Koleosho
Koleosho
When he's got so much pace why does he insist on coming inside everytime?
His best attribute is rapid pace, why not go past his man everytime and beat him for pace instead of running inside and in to bodies.
He really needs to work on his end product too because right now all I see is another Adama Traore

Re: Koleosho
I think he should play up the middle Nathan Tella style.

Re: Koleosho
I think we need to lay off him, the pressure on him to create is crazy, before signing for us he had made 3 senior appearances, then just as he is coming to he does his knee and misses 9 months. He’s a raw talent who is going to make lots of mistakes.bumba wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 9:24 pmWhen he's got so much pace why does he insist on coming inside everytime?

Odobert had come off a full season in ligue 1 before signing for us

He’s an interesting one, I personally think he’s struggling with the weight of expectations. Last season he was an unknown entity and impressed as the underdog, this season he’s been touted as a 30 odd million pound player.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 9:31 pmI think we need to lay off him, the pressure on him to create is crazy, before signing for us he had made 3 senior appearances, then just as he is coming to he does his knee and misses 9 months. He needs to start doing the basics, I agree with the OP he needs to start by getting the bi line and getting some crosses in

He needs to spend a week or two training with Glenn Little and Robbie Blake.
Teach him end product and a football brain.

His end product is awful, nothing to do with foster. If 40m off wolves is still on in Jan. I'm sure he will get a lift off most on here free of charge.Cleveleys_claret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 9:49 pmBecause he knows if he makes it to the byline to put a cross in Foster won't be there

Today he was double up, sometimes tripled up. He needed help from Humphreys or Hannibal/brownhill to drag a player away from him.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 9:49 pmHe’s an interesting one, I personally think he’s struggling with the weight of expectations. There’s certainly times that koleosho does run into blind alleys and tries to do too much when he could play more simple.
If he was the finished article he wouldn’t of been available from Espanyol for 2m

I do agree, he should benefit from the return of Roberts.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 9:58 pmToday he was double up, sometimes tripled up. He needed help from Humphreys or Hannibal/brownhill to drag a player away from him.

I did find it a really strange decision to swap him over to the left just as we brought Roberts on.
I appreciate he’s not the finished product, but right now he is probably the most valuable player in this decision and there will be a lot of expectations on his shoulders

Yeah I didn’t understand moving him to the left either because as much we koleosho clearly prefers the left he looks a lot more comfortable from the right than Anthony.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 10:08 pmI do agree, he should benefit from the return of Roberts.

This is why I would honestly try foster from the right, he could potentially play the tella position, even though he doesn’t have the same pace

Foster and Flemming have got to be the central pair

Re: Koleosho
I think you are taking a massive part of Sarmientos game out to from the right because of his ability to cut in and whip and ball, but he is defo more comfortable than Anthony.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 10:16 pmI would personally start Sarmiento there and drop Anthony.

If Tresor is seriously in the thinking then he should surely be more than capable of playing from the right in the championship

Might we sell him in January and purchase 3 top Championship players?

Re: Koleosho
What is needed with a solid structure is some magic, that way we can have a solid base but the flair gets the wins. If we only have three attacking players they are easy to mark unless there is a trick, something to conjure up a goal or assist, because we don’t commit enough forward for overloads.
That clearly isn’t Luca or Anthony, or Lyle. We have a workmanlike side with a bit of pace but fairly orthodox delivery. I feel we also need something different. Tresor would be ideal. But I’m not sure Parker is the kind of guy to trust that kind of player. Sarmiento is more promising too.

Re: Koleosho
Koleosho is a great talent, sometimes its the slower minded players who fail to react, or cant react when a speedier footballer creates openings. pointless carving a path through defences when there's nobody available to act on his skill.we have no one sharp enough around him to capitalise . we desperatley need some equally sharp striker to bang a few in.

There’s a clear difference in the level of opposition this seasonTheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 10:34 pmNot sure how you've come up with your Foster on the right idea but didn't you see him when shunted out there to play Fofana last season?
Re: Koleosho
I mean he’s our ONLY real attacking threat, give the ball to Luca and hope he can make magic is our only attacking option. Easy for the opposition to just stick 3 players on him.
If he gets to the byline who is he crossing too? There’s never anybody in the box.

Re: Koleosho
If Tresor was fit enough to go on loan in August why is he still unfit for us? I am sure no team would sign a player on loan who would still be unfit to play.

You'd drop our one player who actually tries to shoot - a slight exaggeration I know but yesterday he was our most likely scorer, not that that says much.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 10:16 pmI would personally start Sarmiento there and drop Anthony.

Re: Koleosho
We haven’t scored a goal from open play in nearly 5 hours so something needs to change. Our main goal threat has come from Anthony’s (few) shots. No one runs past Foster into the box so Flemming seems the obvious choice to start and we need to commit another midfielder further forward.
Koleosho may run down the odd blind alley but he occupies defenders and we need to make the freedom that gives to the others count.

Re: Koleosho
Koleosho and Anthony are receiving the ball in static situations with the opposition defence set and doubled up. The more defensive teams we've played are doing a Dyche; force the ball wide with a low block and defend from there.
As such he's trying too much when he does get the ball. It's not a lack of ability, he's simply attempting the impossible. The lack of a final product is a result of not being in positions to deliver it, rather than an inability to do so.
I agree with someone above who says fullbacks pushing on are key to that. But so is a 10 like flemming who can take the ball further up the pitch. Foster than becomes an option on the shoulder. Koleosho can move on the inside of their fullback to receive a pass, Roberts then gets space on the outside etc.
He's a top player with bags of ability. But he's trying too much because we're asking too much of him in situations that favour the defender.

Re: Koleosho
Play him in his best position. He's wasted on the right. Also, given how high Preston defended that we never really looked to exploit his pace in behind was unforgivable. We worked that tactic well in Parkers first game and yesterday was crying out for it.

I’d play Kolesho up front with Fleming and get Sarmiento on the wing alongside Anthony.

Like a Kolly he boxes them in
Like they're all set to watch only him
He can run like an arrow
But the rest are too narrow
Needs more thrust on the opposite wing

A picture on insta is hardly conclusive of anything, but in my monthly "where is Mike Tresor" check, his posts from 6 days ago suggests he isn't in the North West of England at the moment!
I hope I'm wrong but I can't see Tresor pulling on a Burnley shirt again.
