Re: Foster
Not good news, is it.
Re: Foster
Where does it say he is the Burnley Footballer Lyle Foster
you would have thought it might have mentioned that
Re: Foster
He doesn't help himself. I have big question marks about his character to be honwst at this point following his displays at the back end of last season where he clearly wasn't putting any effort in for one as well as not getting himself fit enough.
On top of this and his performances again this season, something isn't quite right because we've seen what he can do at his best.

Perhaps police have seen his last few games and don’t class him as a footballer

Fine and costs meaningless. Didn’t need to bother attending court. Can afford a full time driver. What a punishment.

It could also have been for erratic driving though or positional awareness on the public highway?warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 4:07 pmIn fairness if its for speeding, its the only time this season
Bit like his off the ball runs and positional awareness on the field of play. Poor.

I'd suggest that it is the best interests of our club and getting promoted for people to resist having a go Foster.

Re: Foster
I too wondered if this was 'our' Lyle Foster, as when I read the article my first reaction was surprise at how low the fine was, given our LF's likely wages:
Three friends were recently convicted of identical speeding offences - all in a line on separate motorcycles - and while they all received identical points each got a significantly different (£180 to £1900) fine based on their earnings. Paul's no doubt making a serious wedge, but I doubt it's anywhere near what ,'our' Lyle Foster will be earning.

Re: Foster
Bit of a coincidence being 24 but you’d have thought the paper would have picked up on it if he was Burnley’s Foster, and even though he’s had problems there’s no excuse for repeat speeding and if it had been Marcus Rashford he’d have really been slated on this board

He doesn't even have to have been driving to commit the offence he was prosecuted for

Me too, but I don’t think that should stop you- it’s pile onto Foster season at the moment. The latest in a long line of players that parts of the fan base would rather not succeed than support.

Re: Foster
The “repeat offence” could just be not providing details of who was driving the vehicle, whenever he’s been asked
Re: Foster
Absolutely correct
And the original offence could be something like creeping into a bus lane
The truth is, we don't know, as the report from court doesn't say, yet conclusions have been jumped to on here that he is a serial speeder, of which there is no evidence of at all.

Re: Foster
Agree we need to be very sympathetic to Lyle, his troubles are long term but it seems at that time mid Nov he was in a very dark place. Also, how does South African culture deal with black folk giving their name to police officers? Could very well be something many of them refuse to do, so we shouldn’t look at it through our own cultural lens, for better or for worse we are a multicultural society now.

Re: Foster
My guess would be that getting pulled up in Knutsford is a little bit different than getting pulled up in Soweto and that any South Africans that have lived abroad for years are more than capable of differentiating the two.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 8:28 amAlso, how does South African culture deal with black folk giving their name to police officers? In terms of your last point it’s for the better btw - or not many of us would be here enjoying the freedoms and living standards we do.
Re: Foster
It can’t be our Lyle Foster as he is described as a defendant and we all know our Lyle is an attacker.

Re: Foster
He will be fine.
Most games he has a hobble and goes down. I am sure this is similar. No brace on his knee, just an ice bag.....

I don't think I've ever even criticised Foster, let alone "pile into him".
