Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
Consulting the font of all wisdom on here.
Me plus Mrs Alf looking for a warm, sunny week away in November.
Decent hotel, quiet (for an old couple but not totally decrepit !) within a 2 or 3 hour flight.
Looking for half-board or b n b.
Suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Alf.

Burnley was like the Mediterranean today, so maybe Barrowford or Barnoldswick.

Bit longer flight but definitely the Canaries, Tenerife ( avoid the north it can be windy) is nice in November, Costa Adeje perhaps.

Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
Morocco- Marrakesh for culture or Agadir/Tagazhiut for more relaxed beachy type. Slightly longer but under 4hrs.
We will probably end up going again in January when it will average 20-25 degrees. Plenty of bargains to be had on travel zoo/secret escapes/tripadvisor etc

Weather wise, it's pot luck in the Canaries this time of year.
Just back from Tenerife, had ten days there and it was cloudy
half the time.
That said, if you hit it right, it can be boiling hot.

Bargains to be had but do the research on the hotels and the deal.

Also in Paphos, been 26/27 for a week with no clouds at all. Not sure how long it stays like this, feels like the last weeks of the season bar/tourism wise though.
Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
Without a doubt I recommend Los Cristianos in Tenerife.
I have been there six times over the years and loved every time.

Me and the Mrs went about 15 years ago at this time of year and it was about 12 degrees all week, hated every minute of the trip, I should give it another chance now I've grown up a bitLoyalclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:23 amAlso in Paphos, been 26/27 for a week with no clouds at all. Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
People are suggesting going further than a 2/3 hr flight, which seems a good idea in November. I think the suggestions made are good ones.

They would be good ones, had the request not been for a 2 or 3 hour flight, for which there might be a valid reason for requesting.

Albufeira is normally OK first week in Nov (been twice in 21 and 23)
20 odd degrees, some rain maybe but generally sunny and nice

I would if I knew anywhere within the requested flight time, but the only place I have knowledge of in November is tenerife, which can be a 4 and a half hour flight.

Recently back from a week in Seville. We had an apartment through bookings.com but I had nothing to do with that. Wonderful city and we also took a train ride to Cordoba for a day. Fills all your criteria.

Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
Always a bummer when the weather is poor in places 'build' for sun! To be fair the appeal of walking on the coatal path to the harbour or town, boat trips and walking around the outdoor archaeological site* wouldnt be as interesting in the rain!Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:40 amMe and the Mrs went about 15 years ago at this time of year and it was about 12 degrees all week, hated every minute of the trip, I should give it another chance now I've grown up a bit
*this probably wont sound interesting to everyone

Marrakesh (or somewhere else in Morocco)
Seville
Olu deniz (Turkey) - I visited in September not November but should still be in the early 20's by all accounts, but you're looking at a 4 hour flight time there from UK.

Madeira. Went last year. 25 degrees 13th November
Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
Cyprus is a super choice in the winter. Further than the requested flight time though.
My partner is sunning it in Costa Brava at present, where she used to live. Short flight.

Consider Malta. About 25 degrees and the Maltese people actually seem to like us. A bit longer flight time but nay too bad. No language problems at all.

For anyone that doesn't know Playa de las Americas is right next door to my suggestion of Los Cristianos.
And IMO for those of an older persuasion Los Cristianos would maybe be a better place to go to than las Americas.
Just my opinion of course.

Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
To be fair there's probably only a 100yd stretch that us oldies don't venture to in Las americas, the rest of it is very senior friendly.

Los Cristianos is brilliant, some great bars like Taylor's, Chicagos and a good seafront.
Top resort.

Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
If that's for me, yes
The rest has family friendly bars and restaurants both inland and all along the front, we're up to about 30 visits now, and split our days between Las Americas and Los christ, both fantastic resorts at this time of year, though the flights of over 4hrs can be a pain
Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
Many thanks again for the helpful suggestions.
Yes, we'll prob have to have a longer flight time than 2/3 hrs to get a decent chance of sun.
Currentlly researching Malta.
Thanks again.

Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
Malta is great, but check the weather that time of year, it's not a year round destination for sun. We've been in October, and had days of rain and wind. We always go for a fortnight, so a few days rain, I can put up with, but if only going for a week or less those rain days could spoil the trip
Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
I've lost count of how many times I have been to Malta. We used to go every New Year and we have only ever had rain once. They said it hadn't been like that since 1956
. Sitting outside the bars in the sun on New Years Day was lovely. It did get a bit chilly at night. If you choose Malta depending what you want, check the resorts. We liked the night life so always stayed in St. Julians/Pacheville. Mellieha Bay is the quietest place which is usually a beach holiday. A lot of people go to Qawra/Bugibba which is quite busy. There is quite a lot to do so we hired a car (same side of the road as us) but you can get round on the buses. In winter, on a Sunday, they have the trotters in Valletta so it was market first then the racing. Also Mosta Dome, Silent City (Mdina), Popeye Village and Gozo.

Re: Warm, sunny, November hol suggestions
Another shout here for Los Cristianos, every chance of decent weather this time of year (certainly more so than the North of the Island) and not full of the summer season idiots who frequent the Veronica’s strip…Taylor’s Lounge for the footy and The Vault if you fancy live music…plenty of decent bars along the front…I’m off there for my pre Xmas sun injection in a few weeks

Madeira, Tenerife, Lanzarote - That’s where we will be from this coming Saturday on a cruise. We went the same time last year and the weather was awesome

I've only been to Malta once in the year Italy won the World Cup and I think it was 1982.Commy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 10:43 pmI've lost count of how many times I have been to Malta. Stayed in Bugibba and it was one of the hottest temperatures on record. Hotel swimming pool had sea water in it. Jump in the pool and it was too warm.
The people especially the older ones were lovely and welcoming.
I had to laugh after asking one of the locals what side of the road they drive on?
His reply was "Wherever the shade is"
