If I was a player, I would really be concerned about signing for Burnley atm, especially if I had other options.

But we shall see.
We need at least 3 or 4 new players by tomorrow. Seems unlikely, but we wait...
If I was a player I'd want to go to a club where I would play
Daft thing is 3 weeks ago some of the players linked might have been reluctant to come here, when they might have struggled to even get on the bench

It's a little different now.

I do wonder with Sarmiento if it suited us for him to get 70 minutes match sharpness. Maybe we were a bit late to get him completed for Wolves? Alternately, there could be pieces still to resolve in either club, like us needing to ensure Amdouni was out. Touch wood all is now resolved because we need him badly. I would personally keep Foster if his head is focused because our front line then wouldn’t be a big downgrade on the first two games (Odobert maybe being a tad better than Sarmiento but only a tad).

If we could get the original Championship Brentford Maupay, i would be all in trying to get him now.

Feel we also still need another left back and i've seen very few links for one which is concerning.

Really hoping Whittaker happens too!

I'm fine with Sarmiento being a replacement for Odobert at this level but there's a huge difference in ability between the two players. Which is why Odobert was sold to one of the big 6 (and straight into the starting lineup) for £30m and the other is being loaned to the Championship by Brighton.

Humphreys has the capabilities to play as left back.

From what I saw in the first half last night Egan-Riley inverted in to the midfield and we created a 3 at the back of Humphreys Worrall and mcNally when on the attack . Roberts did this role under Kompany albeit with another attacking fullback on the other side. If we can get the attacking players in this could be something we see utilised .

If you check the stats for Maupay the only club where he hasn’t scored goals regularly is at Everton. I recall Everton creating 3 clear cut chances in one game, all falling to Maupay, and he didn’t convert any of them.
Everton then loaned him back to Brentford for a brief spell and he started scoring goals again.

This, Odobert is levels above Sarmiento but given where we are in the window, I’ve come around to being really relieved he’s signing.

Josh Laurent done deal (Mike McGrath).

Let's hope it's just to strengthen our numbers and not replace Brownhill.

Sacha: Negotiations ongoing between Ipswich and Burnley for Foster.

To me, this looks like his agent saying: "Come and get him". Obviously there's nothing close because he played yesterday and not sure he'd be in squad if he refused to play. Ipswich also looking at other strikers.

Exactly this, some of the comments I have read aimed at Foster (not on here before some dive in) calling him a c**t, w***er and other abusive names which seems to have come about because a story broke about Ipswich being interested and then hearsay about he hasn't trained or is sulking are really poor. Some of these probably then hammered again for not applauding the fans last night.

If he has seen the comments which I find it hard to imagine he hasn't is it any wonder he doesn't rush over and say cheers.

Much of Odobert is potential though. He has a huge ceiling, but on a wet Championship December midweek what would he be like? I bet inconsistent. That’s all I’m saying. I try my best not to rubbish new incomings if I can, I see this one being fine. I’d have kept Odobert of course given the chance.

Funny but tbf, they are probably playing a good game.

I can’t see us turning down any kind of offer that delivers even a small profit if they make it tomorrow. It’s clear we’re either skint or trying to rid the whole squad from any Kompany signings.

If true, the family silver is being sold off and replaced with tin plate replicas.

Josh leaving would be in line with selling off all of the players that scored in the opening 2 matches.

Probably go back in for him at the death when we have nobody else and be told to do one.
Or - with no other options - we'll finally pay them what they want, believed to be £10 million.
They need to sell him as I understand it.

Selling Trafford, although id be happy if he stayed would be the least of our worries. We've got enough capable keepers.

The Foster thing, we have to remember the way these multi millionaire agents use social media, via their pawns the “transfer gurus”, to manipulate and stir the pot. They are actively trying to cause discontent. I wouldn’t even put it past them to have fake accounts too starting fake rumours like “player x has refused to train”. They are the lowest of the low.

Of course the player may at times be complicit in this. But they are a pawn too for their agent’s mass wealth building empire.

Let’s not pan our players until we know for sure if something is true.

I don't think people actually do. It's just a lazy way of people saying that club revenue is going to pay off debts created by the owners purchase of the club. Whereas for many other clubs that we are competing with, the revenue will go in to improving the club.

I've folloowed Laurent's career reasonably closely.

I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it again, it is an awful signing unless he is a reserve. He is a manager sacker. He is capable of everything but he is just another mmissing player in far too many performances. Browny is 10x as valuable, if not more.

Why do we think Stoke are prepared to let their "captain" walk?

If we want a potter, we should be looking at Berger. He is a difference maker.

I must admit, I’m really struggling to see what Laurent adds to this squad.

Got to imagine he’s fifth choice based on who we already have. As long as he’s being brought in as a squad player and not replace Cullen or Brownhill I guess it can work.

He’s mid to low end championship player.

Brownhill, Cullen, Hannibal, Ramsey, Massengo.

If Laurent is to be added to that, you would imagine Brownhill will be gone. If not, you would hope transfer budget is being spent on areas of genuine need, ie. Wide men, a number 10, and a CF

Maybe sometimes players just need a.change, SP obviously sees something in him..Afield was labeled all of the above and was superb for us, our own fans slated Chris Wood who's gone on to continue scoring Premier League goals.

If this lad is now a Claret, and he's prepared to come with all this change going on, that's good enough for me for my unwavering support

If we want a potter, we should be looking at Berger. He is a difference maker.

Sounds like what Sheffield United fans were saying about Sander before we bought him
Except no one said that about Berge.

Guy that usually tells me bits of information from his family member said that yesterday the club were behind extra cautious about staff at the training ground. The fact the article made it to the sun won’t of sat well with the club

Brownhill, Cullen, Hannibal, Ramsey, Massengo.

If Laurent is to be added to that, you would imagine Brownhill will be gone. If not, you would hope transfer budget is being spent on areas of genuine need, ie. Wide men, a number 10, and a CF
One of those is injured long term still, and one is very inexperienced..Maybe that's why SP has gone for Laurent to add a bit of knowhow..

LongsideClaret has been quiet.
Perhaps he's been rumbled as a mole.

Pace has caught his source and has him tied up in a ww2 bunker under Gawthorpe. loose lips sink ships.

Unlike a lot of fans who say their player is rubbish when they are being sold, Stoke fans on Oatcake have not had a lot of good things to say about Laurent for quite a while. I think he infuriates them because he can play but only one game out of a number of games. Hope Scotty can make him consistant.
