I certainly would not write Sheff Utd off-they have some very good individual players and will score a number of goals on the break

I'm not saying he's not decent, I just don't think 22 games in the league is anything compared to some of the other lads. To proclaim him the best in the league is ridiculous at this stageboatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 10:02 pmHe's certainly decent at this level. I wish we'd signed him.

Wilder has seriously brought the age of the squad down - they are only going to get better. I wasn't impressed with them tonight though tbhwarksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 10:05 pmI certainly would not write Sheff Utd off-they have some very good individual players and will score a number of goals on the break

They are solid Championship players, yeah.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 9:45 pmI would say they have the best midfield in the league (certainly on par with us).
Souza was gash in the PL, Hamer didn’t get a move back there, and no-one fancied O’Hare. Arblaster has potential sure, but he’s still a long way off even being a top Championship player judging by tonight against a weak Hull midfield.
Think our midfield has the ability to impose a lot more control over a game.

The keeper Cooper is 3 inches smaller than Trafford and to my eye has slightly worse reflexes. I think we have the better keeper now, and certainly the one with the most potential. That’s not knocking Cooper, but like much of their team, bar two or three, what I see doesn’t scare me.

yep, Trafford cost (approx) £20m and Cooper about £5m. Let's say we sell Trafford next window: would you prefer either Hladky or Greene to Cooper?CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 10:11 pmThe keeper Cooper is 3 inches smaller than Trafford and to my eye has slightly worse reflexes. Couldn't work out why Sheff United had only 9 points despite winning 3 and drawing 2 then realised they'd had a two point deduction.

Scored 2 because of suicidal defending.
Didn’t impose themselves on the game after going 1 up which was surprising.
Caught out on at least 2 occasions in the first half where a better team would’ve punished them. Should have conceded at the end with the free header off the bar.
Bench options aren’t particularly strong. Although decent at this level, I don’t think Moore has the athleticism to lead the line for 46 games.
If they can keep O’Hare and Hamer fit for most of the season then I think they can run the Top 2 close, but I would say both of those players need to be getting 10+ goals to stand a chance.

Main takeaway from that game is that if Hull don’t change something drastically, they’re in relegation trouble.

Re: Tonight's Footy 13th Sept
I thought it was an interesting game.
Hull tried playing it about and did pretty well generally near their own goal. Their goalkeeper Pandur looked to move about well for this type of play. They were let down in the middle of the pitch for the first goal. There's is some talent in this team but as yet it doesn't look like it is being harnessed.
Sheff Utd did what they needed to do. Whilst they looked reasonably solid they didn't really have much to deal with defensively.
I thought Kiefer Moore looked pretty good, some good running on the ball, setting up others. He had no opportunities but there weren't many going. The players United brought off the bench, Brooks, Brewster and McCallum, almost immediately led to their second goal and were pretty lively.
Hamer has three yellows in five games!
