Trafford – 6

Humphreys – 6
CJER – 6
Esteve – 8 – the one bright spot
Pires -6

Cullen – 6
Brownhill – 5

Hannibal – 5
Anthony – 4 – should have been subbed way way sooner.
Koleosho – 4 – like the kid at school that doesn’t pass and thinks he can beat the opposition by himself.

Foster – 5

Roberts – 6
Flemming – 4

Am delighted with a point because we didn’t deserve it after an awful toothless performance. Their goal should have stood.

We simply don’t look like scoring and it’s becoming a problem. Foster coming in for a lot of criticism but for me he’s the symptom not the problem. The passing and decision-making in the final third is abysmal. One shot on target.

There should be players knocking on Parker’s door this week.

Pray to God Esteve doesn’t get injured because he’s head and shoulders our best player.

That was nowhere near good enough today.

Anthony - 4
Cullen - 6
Brownhill - 6
Hannibal - 5
Koleosho - 4

Dross today and should be beating teams like PNE at home. Need some players back from injury asap so we can see the back of Egan-Riley and a new striker in January.

From Live TV.

Trafford - 6 - Couldn’t stop ‘the goal’ and did nothing wrong.

Humphreys - 6 - OK but that’s all. Some forward play but to little effect.

Egan-Riley - 5 - OK but deducted a point for stupid yellow.

Esteve - 8 - MoM - Stood out amongst the mediocrity on show. I can’t see how we can keep such a talent in the Winter Transfer Window. Far too good for us in our current form.

Pires - 6 - Usual performance, some good, some less good. Offered forward movement with a small amount of effect.

Cullen - 5 - Contributed almost nothing.

Brownhill - 6 - Some energy and movement all over the pitch first half but seemed to disappear after that. Stupid yellow.

Hannibal - 7 - Thought he was the pick of the non-defensive players today.

Koleosho - 5 - He does try hard but this was another ‘Plymouth’ performance - can’t beat a man for pace or trickery and too often goes down dead ends.

Anthony - 6 - OK, a small amount of creativity but little end product. Seemed lost second half.

Foster - 5 - Yes he gets poor service and yes he was fouled but he also got involved in feuds instead of just getting on with it. Offered nothing. Another stupid yellow.

Subs:

Roberts - 6 - No problem defensively and offered more then Humphreys going forward. Perhaps once he is integrated back in the side he might make a difference.

Flemming - 5 - offered nothing.

Oh dear. That was awful. Neither side looked much but at least Preston had some idea how to create chances. We again looked clueless in that department.

In the first half Preston were clearly the better side. They knew exactly what we were going to do before we did it. They created a few opportunities and scored a good goal. We offered nothing.

In the second half I don’t think we got better but somehow Preston got worse. They created little but nor did we. We had a legitimate penalty claim (shirt pulling on Anthony) so that’s us even!

Of course some are going to blame the dark arts of Heckingbottom but we played into their hands. All those little nudges in the back we gave their players took full advantage of. If we don’t do it they can’t. All three of our yellow cards were stupid.

At the moment we look a **** poor side that is somehow near the top of the table instead of its rightful place nearer the bottom.

Trafford 6 nothing to do

Humphreys 6 solid but reluctant to get forwards in support being played on the wrong side.

Esteve 8 Rolls Royce at this level. He's the one I'm concerned about losing next, it's only a matter of time

Egan-Riley 7 not sure where the criticism comes from lately. Solid and turn of pace for recovery

Pires 5 very wasteful in possession and next to no support going forwards.

Cullen 6 very 'meh' display. Crowd booing at backwards passes when in reality there were no other options forwards

Bronwhill 6 good engine again but not really involved with the ball

Hannibal 5 still not sure of his position, but little pressing today

Koleosho 3 wasted the ball on pretty much every occasion he had it. And I wish he'd stop grabbing opposition when chasing back, it's stopping the team press giving needless fouls away

Anthony 7 lively in the first half but stifled in the 2nd. Just needs to get his boots white and stay wide to create the gap between centre back and full back

Foster 4 hold up play abysmal for someone his size, which is crucial in this system. Didn't look to be willing/able to drive forward to support when the wide men had it in promising positions, his overall contribution is concerning. Not sure what other posters saw today but his work rate was also poor today

Roberts 6 solid but not too dissimilar to what Humphreys was offering

Sarmiento n/a

Trafford – 6 Please stop it giving away under no pressure

Humphreys – 5 Out of position. Stupid that Roberts didn't start
CJER – 6 Did ok
Esteve – 9 best on the pitch
Pires - 6 I can't think about what to say. Can't decide if he's good or not

Cullen – 8 Better 1st in the half but let down by those around him
Brownhill –5 much better in the 1st half but never a cm

Hannibal – 4 never should be played in a forward role. Creates nowt. I can't decide if he's playing in a 10 role or not. Him and Brownhill seem to alternate but either way
Anthony – 4 – crap
Koleosho – 3 – I'm not sure i've seen anyone give the ball away so much. Just runs into packs and blind alleys. He's been awful this season. I don't know if it's because he doesn't have an outlet but he was rubbish.
Foster - 4 Needs to be replaced. Just no where near good enough

Rubbish stuff. Poor performances all around including some worryingly weak stuff from some: powder puff challenges, lack of bite, failure to run.

However, most worrying is the pattern. Parker's way of playing is dire, too predictable and seemingly infected by the modern curse of possession at all costs. Unless you have the best players, playing with pace, hitting the wings and attacking with intent are always the more likely methods to succeed. We don't have shots, we don't cross the ball, we go backwards and sideways. So far, it's much worse than anything served up since the days of Cotterill. Tough to stomach.

No hiding that this was very, very poor.

Trafford - 5 - very little to do apart from one decent first half save but a little hesitant when Preston hit the bar and his distribution was too often ponderous.

Humphrys - 5 - Preston identified him as a weak link and they exposed it - particularly in possession. It's not obvious why he's being used as our back up right back.

Pires - 6- a couple of shaky moments defensively and a little too prone to coming inside but better than most in possession and the pass to create Anthony's first half chance was exquisite.

Egan Riley- 6 - defensively solid but another to be too ponderous in possession.

Esteve - 8 - excellent against a tough customer in Riis.

Cullen - 6 - not quite sure I understand how Parker is trying to use Cullen. We're not seeing him drop into those quarter back positions to get on the ball as we did under Kompany and he's less influential as a result.

Brownhill - 5 - probably should have done better from Koleosho's first half cross and foolishly got involved to get booked. Lacked composure on occasions.

Hannibal - 6 - the usual combination of tenacious endeavour, flashes of quality and occasional sloppiness but I thought he was unlucky to be substituted today.

Koleosho- 6 - a couple of useful crosses but fell into the trap of trying to do too much himself.

Anthony - 5 - I was surprised he started but he did little to justify it. Preston allowed him space on either flank and he didn't manage to exploit it and when he dud get the ball in space he was too tentative.

Foster - 5 - we just aren't playing to his strengths- he's not a false 9 dropping deep and he's not a battering ram who will occupy centre backs. But for all that he was far too easy for Preston to defend against and he has to be stronger with his back to goal and his movement needs to be sharper.

Roberts- 6 - we were far more balanced when he came on but his lack of game time showed.

After some promise in the first half against Plymouth, the last three halves have seen an alarming regression. Yes the ref helped Preston by failing to manage the game effectively to allow it to flow, but a combination of silly reactions leading to melees and some silly petulant fouls meant we more than helped the referee disrupt our own momentum on the rare occasions we got up a head of steam.

The second half was much better than an abject first period in which Preston were much the better team but it still wasn't very good and whilst we had more control we didn't actually trouble the goalkeeper once after the break. The team was too pedestrian, too rigid, too narrow and carried too little threat for the direct pass.

It's still early days but Parker has a lot of work to do on the training ground over the next fortnight. Even allowing for all the mitigations, three games without a goal from open play against teams likely to be in the bottom half of the league isn't good enough. As I write this Michael Obafemi has scored for Plymouth and we could use a striker like him right now.

Bashir 5
Egan Riley 6
Steve 9 Thank goodness we have him.
Pires 6
Koleosho 3 Runs up a lot of blind alleys.
Brownhill 6 Had a good chance to shoot in the second but turned away and passed sideways.
Cullen 4
Hannibal 7
Anthony 6 Had a few opportunities to put the ball in but no one was there and I think he just gave up bothering.
Foster 4 Needs dropping to the bench

Foster and E-R are clear weak links but others looking bereft of confidence. Far far too passive, slow in possession, not in their faces, allowing them to dictate the pace of the game (aided and abetted by the ref).

Trafford - 6 - yet again, nothing to do

Humphreys - 4 - a full back he isn’t
Egan-Riley - 6 - ok
Esteve - 7* - head and shoulders above the rest
Pires - 5 - not helped in possession either half

Cullen - 4 - a poor day at the office
Brownhill - 5 - a below par effort
Hannibal - 6 - at least showed for the ball and tried something other than a backwards pass

Koleosho - 4 — spent the day running down blind alleys full of white shirts
Foster - 3 - let’s be right - the lad is stealing a living. How he’s played a full game only SP knows. Said he won’t get 10 all season before a ball kicked - looking safer by the week. Crap
Anthony - 5 - had our only decent effort of the game

Roberts - 5 - should have started
Flemming - 5 - came on 28 minutes too late
Sarmiento - no real impact
Laurent - came on 86 minutes too late. Why he’s not starting is utterly baffling

Garbage. Gaffer needs to stop kidding himself with that starting eleven. Unbelievably slow with the ball, no movement up top or out wide. Midfielders getting bossed pretty much every game - winning little or no second ball. Just truly woeful to watch

Trafford 5 faffed around to much, dodgy moments also
Humphreys 5 hmmmm
Egan-Riley 6 showed passion at least
Estève 9 MOM quality.
Pires 4 I've a better first touch
Cullen 4 boring player, sideways or backwards.
Brownhill 4
Anthony 5 only decent chance
Hannibal 6
Koleosho 5 blind alley again, learn to bloody pass
Foster 3 because you can't give lower. He's robbing a living. I feel sorry that he gets poor service but he looks throughly peed off. Terrible attitude.

Roberts 6
Parker 3, we can attack,we can entertain, we can start with the best players.

The rest 5

Parker - completely to blame for this turgid, terrible c**p.

Trafford 6 too slow when he has the ball
Humphreys 5
Egan-Riley 5 not good enough
Esteve 9 far too good for this league
Pires 5 he proves the data signings don't work
Cullen 6

Foster 5 offered absolutely nothing again

Roberts 5 no improvement on Humphreys
Laurent 6 has to start
Flemming 5 didn't do much today but has to start now to help out attacking threat and Foster

Negative football in every sense. No desire to commit players forward. No pace or urgency. A total and utter nothing performance. A blind man on a galloping horse can see that Cullen, Brownhill and Hannibal will never work. Parker-ball appears to be far worse than even the Bournemouth and Fulham fans said.

Trafford 5 - distribution needs to be quicker and sharper
Humphries 3 - rightly hooked at HT
Estève 8 - MoM by a mile
Egan-Riley 5 - just about ok, but clearly not a first choice CB
Pires 5 - pretty much the only one who tries to get forward
Cullen 3 - he's not the metronome he was for VK because our intention is always sideways and backwards, so I'm afraid Josh offers nothing to the team
Brownhill 4 - a bad day at the office today, sloppy on the ball. He was the only one who tried to make a run in behind though.
Hannibal 5 - needs to play deeper as his contribution in the final third is zero, but the best of a very bad midfield three today
Koleosho 3 - like watching a kid in a schoolyard, dreadful
Anthony 4 - he gets an extra point for having our only shot on target, but other than that he looked pretty toothless
Foster 3 - he might be isolated, but he needs to show more than this. Backing into a CB and then falling over because the CB dares to push past is not enough. Whether you're a Lyle fan or not, he simply doesn't work in this set-up.

Flemming 5
Roberts 5
Sarmiento 5

Trafford - 6 - nothing to do except the Brady effort that was straight at him
Humphreys - 5 - not a RB
CJ - 6 - better suited to RB, but other than his slow passing, didn’t do much wrong
Esteve - 8 - head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch
Pires - 6 - meh
Cullen - 5 - seems really off it since he’s come back
Brownhill - 6 - busy self but did nothing of note
Hannibal - 7 - tried to get things going, nothing in front of him though
Koleosho - 3 - one trick pony, take his pace away and he’s not a threat at all
Foster - 6 - worked hard first half, pressed well, albeit on his own
Anthony - 4 - soft, looks scared to be taken out, bar one shot in first half, did nothing

Trafford 6
Humphreys 5
Egan-Riley 6
Esteve 8* (makes it look easy)
Pires 7 (improving and linked up well with Antho y in first half)
Koleosho 5 (trying too hard)
Cullen 6
Brownhill 5
Hannibal 6 (not a number 10)
Anthony 7 (good first half but less impact once he’s switched wings)
Foster 4 (offers very little)

Egan-Riley 6 - ok
Esteve 8* - thank god for him
Pires 6 - ok
Cullen 5 - nothing
Brownhill 5 - nothing
Koleosho 5 - headless chicken
Hannibal 5 - dreadful first touch
Anthony 4 - truly awful
Foster 6 - tried a bit

Insipid performance that’s becoming a worrying trend. Deserved nothing.

Trafford 6 too slow with the ball.. again
Humphries 5 played out of position again, looks a bang average championship player. Certainly not worth the fee mentioned
Estève 8** he'll be gone come January, way above this level and team
Egan Riley 5 squad player at best and it shows today
Pires 7 very lively in the 1st and worked well with Anthony but faded in the 2nd.
Cullen 5 pretty much anonymous
Brownhill 5
Hannibal 6 1st half braked up there play quite alot without being noticed.
Koleosho 5 another headless performance, has the pace but no end product
Anthony 5 hope we don't sign him, lively but there's nothing at the end, linked well with Pires in the 1st half
Foster 7

Flemming 5
Roberts 6 glad to see him come on, added more play and better passing

I don't get the formation play.. seems 4-6-0 no one ever in the box when we break

Woeful
A chance to go top of the league for 2 weeks, a derby, you'd expect the players to be up for it. FLAT as a wet fart.

Biggest disappointment is we appear to have learnt nothing from Tuesdays no show. You can't win games if you don't score, and you don't score enough goals when you move the ball as slowly as we do.

That was bad. 1 shot on target against a poor Preston team at home in a Lancashire derby. No entertainment and no excitement.

I want to like Scott Parker and I do like him as a man, but hell fire his football is truly woeful. Sterile and stilted. It can’t carry on like this.

Exactly the same scores for me. Really abject dull performance. Whilst Preston deserved nothing from it,and tried to ruin the game along with the abysmal ref, we could have played for another 2 hours and not scored. No attacking threat whatsoever. One shot on target. It’s not working with Foster.

Frustrating. Need to come out firing at home and zip it around rather than this laborious sideways stuff. Would have been nice to set up like this last year (try not to get beat) but the opposition in this league are dross, and the way Esteve is playing at the back we don’t need to worry too much about getting done on the break. Hannibal shouldn’t be highest of the three (Brownhill?) - Foster is doing my head in but what chance has he got with that gap. I thought Flemming has shown he will be good and he should start together with Foster next game instead of one of the current 3. Get us up the field ffs. And please never play a left-footer at right back again, or vice versa.

Still happy to give Parker the benefit of the doubt considering where we are and the summer upheaval. Just concerned about what the plan is. He might have got Fulham and Bournemouth up with this formula but didn’t he have Mitrovic and Solanke? Who is going to score the goals?
