Surprising but fantastic news.
Seems like everyone is buying into Parker and his managerial style - heard another glowing report earlier.

I’m sure it will have a release clause that suits both club and player

Excellent words from the young man and I’m absolutely buzzing to hear comments like that.
Sounds like we’ve turned a corner and we’ve got some of that Dyche “group” mentality going on again.

Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
Fantastic news. Hopefully this will help him to get rid of any other thoughts and concentrate on his game. He was weirdly off it v them lot but when he is at it, nothing comes close to him.
Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
Just watched his interview on Instagram.. if anyone was in any doubt about the team environment last season, then listen to that. He couldn't have made it any clearer really when he talked about the things he's learnt from the last year.

Fantastic news and glad we have tied down which helps us get a bigger fee and gives is a bit more power.
These contracts though are just done to make sure the player no longer has the wage drop relegation brings them

Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
Not to be a doom and gloomer but this will be a result of him and his agent kicking up a fuss and demanding a new contract after the interest in him over the summer. It's just better copy to bill it as "Five more years" rather than "Massive pay rise" (absolutely fair play to Luca, not knocking him!)
Positive of course is that it should increase the amount another club is willing to pay.
A clause could work in both parties favours or just one, yet to be seen.
Excellent player with plenty of room for improvement.

The news coming out of Turf Moor over the past few days suggests to me that the feel-good factor is returning to the club under Scott Parker, following the horrors of last season.

Whether this is to ensure a (far) higher sale price down the line, or his own commitment, or both - it’s fantastic news regardless. Well done to the club.
Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
Obviously he's gonna be on more money, he was one of our lowest earners. Good deal all round

As it turns out though it was just a media personality on twitter who was claiming we were selling most of our first team rather than the reality.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 7:37 pmI know….crazy to think a few people were worried when we sold most of the first team and struggled to field a side against Sunderland
Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
You don’t sign a new deal with a promotion pay rise clause to my knowledge, it’s part of the existing contract. Any new contracts signed would have been completely independent of the previous ones. I imagine the club believed at the time they had earned a new contract and believed those players values were likely to increase so wanted to secure them on longer deals and keep them happy. Obviously it didn’t pan out that way.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 8:50 pmI believe a lot of those deals last year were promotion clauses

Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
The deals they signed in 2022 had guarantees should we win promotion. That’s why so many signed extensions a year ago.SirBob wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 9:13 pmYou don’t sign a new deal with a promotion pay rise clause to my knowledge, it’s part of the existing contract. Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
That’s right, they were guaranteed and were automatically activated on promotion. No signatures required.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 9:22 pmThe deals they signed in 2022 had guarantees should we win promotion. That’s why so many signed extensions a year ago.
Same as relegation pay cuts, they are automatically activated. That’s why we don’t see every player signing new contracts on relegation.
Maybe I’m miss understanding the point. Not trying to be an ar*e, I just believe they were bard new contracts and nothing to do with previous clauses

Benson
Zaroury
Cullen
Vitinho
Foster
All sign new deals which felt like it was to get the players from the Belgium league in line with the rest of the squad wage wise

Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
Fantastic news and as he was a 18 year old with little experience I am sure he was on peanuts, which not only makes sense for everyone to agree a new deal, it also makes us understand why he may have been keen on a move, if indeed he was.
Given the likely desire from Luca for a pay-rise it also makes me think the power was with the club and maybe no clauses were inserted which ties the club’s hands, simply because they would have no need to tie him down further. Not like players like Amdouni who were already established stars.

Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
There were a lot of factors in the team selection at Sunderland, very few were about which players had been sold.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 7:37 pmI know….crazy to think a few people were worried when we sold most of the first team and struggled to field a side against Sunderland

Re: ARTICLE: New long term deal for Koleosho
Happy he's committed to us but he will have something wrote in his contract that allows him to go if fee is matched what the club want like the rest who went in last transfer window. All he needs to do is concentrate on is playing well for us and the rest will be taken care of..
