he can't do anything with no service.

The problem area of the pitch right now is the three in behind the striker..

I'd be looking to reintegrate Benson by whatever means, forcing Koleosho to stay and pouring our efforts into attacking backup.

Hladky
Roberts Esteve Worrall Pires/Humpries
Mejbri Cullen
Benson/Anthony Brownhill Koleosho
Foster

Is or could be a promotion winning team and will have too much in the tank for the majority of teams in the league

It's the strength in depth that's gonna **** us.

Without it going into a financial thread, all the money we bring in sponsorship and the rest of it, it all goes to running the club also.

The underlying issue is we have had to many loans and had to pay them off with interest.

There is absolutely no way that if we had safe finances we would be scratching around trying to sign plymouths best player on loan with an option to buy

IF that is true then it shows what kind of lad he is. We give him a chance in English football, he spends more than half a season injured whilst getting paid a bloody good wage. Then when it comes time to pay us back he spits his dummy out.

Every one of those players in the starting lineup is mid table or better. We're still left with a side which could compete for promotion.

It still lacks a cutting edge for goals but will win more than it will lose.

A few of you should have a trip over to the financial threads and also go on the official burnley site and look at the last accounts.
Not saying it will necessarily make you feel better but at least you might get a basic understanding.

In terms of transfer spend under the new owners you cannot omit the £100m or so brought in when we first got relegated and also reducing the wage bill down from £90m plus to less than £30m (at its lowest point).
Obviously that feels a long time ago and I am not saying things are all fine (very clearly they are not) but it does have relevance to financial position that followed.

But as said this stuff is better left for the other threads and if you ask questions on there you usually get helpful answers

If a player refuses to play, are we entitled to suspend their pay? I hope so.

Way too many people posting hearsay on here about player’s conduct.

One throw away comment suddenly becomes gospel and a player is castigated for something which nobody knows if it’s true or not.

People need to wind their necks in.

I've heard that one of the main reasons we're struggling to get signings in, is that Pace sold the fax machine down at Cash Converters last week

IF that is true then it shows what kind of lad he is. We give him a chance in English football, he spends more than half a season injured whilst getting paid a bloody good wage. Then when it comes time to pay us back he spits his dummy out.
Agreed its inexcusable and shows no respect for our club and what we did for him. Clubs from time to time gets a player that behaves this way, however in the last few weeks BFC has had Koleosho, Wout, Amdouini, Benson, Zaroury, Vitinho,Muric,Berge,Foster, Tresor (maybe Del-crock) I suspect Beyer too. all seemingly wanting to get out. Some of them showing it in extreme ways. Thats absolutely **** recruitment by ourselves-and I have to say this, none of them are from this country

It's Johnston.

How f'ing hard is it to get players' names right, especially when you link to an article about them?

I'm glad he's not coming for that reason alone.

Koleosho has an injury apparently. But maybe that's the same injury Berge had before he played for Fulham a couple of days after leaving us.

Don't have a clue what's going on with Benson but I know our team looks stronger with him in the squad. It'd be a real shame if he's either downed tools or isn't favoured, given the impact he can have to change games and frighten the opposition's defenders when they think they've done a job for 60 minutes in a match.

I'd be delighted if we somehow keep both. I'd be gutted if we sold Benson to a Championship rival.

I really think all these unfounded claims and counterclaims are doing a disservice to this thread. Better to resist and stop spreading fertiliser when it's not needed.

Absolutely this..... 100%.

"I heard he refused to play last night"... then all of a sudden, pitch forks come out and people are blazing up their lanterns!!! Just adds to the toxicity of it all.

Unless it's fact keep it to yourselves. Some saying he had a knock and then before we know it he gets booed on Saturday when his name gets read out.

Unless SP says he is refusing to play, as seems the case with Benny, keep it to yourselves. You are feeding the ambition of our opponents by creating division.
