Re: Booing
Almost every week someone comes up with the old chestnut "worst we've played in xx years". You would think we were second from bottom rather than second from top. This team has miraculously got us to this position, but planning for major surgery in our squad needs to be starting now with a serious striker in place in the early part of the window rather than the back-end

So the one touch football that brought a few chances early doors and left QPR scrambling to defend was slow and predictable?jlup1980 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:47 pmHarry Kane wouldn't score in this team. It was a woeful performance in every area. The only player who played the ball with purpose was Egan-Riley. Everyone else moved the ball in such a pedestrian fashion it was like watching a training match.
It was so slow and predictable from first to last minute. So much so that I failed to get off my seat once in 90 minutes. We had all the ball against a team who had no intention of engaging until we got into the final third and still made about 300 passes between the back 4. We didn't move the ball anywhere near quickly enough to catch them out of position. Utter garbage.
The utter garbage is your view on things.
Harry Kane would have scored 5 today in that performance.

If we win the league we should hand the trophy back

Why are you supporting this so hard?
You have never had a positive word to say about BFC on here since Parker walked through the door?
Why?
Are you trying so hard to justify your negativity about Kompany by pretending this is brilliant?
It comes across as fake and I see right through it.
Re: Booing
Not really getting this boring stuff angle from today
Thought we played some good stuff in patches and created more than enough to win the game quite comfortably
Kompany had finishers in the last 15 to sneak games like today. Currently Parker doesn't. I'm starting to find all this vitriol towards the manager quite boring tbh.

Would VK be doing any better? I don't think so.
Was last season better football? Absolutely not.
We're 2nd in a tough league without a pre season and a squad that got ripped apart two games in.
It's called understanding football something you struggle with.
How today can be classed as slow and predictable is laughable, how many blocks and last ditch tackles were they?
Honestly I've heard of claret tinted specs but VK tinted specs are ruining a lot of 'fans' lives

I don't boo often, not since the Cotterill days actually, but that was absolutely unforgivable today. Nil nil versus the worst team in the league, and their keeper didn't have a proper save to make. Forget possession stats, they don't matter. What matters is putting the ball in the net and we wouldn't have done that had we played until Christmas.
Boring, slow, and predictable. No urgency, no desire to win the game, no quality in the final third. Just turgid, horrific football... worst than Dyche-ball, worse than the garbage Cotterill served up. The reason I booed is because it is all of those things by design. This is what Parker-ball is. I will get behind any Burnley team that has a purpose. We had no purpose today. A clueless bunch of players trying to execute a non-existent game plan that involves doing everything at half pace.
Parker has said himself that today is as good as we've been this season. Seriously? What planet is he on. If today was peak Parker-ball he can pack his bags and leave tonight for me.
Re: Booing
It's people who's football knowledge extent is how many goals we scored. We scored 1 less than Wednesday therefore we are worse
Re: Booing
We murdered them today. Their defenders stood up like men and played like our back 4 used to play, every week.
So we'll done them and we'll done us. We do need a centre forward who can be a presence in the box though.

75% possession.
22 shots v 2
43 touches in their box.
10 excellent blocks from their defenders.
Smothered them to death.

Discussed the match with my grandson, who just commented he had more fun in his Maths test on Friday.
He's not that keen on Maths.
I thought they defended well; en masse.
Neither of us booed.

You, Newcastle and CoolClaret were so against VK you’re pretending to be over the moon with Parker, it’s hilarious.

No. There isn’t a chance in hell.
Firstly, they’d need to be able to read to understand what you were asking.
Secondly, they’d need to be able to write to reply to your reasonable request.
Thirdly, they’d need to be able to reason.
Fourthly, they’d need to be able to remember that they’d actually booed.

Not sure a centre forward would solve our goal scoring problem.
Harry Kane would struggle to score in this side, just like he did in GS’s England side…
Having said that, 2-0 at half time
Would not have flattered us today. Second half? Meh….

Re: Booing
I’m fully behind Parker 100%, I’d be amazed if anyone could have dealt with the summer situation and rebuild a team. We’re 2nd in the league and conceding next to nothing.
But come on, home against one of the bottom teams and we are playing with 1 striker- these games need 2. In fact switching to a back 3 with 3 up front wouldn’t of been a stupid set up today.

Re: Booing
I get the OP’s question, however threads like this are just created so that those with the moral high ground can castigate those who express negativity.
The question was asked why certain people were booing and some posters responded honestly based on what they had witnessed this afternoon. The fact is we all don’t see games and performances in the same way and people should be entitled to their views.
It is a messageboard at the end of the day. I know booing isn’t constructive, however some did and explained why they did when questioned.
Comments like f@ck off to watch City then or don’t go on the Turf again are about as constructive as the actual booing.

Re: Booing
I wonder what sensible support Parker is getting . He oversaw over 30 outgoings and incomings after his first pre season/summer camp, then presumably told he had to work with the existing coaches ie Jackson and the Dutch coach appointed soon after VK departed. For me Jackson appears to be a very passive coach and maybe if Parker had the correct right hand man, that coach may have been saying we need to change things round at HT not at 70 mins. I am hoping Parker is supported in the next window because for a club expecting promotion our striker department is a shambles

As you say people are entitled to their views, but when someone says that that was the worst performance in 40yrs, are you surprised those views get questioned?

Re: Booing
Booing isn`t necessarily a reflection of the team performance but as I see it it`s more indicative of the fact that some fans don`t particularly agree with the way the team play which whilst I personally didn`t boo at the end felt that I had just witnessed another Parker bore fest because I feel these players have more to offer than what we are seeing but seem restricted by managerial preferences, it`s so rinse and repeat type of football and somewhere along the line we need to remove what I see as shackles and just go for it, it doesn`t help when a manager seems to be happy with what we have just witnessed and other than this message board haven`t spoke to anybody and there have been quite a few who were happy with what they saw today, so how else other than booing at the end of the match do supporters make their feelings known to the manager how they feel about the performance
Re: Booing
Yes I know where you are coming from, however to say you were intrigued as to why people booed is stretching it a little. Are you saying you weren’t expecting any at the end of the game?Row x wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 9:01 pmI asked the question because I was intrigued why people booed, at what wasn't the worst performance this season, not to take any moral high ground

You are correct that it wasn’t the worst performance in 40 years but as a long term Burnley supporter you would have known that a section of our support were going to boo that performance, it’s nothing new, it was happening when I started watching the clarets in the sixties. People pay their money, if they want to boo a perceived poor performance then that’s up to them. I don’t boo and have never booed, even in the Adamson out days, which actually weren’t that bad looking at it retrospectively. I agree it isn’t constructive.
In Madrid they just wave white handkerchiefs when they don’t like what they see.

People booed because they were frustrated, presumably. I'm more on the side of we're doing well to be second given the hand that the manager was dealt, but it's a tough watch at the minute.

No it won't. That's down to the players, manager and associated staff available to him. Applauding today, as far as I'm concerned, was not appropriate. A lot of people on here seem to decry booing as being anathema within the supporter base. For me it was and remains a perfectly legitimate way of expressing my mood towards the performance I'd just witnessed. If you and others were happy with it then that's fine by me but I definetly wasn't. I 've seen plenty of varying performances since my first game 66 years ago next weekend. I know what is good and I didn't think that was the case today.

Anyone who pays to go on has the right to express their opinion however they may choose to .
whether it does any good or not is another matter.
If it makes the perpetrators feel better then I suppose that justifies it.
