Your incisive report and personal comments are a worry
CT as you are a half cup full Claret
You are now posting like me a 74 season claret with much to commend my half empty approach
These are worrying times for us and falling down this league is not faraway unless SP and the squad change format
In recent years the bottom half have been our fodder
Kept us up in 2016 until 2021/22 and fattened us up in 2022/23
These last 9 games have been awful vis a vis points goals and TBH enjoyment

I suppose it sums up this match that our MOM was our right back in a home match against a team second bottom who didn't record a shot on target all the game.

Wait a minute, according to many on here we played really well on Saturday so that report can’t be right……

Good report. Spot on. It is boring and sadly this is the norm now and not the exception under this manager.

Report sums things up well.
Lots of teams (particularly the ones at the wrong end of the table) will come and set
up shop just like QPR did.
That's their perfect right to do that and it's up to us to have the ability to break them down.
As said in the report, we have to start getting the goals flowing and soon.
Our current position isn't going to last long if we don't.

What happens when we start to play teams in the top half of the table?

I can see this season being a total waste of time (And of a parachute payment).

We have gone so far backwards under Parker in only a few months, how much further damage can he do in a full year?

It's worrying that none of our long term injured players that theoretically look like they could improve matters seem anywhere close to returning imminently

Some things we can't do much about atm, like the injuries and lack of creativity and we will have to be patient. However, some things we defo can change now.

We have to get more players forward especially both fullbacks to help our wingers who are double marked or worse. However, we must leave enough height in the team to be able to defend set pieces. Atm teams don't seem be interested in trying to get corners, but we have to be wary.

As well as CJ is playing I'd play Humps at cb so Pires can play left back. Although with Lauren in cm we could just play Pires at lb.

Very frustrating. Not sure SP is one who can change things during a game, all seems one dimensional.
I almost long for the 442 system of SD, with Tarks pinging those long beautiful diagonal balls !
Perhaps this game plan of SP is more suited for away games when the home team comes at us more.

Our right back who played almost the entire game in midfield. The modern term is inverted full back.

Yes, excellent report. Resigned to not seeing us score with plenty of game time remaining is an indictment of this current squad under this very 'beige' manager. Slow, slow and slower it became, a couple of minutes left and the ball still being played sidewards and backwards. No guile, no direction and most definetly nothing to cheer about. Boring is very apt for that showing.

I'm a little more upbeat. I pretty much expect us to struggle against lower table teams. Teams looking to get 3 points are not going to leave 11 men in the final third all game so different opportunities arise. Yes we need to find a way but I was impressed that the whole team appeared to be putting in a shift.

Brownhill on Instagram today gave a good summary:

‘Dominant performance until the final bit at the weekend. Frustrating but second in the league and 9 unbeaten. Long season ahead still.’

So you don’t agree it is frustrating (we didn’t win) and that we are 9 games unbeaten and 2nd? May I ask which part of that are you disagreeing with?

He’s spot on. It was dominant, it was frustrating, it was the final bit. But we are second and that’s really good at this point.

Sounds like a pointed reminder to the fans. I hope a divide doesn't build between team and supporters but if there's many more of these displays in the coming weeks then it may start to become an issue.

I think there will already be a divide with the players and some of the fans .....

2nd in the league and some are acting like we are in the relegation zone (Luton)

I think JB is bang on

I just hope they know and are told that it's still a minority that are grumbling ....

That was the second game I have attended this season, just a repeat of the 0-0 at Oxford.
The words I noted in CT’s report are “tedious” and “bored” I know they are second in the league and football has changed etc but it’s just not an enjoyable experience watching the current team.

There was a lot of quality play in the first half and had we scored people would be talking about a professional performance etc.

The fact is there are no strikers currently fit who are capable at this level. Jay Rod is a good player but he's 35. I don't think there is a striker in the club who is naturally suited to playing this system.

Again, the lack of firepower was mentioned prior to the start of the season on here. It's not a surprise we are having the problems we are...! As it is I agree with those who saw quite an improvement on Saturday.

Parker perhaps could go 4-4-2 with Jay Rod and Flemming other than that there are relatively few options available to him.

CT: Just a very pedantic note to say that you left Flemming out of the line up at the end of your piece, otherwise a good report that succinctly summarises the current state of play on and off the pitch.

Excellent report , which I totally agree with. I think if the performance is looked at in isolation and that we weren’t playing the bottom of the league, it’s not too bad , the big problem is that it is on the back of many more insipid performances this season , therefore not leaving any encouragement that things will improve.

I think a lot of people are missing the improvement in our performances over the last few games.
Probably blinded by the bluntness of our attack which will be sharpened after the next international break .

Easy fix, starts with Parker not playing a negative lineup with 3 defensive midfielders starting at home to utter shite like QPR. No wonder we aren’t putting the ball in the net.

That Hull game was as bored as I’ve been watching Burnley since Dyches first 6 months.

I was there, and the 2nd half didn't feel like that

Spoke to several hull fans after the game in the pub and they were very impressed with us, said we were one of the best teams they've played so far.
Strange Burnley fans see it differently

Same here. I thought the QPR first half was probably the best the new look squad has performed. The second half shows the lack of depth, there were limited options on that bench. I would like to see two strikers added and with Redmond/Ramsey back I would hope goals would be scored. The chaotic transfer window means there is a lot to answer for and I'm not understanding the rush to attack Parker or boo the team. The issues being confronted by Parker were caused higher up.
