Correct. I didn't recognise him at all when i first saw the photo. Died in 2016 aged 64 from cancer.

I'll take my comment back about looking after himself. The pic was taken on his final visit to Ashton Gate, where he was hero worshipped, not long before he passed away.

Legend at BC. Rightly. A rock in their midfield.
Unfortunately, we got him when his legs were totally gone. In for a tackle after the player had already gone. Great shame.

Re: Name the ex Claret
I have a vague recollection of Gerry Gow arriving late for a game during the Bond era. He ran sheepishly out of the tunnel at around 3.15pm in full kit and joined the subs bench. Caught in a jam on the way from Cheshire! Could you imagine that in the Premier League? I don't think Mr Bond was too impressed.

Re: Name the ex Claret
Someone cried off with illness and they had to make a late call to Gow to get there - it was one of the matches when Bond wasn't there at the end of the season.lewishamclaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 7:11 amI have a vague recollection of Gerry Gow arriving late for a game during the Bond era. Re: Name the ex Claret
Second picture. I also think it’s Stephen Fletcher.
Re: Name the ex Claret
Fletchers at Wrexham still playing, sporting a nifty little man bun so I don't think it's him.
An absolute class act at that level, in fact he was a class act at every level.

Does anyone remember the rather strange Gerry Gow fan who followed us at the start of 83/84? He disappeared when it was clear that Gow would not be figuring very much.

How about this one?
Re: Name the ex Claret
That must be why he was so late for all his tackles, by the time he got to us - he was 15 minutes behind!lewishamclaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 7:11 amI have a vague recollection of Gerry Gow arriving late for a game during the Bond era. Not John Pender.
This guy made his few Burnley appearances in the worst Burnley sides in our history and he was a stand out player, in that he looked below the standard required to be as bad as the rest of the team!

According to wiki he joined PNE after leaving Burnley.
Re: Name the ex Claret
Surprised at that CT. Never a first teamer but was a regular in the Reserves in the early 90s. Had a decent non league career at Accrington & Lancaster amongst others.

Never played for the first team, but played for a number of local non-league clubs after leaving us.
