Strange Game. Decent 1st half from both sides. 2nd half as we got worse Leeds looked less likely to score. Great result but lots of room for improvement. Now averaging the 2 points a game that gets you promoted so room for optimism as well.

Trafford 9* - top stuff, the claim at the end was class
Humphreys 8 - very impressed, physicality and pace, up against arguably the best winger in the league
Worrall 7 - got away with the pen imo but otherwise did fine

Pires 6 - did alright against Gnonto to be fair but need more from him on the ball

Trafford 9 MOTM today, superb

Humphreys 7 I actually thought he was good defensively today up against a real player in Solomon. 2 silly bookings and looked like a centre half out of position on the ball however.

Worrall 5 really shaky start to his Burnley career, shocking on the ball, caught out of position a few times (got away with the one Trafford saved 1v1 and then the stone wall penalty) then for his yellow card, why is he smothering Esteves space?

Pires 6 did well defensively today

Laurent 7 thought he showed a real brain with the defensive positions he took up, few sloppy passes but I like him, big strong and does the simple stuff well.

Hannibal 6 lucky not to get sent off, runs his arse off and I like his constant motivation of his team mates. Just need to see a lot more on the ball.

Brownhill 6 quiet today but worked his arse off.

Anthony 6 like Brownhill, certainly no lack of effort.

Koleosho 7 excellent goal, real talent.

Flemming 8 I don’t think he lost the ball when passing, strong, always gave an option. Foster could learn a lot.

Trafford 9 - MOM. Superb, solid, composed, no errors, a couple of ropey kicks but that was it. Needs to play not be a benchwarmer for NUFC.
Humphries 7 - mistake at the end but did very well on (I think) his wrong footed side
Pires 6 - struggling a bit and in all honesty feels like a squad player at this level
Worrall 7 - great organisation and leadership but was a bit off the pace at times
Esteve 7 - big error due to going for it with his left foot luckily not punished, otherwise good
Lorent 8 - vital role shielding and did it well. Vitally, seems to be aware of his limitations.
Hannibal 7 - bundle of energy, winds the opposition up and harassed them into errors
Brownhill 7 - kept making them play rushed passes
Anthony 7 - quiet game but was disciplined and tracked back well
Koleosho 8 - looked the danger and if we needed goals I think he could have gone again, fantastic goal
Fleming 8 - great hold up play, average pace but cleverness and instinct for goal. Feels like a 10 but can fill in at 9.

Sarmiento 7 - was a useful outlet and did try to track back

Fantastic win which was a tough watch as it looked like Leeds would continually score, which bodes well for our defensive organisation. To have a lead, no pun intended, with 41 games left and a home game to come, is priceless. Really does set us up well.

I’d like to think that we could have offered more if needed. As it stood though, a pragmatic defensive performance with rapid breaking is what we had to do after a new team and little training time together.

A word for Trafford - if he keeps us this level he will get the fans on side in no time, not his fault last season. He may feel he will never be loved here, but that is wrong, and to develop into england’s number 1 he needs to be here, not deputising for Pope. I say this in the firm belief Eddie will be back in January.

Trafford 9 - best game for us by far. A big hand in getting 3 points today. Delighted.

Humphreys 7 - Thought he did very well out of position.

Esteve 6 - Some uncharacteristic errors today from Steve. He played us right into danger on two occasions. One at the start which was a bad pass but he played it straight at the Leeds player. Second the passage of play just before Worrall had to dive in from behind.

Worrall 6 - Tough one this. I want to like him as he's obviously got a lot of fight and character. But his passing is not great. Beyer will make us better.

Pires 5 - Frustrating player. He does some things brilliantly, but he switches off. You can almost see it happen. He will cost, and make us goals.

Laurent 7 - An obvious leader that we've lacked. Strong physical presence and excellent defensive positioning. He actually gets into some good positions further up the pitch too, but technically he's not quite good enough to carve out chances with his passing.

Brownhill 5 - Can't fault his workrate but we need more from him on the ball if he's going to take a cm slot. With Flemmimg perhaps taking the advance role in a 3, it's going to be hard to pick him over Hannibal and Laurent.

Hannibal 6 - Only 21, and it shows. He's a pest, which I love. He closes down very well, and supported flemming well in the 1st half. Bit he has to temper his darker side.

Anthony 6 - Tough day, didn't see much of the ball but did well defensively. Didn't look quite as sharp as his first game.

Koleosho 7 - Great goal. Was a total menace first half. But as the game wore on he was guilty like others of wasting possession too easily.

Flemming 8 - Superb debut. This guy is going to be a real player.

Trafford 9 best keeper in the division

Humphreys 7 very good defensively but at the Duff/Mee end of the attacking fullback spectrum. Debatable whether his 2nd booking was even a foul, looked like he got the ball.

Worrall 8 I said when he arrived he was the most important new signing of the lot and it’s showing. A talker, an organiser, a leader. His tackle on Solomon was a beauty, never ever a foul.

Esteve 8 calm and assured

Pires 6 best part of his game was making good runs to drag defenders away on the counter

Laurent 6 a decent body to have in the middle but his passing is v limited

Brownhill 6 usual high workrate

Hannibal 5 a liability. Got himself booked completely stupidly which nullified his game as he was terrified of making any challenge in the 2nd half, which played a bit part in us not getting much of a foothold after the break. Should have been hooked at half time.

Koleosho 8 a great run and finish for the winner, so many players cock it right up given that much time to think about what to do.

Anthony 6 decent, had to do a lot defensively 2nd half

Flemming 7 this guy is very good footballer. Did well enough in clearly not his best position.

Sarmiento 6 not much from him but we were under a lot of pressure


Defensively this was really very good indeed and we always looked dangerous on the break. Lots more to come from this team as it gels together. Lovely stuff.

Massive Win, lays down a bit of a marker despite not playing anywhere near the levels we know we can

Trafford - 8 - credit where its due, I've been critical about him not commanding his area in the past, but no such concerns today, epitomised by his late high catch

Humphreys - 7 - clearly not totally comfortable at full back, but read the game well when he had to cover centrally, sending off probably deserved but stopped a Leeds counter

Worrall- 7 - no frills, and I suspect we never will have any from this lad. Possibly lucky there's no VAR re the pen appeal as that's given every single time in the Prem but solid un the tackle and in the air and celebrates a tackle like it's a goal. My kind of defender.

Esteve- 7 - barely put a foot wrong all game, read the game well, sound decision making

Pires - 6 - a little suspect in possession and beaten on the outside by the lively Gnonto and Bogle. Seems to lack any real pace

Laurent - 7 - didn't really notice him that much at all, but think that's a good thing. Provides the shield for the back 4 and worked well filling the gaps horizontally when full backs had pushed on.

Brownhill - 7 - much like Laurent, a bit more of a restricted role as opposed when playing with Cullen. Battled well throughout

Hannibal - 7 - as much as I believe he has quality on the ball, he barely got got chance to show it, though his tireless pressing from the front, particulalry first half drew the mistakes

Koleosho - 8 - superb pressing again and added quality to his end product with a brilliant finish. Concerning he often seems to cramp up very early for a young lad and hope it's nothing more than his explosive style

Anthony - 7 - was a threat on the counter and put in a great shift defensively

Flemming - 8 - lead the line really well, in game in intelligence and awareness, he's going to be an asset if we can get him playing behind a number 9

Cullen - 7 - gives the impression of us having so much more time and space when he moves the ball quickly.

Sarmiento - 6 - Not really the game to be able to showcase his attacking threats but worked well on the press

Massengo - 6 - as above, booked for a professional foul which could have saved our bacon

Hannibal - 7 very good in the press high up the pitch, needs to stay calm, think he will turn out great this season
Anthony 7 - worked hard , some good touches
Koleosho 7 - excellent goal , with some nurturing in training he could be a real danger this season
Flemming 8 - good debut, some excellent touches, worked hard , have a good feeling about him

Trafford 9* - Not sure what he'd have to do to get a 10. Some excellent saves and claims. Showed he's a man in this game.
Humphreys 7 - Better than I expected. Can't blame him for the 2nd yellow. Probably worth taking.
Worrall 7 - Npt accepting the criticism about him. His passing is good enough. His display was good. Clean sheet away against DL.
Esteve 7 - A couple of casual examples but solid enough.
Pires 6 - Has some weak areas but did OK against a decent attacking side.
Laurent 6 - Did ok apart from a couple of slip ups.
Brownhill 7 - Good. Hope his head injury is nothing to worry about.
Koleosho 8 - Took hiss goal superbly. The main criticism against him is the lack of an end product. Not today.
Anthony 6 - Ssome good. Some bad.
Hannibal 7 - I think we are going to love him. Loads of energy. Just what we needed. Can't see him finishing many games.
Flemming 8 - He looks like the quality signing we hoped we were getting. Strong and technically good.

As a few have said, strange game to score. Not wonderful to watch. They had the better chances. Looked a possible pen which we might have got away with.

The bottom line: we won away, handing a major rival, their first defeat of the season.
It wasn't pretty. We weren't exciting but we were effective and kept a clean sheet even though they were afforded 70% possession.
