Those will be a long 6 mins!
Shows how we are suffering with injuries. We're holding on a bit.

Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
There were segments in the first half where we were great.
Second half there’s been a couple of breaks that looked nice and flowing. Don’t get me wrong the final ball has been crap.
But I think we are heading in the right direction, stuff will start to click.

Cullen off for Massengo.
I don't think I would do that. He looks to me like a nice footballer who is ineffective.

A win is a win...not a convincing one though. Lots and lots of work to do.

Going in the corner with 4 minutes to go against Plymouth. Go and try and get another, kill the game.

Pretty crap second half this. Look devoid of ideas going forward and our touch has been terrible.

A poor second half. Complacent, sloppy and no idea going forward. Gave Plymouth too many chances that a better side would have taken. Still a win's a win but we need to be better.

Where’s the extra 2 minutes come from
Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
This has gone from being quite a promising performance to quite a poor one.
Willing to give our inability to score against sides sitting in against us the benefit of the doubt as it really isn't as simple as it looks or sounds when you're playing teams that are gritty, scrappy and pack the spaces - we did it well under Dyche for years.
But this Plymouth side are not brilliant at all and nor are they playing a 'low block'. They're there to be got at and yet again we're struggling to fashion decent chances or look threatening.
I am not sure if Flemming in behind Foster is the silver bullet to all pf this but if he is it's concerning that we're never more than an injury or suspension away from being back to this turgid stuff.
We need to be finding a way to reintegrate Tresor and Ramsey as soon as possible, and if they can't be then get them moved on and give Parker the funds.
On the plus side, despite having a number of our defenders out we look quite solid and well drilled at the back. Once again, it's not a bad habit of playing poorly and still taking points, learning how to play in such a way that you protect what you've earned

Sh1te second half but another 3 points and second in the table (maybe would've been top if we didn't put that team out against Sunderland).. Given the circumstances, I think everyone would've taken that after 8 games.

Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
Christ we are dull. Defensively set up really well though, even with Egan Riley in there who's nowhere near it we still look relatively solid

Sheff weds first game of the season and against Sunderland where Plymouth actually won.
So this statement has been proven to be nonsense

Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
Who cares about the 2nd half display.
We're 8 games in, 2nd in the league, have joint best GD, are playing without an out and out goalscorer and haven't really clicked as a team and we played some good football in the first half.
Let's be happy for a change rather than a board of moaning feckers... Lots of positives and more to build on

Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
We need a presence at #9.
Foster will be brilliant playing off a proper #9.
Too many times there was nothing to play to.
Bottom line, we're winning games and we're 2nd without really hitting our stride.

Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
We were absolutely not dull first half, played some superb football and should have been at least 2-0 up. Plymouth’s extra day rest showed later in the second half in my view.

Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
Only 3 positives out of that:
1) the win
2) clean sheet for Trafford and the defence in front of him.
3) the way we played out 8 added minutes. As good as I’ve seen us do that for a long time.
Onwards and upwards.

"Everything is great lads, nothing to worry about"
And
"This is an absolutely terrible performance"
And tonight is a great example of that.
Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
Still a lack of understanding between players which is evident in the final ball.
I normally hate international windows, but they’ll be a god send to us this season.
Another injury with Foster. How many is that now on the treatment table? It’s a disgrace, and heads should roll.

Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
First half very good, created loads of chances, 60% of the ball and looked dangerous. Second half is simply not acceptable, ended the Game with less possession and in the end was taking the ball in the corner to protect a 1-0 lead. Against a side who make no mistake will be down the bottom end of the table come the end of the season, that is so negative.

Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
No idea (i do really) how we only won that by one - had enough opportunities in the first half to score 3 or 4. Take the win, up to second and we are nowhere near what we will be yet.
Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
Forgot Plymouth had an extra day. That’s a good point.
They are no mugs either. Smashed Luton, beat high flying Sunderland, got beat narrowly 1-0 at WBA.
A win is win in context of where we still are, players injured etc.
Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
The Plymouth board makes for some hilarious reading. This whopper in particular..
"Incredibly frustrating game. Burnley were worse than dogpoo, and that's being kind to dogpoo. They didn't make Grimmy work for anything. But they did waste time, dive, roll around and cheat to win. Supported by a joke ref who decoded to blow up for a non foul. So frustrating. Why did we start with some reserve players? Burnley are there for the taking. They literally spent more time time wasting than they did working our keeper. Did Grimmy have to make a save? Why were we so 'we'll take a point' attitude."

Did not see first half. But did not enjoy the second. We need to get rid of Foster asap. Not a striker that will score goals at this level.
But we won. We are second.

Foster was excellent so let’s hope we don’t get rid of him anytime soon.

I would have Egan Riley no where near the first team. A calamity waiting to happen.
Re: Burnley vs Plymouth - MATCH THREAD
It depends what you value I suppose doesn't it?
Some people would quite happily sit through Southgate ball every game if they took three points home every week
Some people aren't bothered about the result and just want to see some exciting football
Lots of different opinions all along the spectrum.
You're a missionary man for example. Your Mrs gives you the nod every other month and youre away for five minutes and you're delighted with that.
For other folk, they want the apple shoved in their gob and to be trussed up like a pig. It's all opinions. No one's right and no one's wrong.

Think if we had Flemming we put 3 or 4 past them.
That's literally the missing part right now, that attacking midfielder/10/second striker. Not worried one jot.
