Another poor night for the Storks who lost 4-1.
A big shout out to Barnoldswick Town who beat Lancaster City 1-0 in the FA Cup proper, that’s 3 teams from higher divisions they have knocked out now.
They face Curzon Ashton away from the National League North in the next round. (3 divisions higher)

Padiham signed a player today on a 'dual registration' - what does that mean?

He can play in the Northern Premier League as well as the Counties I would imagine.Rosehill Claret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 8:12 pmPadiham signed a player today on a 'dual registration' - what does that mean?
His registration with his current club remains in place as well been able to play for Padiham.

Re: Padiham FC Thread
2 different leagues. You can have 1 or 2 of these in your squad. It usually happens when one player is signed for a team in the higher league (in this case clitheroe) but isn’t getting games or needs to get fit. As they don’t do loan moves in the lower leagues this is a way around itRosehill Claret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 8:12 pmPadiham signed a player today on a 'dual registration' - what does that mean?

Re: Padiham FC Thread
Was a lad called Stuart Mellish at Colne. Not sure where he's been previously. And yeah Gerry Harrison and half the team went down to Nelson over the summer, not sure who's putting the money in down there though.

Re: Padiham FC Thread
The lad Padiham have signed is a very good player for that level, he’s the brother of ex Claret Marc Pugh, who has a very good career in the Premierleague for Bournemouth.
Born in Bacup if I believe rightly ?
Why didn’t it work for him at Burnley ? Late bloomer ?

I could be wrong, but i think he was a right winger, so was going to struggle to dislodge Glen Little.....ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 10:23 amThe lad Padiham have signed is a very good player for that level, he’s the brother of ex Claret Marc Pugh, who has a very good career in the Premierleague for Bournemouth.

Didn't he go to a lower level with Bournemouth and stayed with them through the rise of the leagues?

Nelson flying btw
Top of the league - not drawn a game yet. Lost 2 and won 10 I think.
2 they lost were against top 4 teams at the time but last week they had a really good win against one of the top teams in the league.
At home again this Saturday

Is it the guy from clitheroe that's chairman now?
Re: Padiham FC Thread
Mellish (ex Rochdale player) was manager at Glossop North End. Very unpopular with their supporters and sacked there too.
Re: Padiham FC Thread
Was going to go last night to their cup game against Garstang but it was called off. At the start of the season they signed Sefton Gonzales who has been a prolific goalscorer at a much higher level over the past few seasons - notably at Clitheroe. He won't be playing for buttons though I haven't seen his name on the teamsheet for a while.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 11:26 amNelson flying btw

Not sure whether it’s him or not -I know they got a new owner at the back end of last year and a number of players and the player manager left.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 11:30 amOverheard another manager talking in the barbers, he manages a few leagues above NWCFL but he did say Nelson should walk it with their budget.

This year they’ve made a number of good signings and got a new manager in.
Really good up front with a couple of cracking forwards at that level.
They’ve also spent a bit of money on the ground so well worth a watch. Their pitch has always been one of the best in the league.
They might end up swapping leagues with one of Colne or Padiham at this rate (or both !!).
Re: Padiham FC Thread
Didn't realise he was down there as well. Although he never seems to stay anywhere long! Pretty sure Stuart Fort was at Clitheroe and has gone to Nelson, I'd wager that's where the upgrades are coming from (which is fantastic by the way) I've no affiliation with Nelson but I'll aim to get up this season for oneBig Vinny K wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 11:47 amNot sure whether it’s him or not -I know they got a new owner at the back end of last year and a number of players and the player manager left.

I got on myself with the cricket finishing before the Burnley game ended.
A nice afternoon in the sunshine. 260 on.
It was a one sided game but it didn't stop some of the locals being nervous while it was 1 nil late on.

Re: Padiham FC Thread
A lot of similarities to last season for Padiham, a poor start then getting better each game.
No reason they can’t make the play offs again they have a very good side for this league.
Away to Penrith in the FA Vase this Saturday then a local derby as they travel to Colne on Tuesday.
Colne will probably go down this season.

A good win for Padiham away in the FA Vase at Penrith, now in the draw for the first round PROPER of the vase after winning 2 qualifying round.
Re: Padiham FC Thread
Colne and Clitheroe, too, so a good Saturday for our non-league clubs.
Re: Padiham FC Thread
Sorry, a mistake in that Clitheroe are through to the FA Trophy, not Vase.

2 late goals from Padiham as they win 2-1 against Colne.
Padiham in some really good form at the moment won 5 of the last 6 and unbeaten in 6 games.

Padiham doing it the Burnley way last night.
I was expecting an easy win with how poor Colne have been. Have they got their act together?

Padiham currently 3-0 up away at Garstang in the Macron Cup.
After a slow start they have well and truly found their feet, should be in and around the play offs this season.
