Are we now a settled more happy squad?
Some very astute and impressive incomings like Laurent, Worrall, Anthony, Hannibal, Sarmiento. Very impressed with their baptisms of fire v Rovers.
Just solely in my opinion, I still have reservations about the loyalties of mainly Benson, but reading disturbing notes in the media only, that Koleosho, Foster and Trafford were disappointed at not having moved on last week.
I truly hope I am soooo wrong as the squad looks very very good on paper and now with the addition of Zian Flemming.
Things are looking so much more positive with a feel good factor and promotion is very realistic now.

You'd like to think that Foster and Koleosho would just get on with it now, seen as they missed vast parts of last season

Didn't see any lack of effort or commitment from the three you mention on Saturday.

If any of them want a move, the best way is to show other teams that they're worth investing in. Sulking will get them nowhere.

I think its a fair assumption that if you or I saw a glimpse of that kind of money increase and security in our chosen professions and then it didn't happen then I guess we would be bound to feel a bit of disappointment to put it mildly. However they will be getting sound professional advice which they will most likely take and crack on. Think those three will be fine. Not sure about Benson unfortunately due to injury which will further impact his ability to get productive game and showcase time. seems to be on tough spiral at the moment. It Is What It Is wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 12:04 pmbut reading disturbing notes in the media only, that Koleosho, Foster and Trafford were disappointed at not having moved on last week.

Re: Are we now a settled more happy squad?
As a fan, it has been one of the most intense couple of weeks.
I got to the point of trying to judge the club as we progressed because it was becoming quite difficult to not be influenced by what I can only class as toxic behaviour that was breeding across social media towards players and the ownership.
In answer to your question - I have no idea if they are now a settled and happy squad but as someone has said above me we need everyone on board the same train even regardless of where their heads were prior to Friday.
Everyone now needs to play for the shirt, the town, and realise that the best thing anyone can do for the careers and future prospects is act professionally and come in and work hard and do their best to support this seasons performances - whether it be on the field, in training, from the bench or whatever.
I genuinely believe that we have a decent squad and we just need time now but with around a dozen of the squad having previously been in teams that have been promoted from this league and a manager that has done it twice, we are in a good place.
We also need the fans to get into a settled and more positive place. Hopefully will come through winning but we need to drop the over analysis of situations none of us will ever fully understand and accept that the owners and manager will do the best for the club in consideration of all the facts that they have.

If they knuckle down I think they’ll realise how important it was for them to take a season in the second tier.

Re: Are we now a settled more happy squad?
Settled? They had less than 12 hours together before playing in a derby game, talk about baptism of fire.
Some of these lads would have been friends and good colleagues, understanding how they work and play, routines etc with the lads who have left. And then broken up after a full preseason with some new lads coming in. It will have been totally disruptive. It's going to take time (and I'm talking months really) in order for them to gel, particularly that midfield with so many options.
You've got two very experienced leaders in Brownhill and Worrall who need to work well together in the say way Berge and Cullen did 2 years ago. I think up front is where it gets complicated for me, Foster doesn't seem to know his role, whether he is sitting deeper because of Parker or by himself. Hopefully a fit for Billing comes in for some nice link up play with Foster and they get a good report with Koleosho and Anthony. All of this will take time.,
I'm hoping the international break allows them to have a mini-preseaon somewhere abroad for a few days with an emphasis on team building and getting to know each other and their personalities. I think this will be key for our success this season more than anything is a camaraderie and resilience like we had under Kompany's first season and will be crucial for teams (like we had against Barstools) who are willing to just park the bus and strive for a counter.

Re: Are we now a settled more happy squad?
You'd like to think so. Some who possibly might want away could knuckle down and get their wish in January, but after the Sunderland debacle it certainly seemed like a more coherent unit.

If Mission to Burnley 2 is owt to go off, we couldn't help but be happier since Vinny slung his hook.

Re: Are we now a settled more happy squad?
Yes I know, which is why I said ''if".
Re: Are we now a settled more happy squad?
It all depends on if there were any real bad apples in the squad, or if it was just a lot of players being unhappy about not playing and wanting away
With Worrell, Brownhill, Cullen, Jay Rod and Redmond, at least we now have a few older responsible heads to keep the squad more settled hopefully

To be honest, I don’t see this as any different to the Tarks situation - he clearly wanted to leave when bids came in for him but he remained professional and worked hard for the team. As long as the others do I don’t care if they actually wanted to leave. They can earn their moves.
The good news is that we probably have enough quality in the squad that if they drop off their levels we can live without them. Having players that will take their place off them if they don’t perform should mean that they don’t sulk, although I’d have liked to keep Obafemi as more competition for Foster.

I know what I saw when VK berated JBG and I immediately went from being unsure about VK leaving to realising we had dodged a bullet. His behaviour was disgusting and unprofessional and Bayern Munich are welcome to him.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 1:59 pmAs many have said MTB2 let you see what it wanted you to see.

Berge didnt play for us 2 years ago. Were you thinking Beyer? If so we could still end up with a Beyer/Cullen link up this seasoncriminalclaret wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 1:34 pmSettled? They had less than 12 hours together before playing in a derby game, talk about baptism of fire.

Re: Are we now a settled more happy squad?
Yep totally meant Beyer! Can't edit it.
Point remains though, so many options now got to see how the pieces fit together.
I really want to see our attacking players gel quicker than anyone. Kole, Foster, Billing, Hannibal, Anthony, Sariemento start to gel it could be a sight to see!
But that won't happen overnight though

I can't see Billing fitting in, TBH.

We'd have a job on for things to become more unsettled & unhappier than the last couple of weeks with people sulking all over the place & agitating for moves depending on what & who you believe.

Re: Are we now a settled more happy squad?
Don't think it will take long for even the least clever one to work out what's needed to get back on PL wages.
Re: Are we now a settled more happy squad?
I think it will take a while afore we can even talk about a settled team/squad.
There's another break early October and we've got 5 games before then so hoping
we can get to that point with another 10 or so points and still be in the mix.
And then there's one or two injured who might be available by then.
SP has his work cut out to get them gelling and all playing well
and it will take time for him to establish his best starting 11.
We'll need to be patient and hope we're still there or thereabouts
come Xmas and then push on and make a challenge in the New Year.
If we can manage to achieve that then I'll be a happy bunny
so to speak especially if you consider the dire scenario we were in a couple of
weeks back when we had no idea who was staying.
