Re: NFL Sundays
Hope they are as good as the opening two games.
The toe on the line decider to the Ravens @ Chiefs was amazing and with Harbaugh calling for a two point attempt. Sadly we never got that play.
Shame the Sao Paolo match was spoiled by the slippy turf but still a great finish.

Is there another team in the NFL that throw away 1st half leads to lose to a last second field goal as often as the Jags?

Good start from my team, the Bucs! Although Washington have been very wasteful so far.

Re: NFL Sundays
still find it absolutely mental we have JJ Watt involved with Burnley, he's on every other NFL advert and prog over here
Re: NFL Sundays
Browns & their QB, Watson, having an absolute shocker.
Re: NFL Sundays
Hasn't he still got three years of guaranteed salary left on his ridiculous contract?
It's an odd game. One quarterback just signed a massive contract for an unpleasant club, the other has an unpleasant quarterback with a massive contract for a relatively pleasant club.
Personally, I don't mind the cowboys winning a few against sides that I have no affinity for, just as long as they don't make the playoffs and don't get a top 10 draft pick. The contracts for Prescott and lamb should keep them in general mediocrity for another few years. Truly the man u of US football.
Seahawks having a better second half in the Russell Wilson derby. First half was an Offensive disaster.

The Panthers, Seahawks & Broncos look tragic.
TJ Watt absolute monster game wrecker as well - one of the best defensive performances I've seen that.
Redzone is so good - for me it's the best sporting production on TV.

Started taking an interest when the son and heir did a few years back ... he follows the Cardinals, whereas I picked the Detroit Lions !
Overtime win for the Lions in the early hours this morning .. they'll always score points but the defence is a concern !

The Baker Boys have got something cooking in Tampa. Another solid win against a contender. Seem to all be playing for each other. Just glad that even though Aidan Hutchinson had a monster career game, the rest of team couldn't stop the Bucs.

What about the Cardinals at the Rams. Blew them away inside the 1st quarter! Absolutely love watching Murray!

The Cardinals have come out of a blind spot for me. I know it's early, but they have gone from one of the whipping boys from last season to a team you don't want to play at the minute.
Hopefully my team (the Bucs) can carry on their winnings start against the Broncos next week.

Absolutely. Murray being fit and firing makes a massive difference to their offense. Having Marvin Harrison and Trey McBride helps too.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 2:06 pmThe Cardinals have come out of a blind spot for me. Re: NFL Sundays
I know that we are two weeks down, but is anyone on this thread up for a quick utc eliminator competition starting week 3?
The way things are going, it probably won't last long anyway.
In case there is some competition, I'll start by picking Miami to beat my 2-0 seahawks. Winning three in a row playing badly seems somewhat unlikely.

Re: NFL Sundays
Well anyone entering picks a team that they think will win at the weekend. If their pick loses, then they are out. The catch is that you can only pick a team once, so you'd have to pick a different team in week 4.
The temptation is just to pick whoever is playing the inept panthers every week, but If you manage to pick average teams a few times along the way, then you have some good teams in hand for when the panthers play a team for a second time, or have a bye week.
I think I've only made it work for about six weeks in a row, max. It's easier in the Premier league, because of the draws, but you then get, say, lots of people going for Liverpool at home to Nottingham forest.......
Re: NFL Sundays
Count me in! Shall we have a deadline for predictions? Before the Thursday night game? Can I choose the team you have chosen, for example? Or is that now off limits for this week?timshorts wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 10:30 pmWell anyone entering picks a team that they think will win at the weekend. If their pick loses, then they are out. Re: NFL Sundays
I'll be up for an completion, but as there are not loads of people interested in the NFL, what would you think of these rules? (Just thinking based on the results in week 2, most people might be eliminated early on
)
- You must pick 1 team to win before the start of the Thursday night game.
- You can only pick the same team to win once during the season.
- You cannot select the same opposition twice in a row - trying to eliminate selecting whoever plays the Panthers every week here i.e., if you picked the Raiders to beat the Panthers in week 3, you can't then pick the Bengals to beat the Panthers in week 4, but you could select the Bears to beat the Panthers in week 5 again.
- If the team you pick wins, you get 1 point
- If the team you pick loses, you get 0 points
Person at the end with the most points wins.
Just a suggestion

49ers to beat Rams. Showing how much they need McCaffrey but should still be too strong for Rams.
Re: NFL Sundays
Yes, I'd be up for those rules, save for the thursday night item. People will forget to pick otherwise. You only need to pick before the match starts. Then if you forget, you might be lucky and get to go even on the Monday night game assuming that your pick didn't break the other rules.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 10:50 pmI'll be up for an completion, but as there are not loads of people interested in the NFL, what would you think of these rules? I don't like or follow NFL but noted that Rees-Zammit didn't get into the squad of the team he had joined. I would have thought someone with his speed and contact sport background would have done well. Just goes to show how specialised sports are and just because you're good at one sport, doesn't mean you'll be good at another.

Re: NFL Sundays
I wasn't too surprised he didn't make the cut for the Chiefs as they are the best team at the minute. The Jacksonville Jaguars have added him to their practice squad now though and they have had a really poor start to the season, so there is a chance he could get some game time for them this season. Would love to see it happenCaptJohn wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 8:20 amI don't like or follow NFL but noted that Rees-Zammit didn't get into the squad of the team he had joined. They looked good. Rodgers looked back to his best and my first look at Braelon Allen, for a 20yo at running back he could have some future in front of him.
Pats were shocking both sides of the ball.
