Although I live several hours to the north of North Carolina in Pennsylvania, one of my coworkers has family in Asheville. The floods have been devastating, and historic Biltmore Village has been flooded out. The Biltmore Estate is likely to be closed for some time, although I don't think it was affected directly. It's a great place. The people in the area are very friendly and welcoming. This is one time when thoughts and prayers are appropriate. It's a beautiful area and fingers crossed that when the waters recede everything can be rebuilt. One of my favorite southern breakfast places "Biscuit Head" is in Biltmore Village so I'm pulling for them. Great people and fantastic breakfasts. Hope they are all ok. Quite a few Clarets in the Carolinas too. Hope they are all okay! UTC

We were under water in Chiang Rai. Had to evacuate the house. Fortunately only 6'' got in, and we have a two-storey houe. The woman's sister-in-law lives in a bungalow by the river and was away in Bangkok. The flood water went up to the ceiling.

Good to hear AC and family are ok. We’re currently out in NC and were supposed to be heading to Asheville this week. Clearly significant change of plans.

Hopefully no more big storms for a while to aid the clear up which looks like it’ll take months / years.
