They’re supposedly money men….. They should be all over the numbers.

If you were going to ask someone, why the Academy Manager? Doesn’t stack up for me.
No it doesn’t.

I think Sacha mentioned a few weeks ago that we had looked to use an intermediary in the market to shift players on, but it hadn’t worked.

Perhaps this was a document knocked up in the absence of a manager to give the intermediary a starting point.

We’ll probably never know.

My opinion, and it’s only my opinion, is that the board/Pace have asked the Academy Manager to draw up the list so they can identify what to do in the transfer market in the absence of having a manager at the time.

Edit- and the fact he has resigned instead of being sacked.
It refers to ‘they’ should have took( ;) the money etc by which I assume he means the board so my guess is not them. Maybe someone else senior/new…

In the meantime having now seen it, Im sure it won’t have helped but I'm pretty sure it is not the smoking gun which triggered the mass sell off. Which makes me worry more about our financial position

Could it have been written for Parker’s benefit?

What when he had Bellamy and Jackson to brief him?

Unlikely I know, but perhaps Parker asked several coaches for a report on the squad, or maybe he wanted a view from someone who wasn’t within Kompany’s ‘inner circle’. Who knows.

I’m sure he would have done his research on all the players at the interview stage.

Agree entirely. Bizarre. On headed notepaper as well,so more than general musings (assuming this is the original I suppose?)
Anyone could copy that on to headed paper, even me at a push :D

I’m sure he will have done. But at some point you would expect him to have asked people within the club for their thoughts on the squad members.

Another thought is that he’s done a shady ‘favour’ for a representative from another club’s recruitment team. But surely he wouldn’t have been stupid enough to put it on the club’s letterhead, on second thoughts…

That would make no sense though, since they had a) Mooney, who had all the data to hand, b) Bellamy/Jackson who had actually trained these guys, c) Jenkins, this guys boss - all of whom

He also constantly refers to his employer as ‘they’, not ‘we’ or ‘us’. Obviously a mole, giving someone the inside track.

The only explanation here is that another agent wanted the lowdown on who we might sell and how much for and he’s been a mole in the camp.

Being honest though, I’m struggling to believe this whole thing:

1. Why would he put an informal/Whatsapp communication on letter headed paper?
2. Surely as a football person you would provider a deeper technical assessment of players? This sounds like a guy talking down the pub. He doesn’t even offer a veneer of knowledge on the players - their strengths, weaknesses, stats.
3. Everything in that letter was in the public domain - the fees, the injuries, their ex clubs, etc. Anyone really interested could’ve found out that information within minutes.

I can't imagine a reason why any other club's recruitment team would not just ask for info on specific players.

He probably resigned out of embarrassment more than anything.

It’s like something a 12 year old would put together.

Hi, it’s Brentford here, is Benson a good trainer?

BFC: No, he’s a lazy b@stard.

He even has the temerity to justify the introductory paragraph centrally, affording it a sense of authority and prestige that the content fails to deliver.

Hi it's Brentford here (no, not the nylons manufacturer, you pillock, the PL Football Club) we're thinking of buying one of your players, could you please send info on the entire squad? Thanks. :D

Maybe he was asked to draw up a business plan for the bank for our next lot of borrowing.

Same, its written with zero level of professional expertise. It's basically what I'd expect to see written on here and not by one of our brighter posters.

Also worth pointing out to people that the colour behind the texts suggests that this text has been copied from pictures (image to text software, maybe of the original Whatsapp message) into a word document, that has then been screenshot multiple times. This definitely isn't the original form of anything that was created.
In fact it looks like something a child would create trying to emulate what an official Burnley FC document would look like.

Is that the actual document and not something very shitty looking someone has put together using the quotes from The Sun?

It's not been typed out on WhatsApp, has it?
Looks like an attachment of a photograph.

Only a couple of players would be annoyed about that doc, surely?

Big swing and miss on Egan-Riley but hard to quibble with much of it.

Would be difficult to put a good spin on that for MTB3.

As folks have already said it was poorly written but not far off the money. Couple of notable wrongs Egan Riley for example, but not many of us saw the lads rise to excellence so quickly. The line about McNally was unnecessary as there have been many players who don’t fit into “looks like a super athlete” who have had excellent careers.

There’s a lot in there that, would cause instant irritation but unless you are terminally lazy or mad as a box of frogs, then once you’d thought about it as a player, most would have thought “bllx to that clown and his opinion”
