Rain

Post by Cirrus_Minor » Thu Oct 31, 2024 1:52 pm

According to BBC weather presenters, national and local, we are having fine but foggy weather. But it's rained non stop all day and most of yesterday. Maybe we have our own snall permanent cloud over this part of east lancashire.

I did see some planes flying over East Lancashire yesterday actually.

Really makes you think.

Was just commenting on this to someone. '0% chance of rain' on the BBC equates to incessant drizzle all day

“There’s a chance of some isolated showers which may merge to give some longer spells of rain”

BBC Weather presenters normally cover all the bases

What also p iss es me off is the numerous weather presenters that for example Look North West have to give us the incorrect forecast, there appears to be a different one for every bulletin and they're all shite.

They’re having the same conversations in Valencia right now.
Except, of course, in Spanish. :|

Annoying. My weather App was also just predicting low cloud and mist all day. I suppose cloud is rain droplets though, so they've got to land somewhere :D

It hasn't rained all day in this part of East Lancashire. It's grey and miserable but for once I've been out with the dog and not come back p*ss wet through.

The same as yesterday - drizzly all day, yet the forecasters gave it 10% chance of rain.

The BBC weather forecast is like everything the BBC does its poor..They couldn't forecast what day it is tomorrow.

You should have been down here on the Costa del Sol for the last few days.....obviously not as bad as the poor residents of the Valencia region, which is awful, but we have had torrential, electrical storms which a have caused flooding and quite a bit of damage.

I'll think you will find that that is one part of the weather forecast they usually get right.

In weather forecast terms, 10% chance of rain doesn't mean that there is a 10% chance it will rain, it means, it WILL rain, and the coverage will be 10% of a particular area.

I was in Benidorm last week, so not too far from Valencia and I have never seen rain the like of what came down on Friday night. Thankfully it was dry inside the bar :)

We always look on the Met office weather where you can see that even if it says rain all day you can track the showers to see how heavy they are .

Even if there’s only an odd shower the Beeb nearly always shows it raining all day.
