new instructions for Saturday:
Burnley FC have teamed up with sustainable cup suppliers Event Cup Solutions to reduce emissions and encourage sustainability at Turf Moor, for the 2024/25 season. How to use our reusable cup system on the concourse for beer only:

Buy your drink your reusable cup won't cost you anything extra to hire.

Enjoy your drink safe in the knowledge that you are helping the planet with our sustainable solution.

Return your drink if you want another drink, return your cup to the bar, and you will get a sparkling clean replacement OR, when finished, simply leave your cup in the concourse.

Don't take your cup home leave your cup in the stadium for us to wash and re-use for future events, helping us to reduce our plastic consumption.‌

Only way it works is to put a deposit on the cups but that would involve paying more staff to administer the refunds (Normally done here via contactless at the card terminals).

So pay an extortionate price for your drink, carry it up steep flights of stairs without a lid, break all known health and safety laws, risking injury to your fellow fans but rest assured you’ve reduced emissions and encouraged sustainability.

One alternative to the onerous "return your cup for refund" practice is to have bins where you can deposit your cup, that allocate the relvant deposit to a charity, or in some cases the ultras groups for tifo etc.

Germans have great hard plastic glasses where the handles fit into each other enabling you to carry at least 5 in one hand - to your seat !! Or you can simply buy from the beer salesperson walking round selling beer during the game.

It’s for the pints so no lids needed as you can take those upto the seats anyway

It’s been the case all season. They brought it in a couple of seasons ago towards the end of the relegation campaign and then it seemed to disappear until it’s re-emergence in August.

Given up with the kiosks with all the rules, instructions and problems. Can take your own hot/ soft drinks or drink in pubs before or after match if required. Plenty of choice, better prices and less hassle.

Just to add to this, which I think is more useful information which hasn’t been communicated by the club. They have now installed beer pumps at the food stalls as well and they were in operation for the Portsmouth game, but nobody was getting beers there because nobody knew about them. I am referring to the JHL, so I am going to assume that they have rolled this out across the ground.

I noticed them in the JMU on Tuesday when I went at HT for a coffee and pie (wouldn’t usually but hadn’t had chance/time to eat after work)

great idea, the plastic waste currently must be horrendous.

not really relevant for anyone on here, they stopped using the kiosks when they stopped serving peas or had to put their own milk in their brew
