Brownhill Malaysia

Post by BFC123 » Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:41 pm

Stumbled across a story claiming Brownhill and Flemming are reportedly considering playing for Malaysia at international level and could be called up as early as November. No idea on the reliability.

Thought that was going to be where his last freekick ended up.

They have a game in New Zealand on October 14th with another in India mid November. They recently beat the Lebanon and the Philippines which perhaps indicates the level they play at.

Why does he feel unfortunate to be English?

Because he's at risk of being arrested and thrown in prison for admitting it.

Guessing it's because he doesn't fancy his chances of being called up for England.

Exactly. And if you read his quote again and really try to understand his meaning you will realise he emphatically does not say he feels unfortunate to be English.

If I said "Unfortunately, I have to go to work today instead of watching the clarets" that doesn't imply I feel unfortunate to have a job.

As others have correctly pointed out, by only having English nationalality that means he is very unlikely to be selected for an international cap with the depth of players in front of him.

Why do you feel like only taking the first part of the sentence and ignoring the part that gives it context?

This.

Would just add that the message he put out isn't really for us, it's for the Malaysian Twitter account which tries to find players with Malaysian heritage. So his "unfortunately" bit is along a similar sentiment to his "but thanks for the support regardless"
