Fabulous news
Re: ARTICLE: New five year deal for Estève
Blimey! He’s only just signed a deal hasn’t he? What’s the score with these deals? Release clause if we don’t get promoted etc?

Article now completed - and I thought there may be clauses but perhaps not. It's fantastic news.

Great news but surely the only reason for this and Koleosho's deal is to agree release clauses in case we don't go up.

Several smart contract extensions in the last week or so. Brownhill (if he will) and Foster next presumably.

Absolutely fantastic news along with Cullen and Koleosho and credit to the club for getting these done ..........surely not even the anti everything BFC brigade can put a negative slant on these recent extensions!.

wow, that's incredible news. Superb stuff.
Re: ARTICLE: New five year deal for Estève
Get in! This lad looks a player to me. Feel strongly he could play for France in the next few years.
Feared he might be looking for the door marked "exit" end of August but SP and AP have reassured him.
Fair play.

Fantastic news regarding Esteve, class player.Rouwens_Weapon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 3:37 pmWonderful interview, very likeable on and off the pitch. Future France captain?
Although highly rated by us, it'll be a huge challenge for him to even make the French squad in that position I highly doubt he'll go on the be the French captain.
Re: ARTICLE: New five year deal for Estève
His enthusiasm is not false. He realises he's very lucky to be a pro. He was brought up as a Montpellier fan and whilst that will always be his club he just loves playing football. He feels he's loved and that means a great deal to him.wilks_bfc wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 3:31 pmSteve Steve Steve

Re: ARTICLE: New five year deal for Estève
Surely there is. It'd make no sense for him to sign a new one if there isn't.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 3:09 pmArticle now completed - and I thought there may be clauses but perhaps not. It's fantastic news.
Unless it signals a change in the way we are structuring salaries. Possibly offering higher basics to players we want to build around in the long term to get them to buy in. Might mean slightly lower performance incentives but it's all guesswork.
Would make sense for players you can trust to perform without that added incentive.

Re: ARTICLE: New five year deal for Estève
It feels like we've somehow extended our very own personal transfer window with the new contracts we've got these lads to sign.
Add to that the singing of Egan and it's been a very productive week.
As stated by others, let's tie down Brownhill and Foster.

Maxime Esteve
Maxime Esteve signs new five year deal that sounds like a good move and good business. Just watched his interview and he seems genuinely happy to be a claret hope that continues what with Josh & Luca signing new contracts it seems now that SP influence is really beginning to show positivity UTC

Not really sure how you draw this conclusion to be honest?Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 3:19 pmGreat news but surely the only reason for this and Koleosho's deal is to agree release clauses in case we don't go up.
Both were under long term deals already. Why would the club weaken their position a lot by signing new deals with release clauses in those circumstances? They would just continue to pay them less and stick to their long contracts without the clauses? It doesn’t make much sense.
I’m not saying they don’t have them, just I doubt they’ll be new. If anything it’ll be a case of us paying them a bit more money to increase/change the clause.

Re: ARTICLE: New five year deal for Estève
I think you are probably right. It will be a case of rewarding them for staying here this season with a wage rise but with a clause stating if we don't go up they can be released for a certain fee. I cant see them signing these long term deals otherwise.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 3:19 pmGreat news but surely the only reason for this and Koleosho's deal is to agree release clauses in case we don't go up.

What a great start to the weekend. Brilliant news.
Seems like a cracking bloke, whenever he’s interviewed.
A squad with his attitude and commitment, on and off the pitch, would go a long way!!

Re: ARTICLE: New five year deal for Estève
I thought the League were going to clamp down on these massively long contracts-didn't Palmer just get a very long one, and had only joined them in January. It makes a mockery of the Financial Fair Playrandomclaret2 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 5:09 pmI see Nicolas Jackson at Chelsea has signed a new 9 year contract today...

Re: ARTICLE: New five year deal for Estève
After what we went through running up to the end of the window, with a number of players who could not get away fast enough, this is fabulous news. It gives me hope that Josh might still agree a new contract. I sense the feeling in camp is very high right now under Scotty-long it may continue. We are starting to get a back bone to our team

Re: ARTICLE: New five year deal for Estève
The key for me in this is that both parties have to agree there is a benefit to them, or no contract would be signed.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 3:19 pmGreat news but surely the only reason for this and Koleosho's deal is to agree release clauses in case we don't go up.
So BFC simply won’t do anything that worsens their position (unless someone messes up). Usually the player gets a pay rise in this division (unusual if not) so that means the player bas something they want, so BFC must then get something they want. Tying down for an extra year or so doesn’t feel enough.
I’m thus relaxed about exit clauses.
