James Trafford absolutely fantastic today, kept us a in the game not just his shot stopping but his coming to collect the ball, so pleased for him

Dug in. Three points at a side everyone expects to be top two. Happy days.

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
Great performance from Trafford (motm) and Flemming.
Looking like Traff might thrive more in this sort of setup where he can play more on instinct/reaction - a bit more like how Dyche set the team up defensively when Pope was in the net.

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
There’s nothing worrying about it, unlike the last manager Parker comes up with different tactics for different teams. Worked really well in the first half, less effective in the second. But that was a massive defensive performance the likes of which we haven’t seen since Dyche.

Creating a chance with a goal scorer on the end, looks to be their problem!JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 2:36 pmTrafford has been birlliant.
Really grown in this game. Made a massive difference. Not pretty. Not a lot to get excited about for us but this is a fantastic 3pts.
2nd time I've watched DL and they haven't offered that much to say they are one of the favourites.

We've just won at Leeds, FFS enjoy it!!!!

We could absolutely name the same three. Absolutely awful how some are quick to give it out to the owners, Trafford etc. but, NEVER, admit when they’re wrong.

Great result, given the opposition and the fact we weren't
brilliant.
Four points from R*vers and Leeds is good.

Take the win all day obvs long but a weird game Good 1st half from both teams. 2nd half as we got worse Leeds looked less like scoring. Lots of room for improvement but points wise a good start to the season so also room for optimism.

Trafford master class, well done that man. The cross he come and claimed while surrounded by players just shows how much he has come in from last year and the full stretched save was just WOW

No doubting the effort put in but Leeds will be wondering how they haven’t won.

What did you expect him to do - duck out of that important challenge with less than a minute to go?
He did his job and it ran down the clock.
Yes, he misses the next game but we have squad depth
Not sure who the idiot is to be honest.
Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
Excellent defensive display but Pires a weakness from games I have seen and today our passing was woeful
Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
We would have had to score two goals under Kompany.
Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread

Well done Trafford, MOTM clearly. Can't wait for the 4's in the rate a player thread

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
Others will see it as a classic away performance, a defensive masterclass against the Championship favourites on their home turf.
After the early Leeds chance we restricted them to very few outright chances.
And don't forget that some of these players have hardly played a training game together.

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
Esteve as usual was superb, love the look of Fleming. Humphreys had a good game and a bit unfortunate for me.
Worral is exactly what I thought he would be , a warrior who is technically limited but will do a fine job in the championship. Trafford was outstanding (amazing what a pair of organisers in front of you can do ) but I think if we can get Beyer alongside Esteve we will have a superb spine. Its early days but for me we look like a team being very much moulded in our managers image

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
Looking at our next batch of games, it was important to get something here, getting 3 points allows us to go into those game and really impose ourselves on teams let’s be honest we should be beating. Tactically very good and finally back to a team that can defend a lead

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
We were clearly worried about the threat in behind, especially from Gnonto.
The defence and midfield were probably 20 yards further back than they would ordinarily be.
Left Flemming isolated but it was a tactic that allowed Leeds to play in front of us and contest the 18 yard line.
Tactically astute from Parker, although a difficult watch.

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
Brilliant win against a top side. Great to see us showing grit and steel. UTC
Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
I thought that was a defensive masterclass with a huge performance from Trafford behind them. We were so well organised.
On the flip side, control of the ball when we did get it was really poor in the second half. Cullen coming back into the team properly will help with that but the other guys need to work on their composure because he can’t do it all.

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
Couldn't get hold of the ball for most of the second half but that was a terrific effort from the chaps, what a result!

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
3 precious points away against a promotion challenger so who wouldn’t be happy. The reality is a neutral watching that would say 2 average looking sides. Leeds couldn’t even find a way to get a point against us when we couldn’t put 2 passes together in the second half.

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
Definitely a smash and grab three points against a strong team at their ground. Trafford was outstanding, the defence had to give everything to keep them out. Midfield weren’t at the races, Laurent doesn’t seem to have the pace for this league. Fleming had a good first half, I wonder if he could play just behind Foster.
I thought they could/should have had a penalty, but who cares we got a massive three points against, possibly, the biggest club in the world. Might risk a couple of cold Mahous after that.

I think JT kicked two out of play, one right near the end, but he did a couple of good kicks down the pitch too.

10 points from 5 games
Luton, Sunderland and Leeds away also out the way
One game against rovers done
All the transfer chaos
3 players on new deals
Can’t help but praise the staff and players, they deserve that win today

We have now closed the door on the chaos and a tough start, got three of the hardest away games out of the way, and a derby, and are in the top 6.
Now we crack on in great shape.

Watched in a bar in Cails Turkey, next to a table full of Clarets.
Buzzing after that.
Defended brilliantly.
Looked dangerous everytime we broke.
Being petty, the only downside was 90% of our balls forward went straight to a Leeds shirt.
We get that right and we can beat anybody.
Same as Bastards, I thought we were playing this fixture too soon, but I was worried about nothing.
UTC
P.S. A big thumbs up for SP.

Re: DL v Clarets Match Thread
On TV the take out of Josh by Rodon looked awful. Josh clearly won the ball and was taken out. Leeds only showed replay once at full speed
