Re: The club badge
But so is anything else that's changed.
Previous owners must have changed things, including badges, names of trainging grounds and other things, it just seems far more amplified when it's been done in recent times.
Hopefully at some point the badge will return to something more universally accepted

Re: The club badge
Yeah, same. Everyone will have different views on what makes the club what it is, but for me the 'lines in the sand' are playing in Burnley, at the Turf, in Claret and Blue. I've not really had an attachment to any of our badges but I'm not much of a club historian to be fair.

Re: The club badge
Did people get upset about the change in 2010?

Re: The club badge
That's another one, for no obvious reason they have removed the name Gawthorpe from the training ground. Whatever anyone might think, these things are part of our history.Row x wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 8:46 amBut so is anything else that's changed.

Re: The club badge
For no obvious reason ?????? The reason It got changed was we got the new training ground rebuild by Barnfield 5m cheaper because we agreed to call it Barnfield instead of Gawthorpe it's a sponser type deal, Did people cry when the cricket field stand changed its name to the David Fishwick stand after he paid for the privilegeClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 10:14 amThat's another one, for no obvious reason they have removed the name Gawthorpe from the training ground. Re: The club badge
It is no longer sponsored by Barnfield. I'm referring to the time since then.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 11:28 amFor no obvious reason ?????? Re: The club badge
But it was still part of our history, but it seems that was okClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 11:26 amBarnfield sponsored it so rightly had their name on but they ended that sponsorship when they changed to sponsoring the stand.
Re: The club badge
Just to check my understanding - it lost the name "Gawthorpe" under the previous ownership but that was OK because despite being "part of our history" Barnfield paid for the sponsorship and we were all OK with that. But now the Barnfield sponsorship has ended, the name that was in place under the previous ownership hasn't been fully restored under the new ownership and this amplifies the fact that "it's part of our history" and we are all terribly upset?

Re: The club badge
We didn't play in Claret and blue for the first 28 year's of becoming a club, we were originally called Burnley Rovers, history is in the past, things change and thank god we dropped the name Rovers and our first strip that was Blue and white.

If its in the past then it's historyClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 11:42 amIf you think a company sponsoring for a couple of years is part of our history then so be it.
Re: The club badge
I think everything that happens is part of our history, a season, a game even a certain goal have all formed part of our history, as have changes in badges, shirts, ownership of the ground etc etc.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 11:42 amIf you think a company sponsoring for a couple of years is part of our history then so be it.
