Competitively in England ? Or anywhere infact ?
Just seeing Ashley Youngs son made his professional debut for Peterborough, would be interesting if they draw each other in the FA Cup
Would would happen in a 50/50 ?

Ian (dad) and Gary (son) Bowyer played in the same team for Hereford. Ian was player/manager at the time.
I don't know of any that played against each other though.

Again in the same team didn't Sam Allardyce and his son Craig play together for Preston?

My son played against Ashley Young's son's team in Letchworth, I would say probably at under 9 or under 10 levels so 9-10 years ago. At a time when other players in those age groups were learning how to kick a ball properly, he was running rings around the opposition and firing in shots from 25 yards out. The gap in ability between him and every other player on the pitch was as wide as the Grand Canyon.

Michael Hardcastle wrote a book where Andy (father) and Bobby Blair (son) played in the same England team. But I don't suppose fiction is what you had in mind!

David Herd (later of Arsenal and Manchester United) played alongside his father for Stockport in the early 1950s. A very underrated player if you look at his goalscoring record.

Eiður Guðjohnsen is the son of Arnór Guðjohnsen, who was also an Icelandic international footballer. Eiður made his full international debut for Iceland as a substitute for his father in 1996.

As a kid a used to play football on the field next to our house with Joe Garner (PNE, Notts Forrest, Rangers player). He was a year younger than me and 3 years younger than my brother. He ran rings around both of us. A 3 year age difference is massive when you’re 10 but he was so much better than us.
Has to be a degree of natural talent

And Eidur and Arnor do not remember it with fondness, both are angry that they could not play on the pitch together at the same time.
The Icelandic FA wanted that to happen in Iceland 2 months later in a World Cup Qualifier but a month before Eidur broke his leg and by the time he was fit again to play Arnor had retired.

Bumping this thread after the FA Cup 3rd round draw yesterday.
Everton v Peterborough which means Ashley Young could possibly end up playing against his son ??
Iv read this will be the first time it has ever happened professionally in English football ?
