This is the other reason we need leaders in.1989_claret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 11:47 amOr unfortunately go AWOL and be fined or cry to the PFA.
Get half a dozen of those and players get kept in line by the group. Some of these guys (e.g. Worrall) have seen it all before. Can we imagine some of the clowns Forest bought who other players would need to “straighten out”? Some real primadonnas there.

Because Jay and Hountondji are more number 9's and they are both being played out of position to suit Foster atm. We are crying out for a direct wide option in the mould of Nathan Tella, especially with he way Parker sets up his teams.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:05 pmWhy they don’t even play the same position
Like saying I would swap Brownhill for Maupay
Would ideally like another number 9 as well ideally but not holding out much hope.

I get your point, for the record though Whittaker isn’t even remotely similar to tella IMO.Ric_C wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:12 pmBecause Jay and Hountondji are more number 9's and they are both being played out of position to suit Foster atm. More like Amdouni if I was going to make a comparison
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Jay played up front as a number 9 last night he was as bad if not worse than any other performance he'd put in this season 'out of position'Ric_C wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:12 pmBecause Jay and Hountondji are more number 9's and they are both being played out of position to suit Foster atm. Left wondering if I watched a different team 2 seasons ago when I see how many of our players were deemed crap by some on here. Jay scored 9 in his first 17 last season and now just written off as if he did nothing.burnley007 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:18 pmHe was crap 2 seasons ago, he has declined a lot since then.

He was excellent 2 seasons ago, first 17 games he was contending for the golden boot. He got injured, which has always been his problem.burnley007 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:18 pmHe was crap 2 seasons ago, he has declined a lot since then.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Think the obvious problem with Jay now is that his legs have largely left him at this level.
He could have a useful role to play in the last 10-15 when the opposition has as heavy legs as he does, with his nous and finishing ability, but it's not his fault at all that we're having to rely on him and worse yet, ask for 60-70 mins from him.
Come on now. You can't be mithering on about these weak minded fools running off at the first chance they get, talking about loyalty, but then giving the likes of Jay grief when he's trying to do his best for us in a tricky situation. Let's have a bit of right.

Doesn't matter what he did two years ago, two years and a few injuries at his age can be the difference.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:22 pmHe was excellent 2 seasons ago, first 17 games he was contending for the golden boot. He got injured, which has always been his problem.
He's 35 had a lot of injuries, he can't turn, he can't run and he offers nothing in front of goal.
I'd like nothing more than him to come off the bench Saturday and bag the winner if it was his parting gift.

It says between £8m and £10m so we are getting close to what they want, hopefully.

It's gone very quiet with regard to Tresor. A link to Nice a few days back but nothing since unless I've missed something. Wonder how far away he is from regaining fitness.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I was looking round social media late last night but couldn't find anything other than the link to Nice.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
If it is another loan leading to an optional fee if we go up, it will be rejected. They need the money now.

Just pay the £10m, get the medical done in London and have him signed pre midday tomorrow so he is available Saturday.

Playing up front pressing and chasing the ball isn’t going to work for Jay anymore. But he’ll do his best when asked.
However of we are chasing a game, needing a goal and pumping lots of balls into the box then i would still back him to come iff the bench and do a job for us, as hes intelligent and can finish.

Good news. Glad to hear it. Sure someone on here will come along soon with a snarky comment about how we'll never see him again he's downed tools not good enough etc etc, but would be good to see him reintegrate and come into the reckoning as another attacking option. Bit of a forgotten man.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:41 pmIn Burnley express today it says Tresor is back training with the group

At this point having Tresor back can only be a good thing.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Agreed. If we want to sell him for a profit, then he needs to be in the shop window.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:44 pmGood news. Glad to hear it. With Tresor (and maybe Benny) you would hope that if they don’t go Parker will sit down with them and say look give me your all until Christmas and if an acceptable offer comes in for you then you can leave if you want. Tell them to look at Summerville and Rutter to see what a good year in the champ can do for your career.

Christ almighty Pace, just bloody pay it, surely after all the money we've raked in it's not like we're scrabbling around for the odd couple of million to make up what they want. (Providing they're willing to sell).
It's too late to play who-blinks-first.

£5m or nothing ?
In some ways I could understand it if we could get an incoming loan as part of any deal

Hard agree with this as well. Anyone that's wanting away really - give us 6 months, get your head down, give us a fighting chance and if an offer comes in I'll accept it no questions asked.KlyBfc wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:48 pmWith Tresor (and maybe Benny) you would hope that if they don’t go Parker will sit down with them and say look give me your all until Christmas and if an acceptable offer comes in for you then you can leave if you want. Do they not realise that there is 'UK football tax' on English players from teams in this country. You can't get them as cheap as you can abroad.

They must realise that if they are struggling to get moves at the minute, the only way to improve that is to play well in the Championship.KlyBfc wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:48 pmWith Tresor (and maybe Benny) you would hope that if they don’t go Parker will sit down with them and say look give me your all until Christmas and if an acceptable offer comes in for you then you can leave if you want. Tresor could be huge for us, but I said that about Odobert, then I said it about Amdouni...etc

£10m seems a pretty reasonable figure to me for a player proven at this level, with age on his side.

The top managers have said it can take a year for players to settle into a new country but fans give them about 5 games before they start having a go. Smaller squad might be better for him as there won't be cliques.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Assuming only a couple leave and some injured players return, we will actually have a decent squad and potentially a really good side.
Still loads of wide attacking options: Koleosho (or Whittaker if he goes), Benson, Agyei, Tessor. Redmond as back-up.
Still enough centre backs for a 7 a side team.
Best central midfield combo in the league (pick from Brownhill, Cullen, Massengo, Hannibal).
Strikers a bit light, but maybe one or two more to come, (I've heard Ashley Barnes is lined up for Saturday....)
Let's get behind Parker and the team. Up the Clarets!!
