Next manager

Post by burnley007 » Mon Oct 28, 2024 8:42 am

I know, I know, you all hate me because I want the tedious one gone.

But bear with, bear with...

If I did get my wish and we got rid of the tedious one, who would you want to replace him?

Carlos Corberan?
Bo Henriksen?
Henrik Rydstrom?
Thierry Henry?
Frank Lampard?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?
Kasper Hjulmand?

Igor Tudor was my 1st choice last time, still available.

There's only one tedious one, that's you

I don't hate you, because I don't know you, but you do come across as weird

Carlos Corberan for starters is not that much different to Parker here’s some thoughts from WBA message board. Sound familiar.

A Frustrating watch.
Quite some vocal discontent around our seats today.

Essentially the continual reluctance to press forward with an early pass began to grate. At times both Swift and Mowatt were interchanging passes alongside the back 4 with both wingers open… so very frustrating.

Positives were Heggem and Styles. I hope McNair’s injury is not serious as it seems to me that Heggem and McNair should be our first choice central defenders. Can Holgate play LB ?

I felt Swift was disappointing as indeed was Grady and Maja initial form is dwindling somewhat.

As mentioned many times, it does seem that we struggle to convert possession into threats in the final third and do not have an alternative?

Starting selection strange - but I sure CC had a plan.

Henry and 0GS in my opinion probably think they are bit better than Burnley, so wouldn’t come here.

Lampard is known for developing younger players and giving them a chance. Best placed finish in the Championship was in the playoffs. Struggled at Everton and Chelsea albeit in trying circumstances, but has no real track record.

Hjulmand decent track record in Denmark and did ok with the National team. Similar in style to Southgate who he is good friends with.

Henrikson joined Mainz in the Summer, he’s not going anywhere.

Rydstrom now at Malmo is probably one to watch, career is on an upward curve, not sure what his style of play is.

On another thread you state we've gone backwards, now I don't remember us winning many games last season, so if you're referring to that season, it is weird
If you're looking at the first couple of games of this season, take a look where the goalscorers from those games are now, so yes weird.

He wasn’t on my radar for the job but has to be given a fair crack of the whip, which he hasn’t had yet.

End of the season at the earliest.

The only thing tedious is this thread. It's all that's so wrong in football, wanting a manager, who was dealt a shocking hand, gone after twelve games.

Our first two games told us what SP would be like as manager and then the rug was pulled from under him.
The Sunderland result looks a lot better given how well they are doing and the Heath Robinson team we put together for that game.

To answer the OP, I don’t want any of those managers. I am fully behind Parker.

I think he’s done great job and it’s time to focus on what he’s done well, specifically:

1. He appears to have galvanised us from what the players say, which is a tough ask given the summer turmoil;
2. We’re certainly working as hard off the ball (acid test for me) as well as I’ve ever seen us;
3. He’s re-balanced the squad as much as could be expected in one window;
4. We are mixing it up more than we did under Kompany. We are still possession-based but a bit more direct ‘in certain moments’ and also not playing such a high line;
5. We look incredibly hard to beat; and
6. We’re second, albeit a bit unconvincingly.

There is room for improvement and to be honest I just hope that he realises how important it is that he now tweaks his slightly too conservative style:

- Pires must start for me
- Every set piece direct
- Wingers taking on their men more, cutting in/back less
- Numbers in the box
- Less resetting/shifting and more emphasis on attacking at speed

If he can do that and keep solid at the back I think he could be a fantastic manager for us and we could have a brilliant season.

But he can’t underestimate how damaging losing the fans could be for his career here. I don’t think Pace will have too much patience this year, so we need to keep making very visible tweaks to keep the fans on side. We can’t keep serving up the same performances and expect this type of thread will go away. I have a feeling he has less ego than Kompany and will make the changes necessary.

I will judge Parker WHEN most of:

Beyer
Ekdal
Ramsey
Delcroix
Benson
Tresor
Redmond
Worrall

etc…

…have had an opportunity in the first team squad.

There’s no doubt he’s had horrific luck in terms of injuries.

I have to feel that of those, Tresor might not return and only Ramsey and Benson will significantly improve us. Maybe Redmond - I didn’t list him as at his age you don’t know how he’ll respond to a big injury.

I don’t see how any of the defenders will materially improve us. With CJ playing as well as he is you could argue none get in the team.

It’s the recent injuries like Flemming initially, Roberts pre international break, Foster and Sarmiento now that I feel have really hampered us.

Big January, I feel!

Redmond is only 30 years old. Every time I watched him play against us in the PL I always though that he played well and was a constant goal threat.

I felt that before his injury he was massively under used by Kompany in the PL before his injury and his experience could have been invaluable especially early in the season.

If fit I would play him in any of the 3 positions directly behind a central striker as I rate him that highly.

Biggest problem with the constant critics is their specific agendas, that they usually own up to by referencing their original comments on the managerial appointment.
They rarely credit the performance of our opponents and fail to acknowledge that our players often have an off day. If they do they just argue that player should never have started.
In this particular case they also choose to ignore the league table.
Yes, QPR weren't brilliant on the ball attacking wise, but defended like a Sean Dyche team.
It happens, it's football.

I know he’s only 30, just a question for me as to whether he can regain his previous form after a long period out injured and an even longer period since he played regular competitive football.

I hope he can, obviously.

That could be a very long time yet. If and when they return is probably going to be well into the season. Sounds as though you are not convinced yet despite our 'lofty' position in the table.

If Parker is managing to keep us in the top 2, then he ain't getting potted anytime soon because he's doing what's asked.

If we drop outside the top 6 and stay out then you'd have a point .

We are 2nd after our overhaul and with some big injuries, especially out wide and up front.

Teams see us as a big threat and many set up to try and stay in games / not concede.

It is very difficult to play exciting expansive football when teams just sit off you.

As things stand we'll likely lose very few games, and will grab a win in some dull games.

As we have already seen, when we get an early goal or teams come at us then we are capable of getting goals.

Personally I feel that some of the boredom is down to us being so used to winning at this level now that anything else feels like a defeat. I got very bored at times in the VK season and left many games seriously frustrated.

what now !

wow!! give the guy a chance, we are second in the league (if we finish there in May we go up) we had 10 players out injured on Saturday, some who would arguably be in the starting 11 or at worst on the bench. we had 22 shots , albeit only 4 on target, blocks don't get counted in the stats, and the opposition came for a draw from minute 1.

whilst i find it disappointing that we didn't win all clubs will have days like this where things don't go your way.
plus i don't think we have got out of second gear yet save for the Luton game and a spell at Sheff Weds , plenty more to come , you just need to keep the faith

I thought the schools were back in today or is it tomorrow. I’ve long thought we need a clear children section of the board. 2nd in the table, the football isn’t just how you like it and you want a new manager. Best sticking to computer games.

I never moaned about Kompany once, I believed in him as much as Pace, well maybe not THAT much.

But we know on here, you must not express opinions.
Given the state of performances last season you ******* should have moaned plenty. Football is about winning games, not some philosophical posturing about doing things the right way, and getting smashed every week.

I know, I know, you all hate me because I want the tedious one gone.

But bear with, bear with...

If I did get my wish and we got rid of the tedious one, who would you want to replace him?

Carlos Corberan?
Bo Henriksen?
Henrik Rydstrom?
Thierry Henry?
Frank Lampard?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?
Kasper Hjulmand?

Igor Tudor was my 1st choice last time, still available.
This guy has got to be banned.

A fair few wanted Corberan

WBA's last 5 results:

WBA 0-0 Cardiff
Rovers 0 - 0 WBA
Oxford 1-1 WBA
WBA 0 -0 Millwall
WBA 0 - 1 Boro

A grand total of 1 goal scored in 5 games

Out of interest.. why Igor Tudor? What attributes does he have that makes you sure he's the man for us? I remember him as a player, but didn't know much about his managerial experience. Had a look online and see he's managed in Croatia, Greece, Italy and France. So I'm just curious what you know about him that makes him your 1st choice.

I completely disagree with him but even if you don’t like his posts why for one minute should he be banned he hasn’t been abusive or offensive ,If we start banning people who we don’t agree with we might as well be in Russia.

I can’t imaging Scott Parker will be hanging on his every word ,block him it annoys but don’t ask that he should be banned.

We are 10/11 games into season. 2 nd in table. Best defence in league.
After the Kompany **** show he has come in and done a fantastic job of stabilising the team … yes we are short of a few players. But give the guy a break the last thing we need is this guy coming on asking who will replace him.

There's no vacancy and won't be for some considerable time.

“Bear with, bear with”? Wtf does that mean? If you mean “bear with me”, then write that, it uses less letters and is easier to understand than the rest of the post.

And whilst I’m ‘on one’, what’s the relevance of “hey ho”?

And that’s BEFORE I get into the subject matter of the thread… actually, I won’t bother - seems plenty before me have treated it with the respect it rightly deserves.

I believe there are only 6 posters on this board me , bobinho, newcastle, RV, pushpin and Chester P. Everyone else is just an alias of the sad six.
