Train to Millwall
Train to Millwall
Was still hoping to get to this one but LNER have just announced strikes on basically every weekend from September through to mid November, so train from Leeds is a no go.
Given the prices to go from Manchester or Preston with Avanti its looking like i'll be watching in the pub now, bit gutted as i've never been to the Den.

Re: Train to Millwall
Why not travel on Grand Central trains, you can even get it from Halifax to Kings X

Re: Train to Millwall
Grand Central are an option but they only have a fleet of 12 trains, plus, only the London > Bradford trains stop at Halifax.
I looked into them for Sunderland away as I live down south and get travel facilities with them, but no direct train back after FT.
Re: Train to Millwall
It looks like they have changed their routes then as I’ve travelled on their service from Halifax to Kings X a couple of years ago.MiltonKeynesClaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 8:27 pmGrand Central are an option but they only have a fleet of 12 trains, plus, only the London > Bradford trains stop at Halifax.

Re: Train to Millwall
At last some good news on the travel front.
ASLEF have called off their weekend strikes, so it looks like Millwall away is back on for me, Darlington to Kings Cross. Unlike Avanti, LNER run a near-normal timetable on Sundays.

Re: Train to Millwall
how much is train please from either preston or manchester?
Re: Train to Millwall
Various prices depending on time of travel. You need to check on internet.
I have 3 choices from Birmingham, Avanti, London Northwestern or Chiltern. So I often find a decent deal for London games.
Last London match I did was Chelsea away last season and went to London Marylebone from Birmingham return for £21.
Re: Train to Millwall
Then you will need to catch tube to London Bridge and then short train journey to South Bermondsey.
You can book straight to South Bermondsey and Tube is then included in ticket price. However it is often far more expensive to do this. Better to split your journey and just use contactless on Tube.

Re: Train to Millwall
Off-peak advance fares from Avanti are often reasonable. Living in Solihull near Birmingham International I have the choice of Avanti, Cross-Country and LNWR for my trips to Burnley, and Avanti, Chiltern and LNWR for trips to London. Only Chiltern has a decent reliability reputation though, as the West Coast main line to London Euston has all sorts of issues from the HS2 construction works and from running at capacity throughout the day.
Re: Train to Millwall
Apparently there is an helicopter service between Millwall and Burnley with Pace offer Meet and Greet
