Still struggling to see what he’s offering. He seems ineffective as a number 10.

He's too inexperienced for that role. He was coming far to deep and that destroys the whole shape as it leaves Foster completely isolated. Also he struggling to find space and receive it on the turn which is vital in that role. I'd swap him with Brownhill or play Jay Rod in the 10.

You’d think Flemming will take that role when he’s fit.

True. Not sure what's going on with him at present. Wonder if we chucked him in a bit early. Did he miss pre season with Millwall?

Good midfielder but is lost trying to play as the most advanced of a three in the build-up phase. He can press well, but when we come up against teams like Oxford who let us have it, I'm very surprised that he's seemingly the first pick for that role.

I didn't see the game today but in his previous games I don't think he's created one opportunity. Not what we need from a number 10.

He’s a good player but isn’t really suited to that role.

I’m not sure what position he played for Man United but I always had him down as a tenacious, ball winning midfielder. Not a number ten.

He chases lost causes and does close down the opposition when they play out from the back. Unfortunately it loses its effectiveness when none of your teammates do the same.

There is definitely a player there, and I thought he did well today linking play up and pressing and hassling, but he isn't a 10

No matter how little anyone thinks he offers the suggestion of Jay Rod as an alternative will mean we will be offered a whole lot less.

Agree but everyone can see he isn’t a creative number ten, box to box good energy and ball winner.

I’m not sure why Parker is insisting on this midfield 3, it should be Cullen/Laurent alongside Brownhill/Hannibal with a Flemming/Tresor/Sarmiento ahead of them.

Defo need to choose between Hanni and Josh. The latter gets goals and we have few goalscorers, so it's a no brainer.

We need Flemming fit.

I thought that he played fairly well today. Maybe not an ideal No. 10, but pressed and linked well.

Although he’s playing in the 10 position, he’s not being asked to play as a 10, but more of an advanced ball winning midfielder.

It helps us to press high, but obviously we lack that creativity going forward.

Totally agree with this, against nearly all sides in the division we need to be giving the opposition extra headaches, and giving our players more options in the final third. I know you're not a Foster fan, but any striker in this setup is going to struggle a bit.

He obviously likes Hannibal and Browny, but one has to go to the bench. Sarmiento was the only option in the advanced role today, but Tresor, Flemming and Ramsey all to come. If we don't have that bravery to take one out of a flatter 3 and push a player into the 10, those players are just wasted.

I don't think we were that bad today, and we should've won. But we need the brakes off a bit

Not sure it's a question of brakes off, it's just that Brownhill & Hannibal aren't that good, and certainly not our creative answer in midfield further up the pitch. Browny is worth keeping on for his goalscoring ability, but that's about it; he does jack else! Hannibal we are still getting know.

Played 38 times for Birmingham in the Championship scoring once and providing five assists during a season in which many posters on here, prior to his signing for us, pointed to as an excellent contribution.

I haven't seen what he's offered other than industry up to now but today like you I saw it.

He needs to be playing further back to my mind. He wants the ball, demands it even. He could have the profile of Berge, driving from deep and I think we're not getting the best of him in behind the striker.

I assume/hope it's out of necessity that he's there currently

If Foster had passed the ball to him instead of unleashing a duff shot, I’m sure he would have scored.

I think it’s a tough call but if Brownhill isn’t signing a new contract, we have to go with Hannibal next to Cullen.

Surely Fleming coming in would fill Brownhills goal quota and actually help Foster, who desperately needs a partner and is crucial to us getting promoted.

Not a dig at Hannibal, just a desire.

But what would be the point of that? ;)

I do wonder if we wouldnt be better off dropping Hannibal back and giving Brownhill free reign as the number 10, obviously dropping him back once Flemming is available. You'd then be looking at a deeper 2 from Cullen/Brownhill/Hannibal/Laurent

Bags of energy but he does have a tendency to switch off at key moments and also seems to play a lazy ball here and there.

Pretty average player at this level from what I've seen so far.

I think in our search to create more opportunities and score more goals we will see Laurent and Cullen as the defensive midfield two, with Josh or Fleming advanced to support Foster and the two wide men. Surprised Laurent has not started for two games now, but suspect Parker is still finding out about some players and fine tuning the starting 11. I think also as we play the top tier sides Laurent will come in, as he seems to snuff out any danger at the back

Learning game by game; he's hungry and why he came to us. Look forward to watching his progress coz if he can get his belief and confidence up he'll be a real player: got a great touch; gets in some good positions and now just needs to learn how to utilise it all.

Tenacious ball winner and some of his link play is clever but another game where he’s offered no real threat in the final third from a number 10 position.

I can’t see us getting enough goals from the current forward options. Hopefully Flemming is the answer.
