Today's Football
Re: Today's Football
Just tuned to Sky for the results.
Woman reading them out is the worst ever!
Wrong intonation and stuttering over them. Also very slooowww.

It's been very sad, bleak and depressing in the streets of Stranraer this afternoon, but then again, that's got bugger all to do with the footy!!

Can't believe Sunderland couldn't manage a single goal at QPR. Time to sack their manager?CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 5:00 pmWould take those results. Dropped points for Sunderland and Boro whilst Rovers continue imploding. Happy days.

Re: Today's Football
Todays football could have gone worse for us, but still it wasn't greatly helpful and I feel the pressure is on to keep pace, especially with another tough away game in a few days. It makes tomorrow very hard.
As many have said from the start, Sheff U will be the ones to watch possibly more than any other.

Looking at the match stats, QPR fairly battered the Mackems, more attacks, more shots on, and off, target, more possession and a higher xG.Hbclaret007 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 5:38 pmCan't believe Sunderland couldn't manage a single goal at QPR. Time to sack their manager?

Re: Today's Football
Stats can be very misleading when over half an hour sees the home side with a man advantage.
BBC report states “The game turned following Bellingham’s poor challenge “ but it does seem QPR are putting in some improved performances.

Re: Today's Football
I checked the QPR stats after around 15 minutes into the game and QPR did have around that 60% mark, which was surprising. With more shots/chances. That's not to say they were all over Sunderland but stats-wise they appeared to be having a good go.

Re: Today's Football
My local side Harborough FC progress to 2nd round of FA Cup with 4-1 away win, after knocking Bury out of cup last round. Not bad for a side with typical gates of 300-ish. Hope they get one of the league sides next. Its really putting our town on the map

Just how boring are a lot of " to the formula" Premier league games ?

Solid in defence and a much better game plan than Tonbridge.
Tonbridge “fans” singing “this is embarrassing” when it got to 0-3. Just what your team needs!

Opted for the Northampton - Kettering game. Kettering levelled not so long ago now 1-1.

Been a decent game this, generally find Prem games pretty dull these days.

Equality should be just that. If you are the best at whatever, you get the job.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 7:50 pmIt's the world today, boys. get used to it because it's not going away.![]()
TV is littered with so many minorities who appear to get the job because they tick a needed box. If they were just great at what they do then fine otherwise - don't lessen the quality.

i recall a time when (almost) everyone interested in football turned on the radio for the Saturday footy results. Things have changed so much now that I doubt the reading of the results has the same level of importance. The BBC voice is a thing of the past.IanMcL wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 7:55 pmEquality should be just that. If you are the best at whatever, you get the job.

Just fancied a day out at the footy and the pin landed in Tonbridge. I can thoroughly recommend the Nelson Arms.
Will be back home in Macclesfield in time for the highlights.
Re: Today's Football
Maybe but you would expect a voice delivering results would get the speed, detail and highs and lows right, when they read them out.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 8:19 pmi recall a time when (almost) everyone interested in football turned on the radio for the Saturday footy results. Re: Today's Football
I rarely listen to football, really. But I love test match special. The BBC is the only place to listen to cricket if that's your thing. Listened to the rugby yesterday.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 8:19 pmi recall a time when (almost) everyone interested in football turned on the radio for the Saturday footy results. Football is so global, all the goals are on your phone 5 mins after they're scored. There's streams for most games, theres youtube fan channels all over the place. Only time I ever listen to 5 live for football is if I'm cooking a big dinner that'll take a few hours!
