I thought it was a much improved performance. Cenre halves are solid. Props to Egan-Riley who I didn’t think would be big enough or strong enough to play that position in this league, but he’s looking terrific.

Anthony looked good on the right in the second half. Cullen much better tonight. Some good and some not so good from Koleosho, but that’s young wingers for you.

We need to see more from our captain - he’s like a passenger at the minute - and Flemming. Although I appreciate Flemming is playing out of position, I don’t think he’s as good as Foster in that role.

Trafford 6 - steady away
Roberts 7 - alright but couple of dodgy moments
CJ - 9 solid performance
Esteve 7 - decent enough
Pires 7 - decent shift
Cullen 7 - good but silly booking
Beownhill 7 - busy
Anthony 8 - looked to get involved linked well with
Sarmiento 8 - some great tou Jessie but should have scored
Koleosho 4 - worse on the left than he was on the right , failed to give any decent options
Flemming 5 - looks lost on his own

Ref 3 - he was utter utter shite. Free kick when a baggie drops - anything when a claret shirt drops its nothing. Disallowed a perfectly fine goal. Dogger

Much more coherent performance and unfortunate not to win, although we're still a bit short of punch.

Trafford - 6 - very little to do.

Roberts - 7 - steady enough night's work and good to see him offering width on occasions depending the right.

Pires - 7 - apart from a short period in the first half when Fellows threatened to dominate him, steady defensively and he added plenty of composure and quality to our possession play.

Egan Riley - 9 - an outstanding night's work. Distributed like a centre half brought under Pep and defended like one schooled under Dyche.

Esteve - 8 - barely tested in truth.

Cullen - 7 - much happier in a set up offering him forward options.

Brownhill - 6 - a bit off his game at the moment but stuck at it.

Sarmiento- 7 - looks like when he's fully fit he'll add a nice lively creative presence. Faded a bit in the second half but that's to be expected.

Anthony - 6 - very unlucky to have his goal disallowed. Generally worked hard and produced a couple of decent crosses but looked to br trying a bit hard at times.

Koleosho- 6 - looked happier on the left but his end product was hit and miss.

Flemming- 6 - some neat touches to link the play but not a consistent goal scoring threat.

Laurent - 6 - didn't really add much and I'd have liked to see a striker on and Flemming drop back.

Not much wrong with that. A vast improvement on Millwall, and a much more coherent shape and structure that promised goals even if they didn't come. A bit more composure around the box, and a bit more willingness to gamble in the box, and we'll be OK playing like that. The disallowed goal is a mystery, we hit the post and forced two or three big saves from the keeper. Now to back it up against Swansea.

Trafford - 6 - nothing to do

Roberts - 7 - good game
Egan-Riley - 8 - very good game
Esteve - 7 - strolled through another game
Pires - 6 - decent enough - unlucky not to score

Cullen - 7 - good game
Brownhill- 6 - steady
Sarmiento - 8* - looked the most likely

Anthony - 5 - never looks like he will beat a man. Never a foul though - robbed of a goal
Flemming - 3 - completely lost
Koleosho - 3 - another shocker of a performance

Trafford 6 - easy night for him

Roberts 6 - doesn’t bring much to the party for
me

Egan-Riley 8 - looks more composed every game

Esteve 7 - easy night

Pires 7 - got forward well, couple of good recovery runs back, very unlucky not to open his
account

Cullen 7 - a bit more like himself tonight but would love it if he passed forward sometimes

Brownhill 6 - ran around

Anthony 6 - one or two decent deliveries, ridiculous disallowed goal

Koleosho 5 - he gets so much ball and wastes it on most occasions

Sarmiento 7 - I like him. Tough little player and gives us some creativity - should have scored

Flemming 4 - not sure what we have signed here

Trafford - 6 little to do

Roberts - 6
CJER - 8
Esteve - 7
Pires - 7 - unlucky not to score

Cullen - 6 - unlucky not to score
Brownhill - 5

Anthony - 7 - much better. Very very unlucky to have a perfectly good goal ruled out
Sarmiento - 7 - did well. Has to score the 1v1.
Koleosho - 5 - started off well but his decision-making is really poor too many times.

Flemming - 6 - also unlucky not to score. Needed some help

Robbed by a refereeing decision I'm afraid. Had we won 1-0 or 2-0 it would have been deserved and we'd have been talking about an excellent away performance.
I wanted to see a reaction to Millwall and we got one. Work to do - but that was much better.

Trafford 6 - Little to do tbf, kicking was far better.
Roberts 7 - Steady away, thought he got a sly elbow from Maja
Egan Riley 8** - Becoming our best player, comfortable and has vision.
Esteve 7 - Normal steady game
Pires 7 - Better going forward than backwards!
Brownhill 7 - Tried to link play and get forward
Cullen 7 - Normal game
Sarmiento 8 - Looked comfortable especially when tightly marked
Anthony 7 - Robbed of a goal, needs to cross more.
Koleosho 6 - Better on the left but had little ball
Flemming 6 - One effort and generally absent, not his game as a lone striker.

Trafford 6
I don't think he had a save to make.

Pires 6
Had a lot of problems early on but grew into the game. Offensively miles better than Bashir.

Esteve 6
Steady.

Egan Riley 7 MOTM
Another brilliant performance. His passing was great, he won almost every duel and made some important blocks.

Roberts 5
Passing all over the place, crossing very poor. Also struggled a bit in the first half.

Brownhill 6
Did a lot of work off the ball.

Cullen 6
Better than Sunday.

Sarmiento 7
Lively and energetic. Has to score, though.

Koleosho 4
The worst performance of the season in his "preferred position". Should be nowhere near our starting lineup.

Anthony 5
His goal should have stood but he was very poor before and after that. Looks like he's "teacher's pet" who'll play no matter what.

Flemming 5
Very poor. I have no idea why he kept fouling their player.

Trafford 6 another easy night
Roberts 6 better than Sunday.
Pires 5 ok going forward looks suspect defensively.
Egan -Reilly 8 getting better.
Estève - 7 solid as always.
Cullen 6 better than Sunday.
Brownhill 4 poor again
Sarmiento 6 at least some spark attacking wise.
Fleming 3 woeful
Kolesho 3 as above.
Anthony 5 should have had a goal but average again.

We have the look of what we are a squad of very average players after the squads we have been spoilt with in recent times.

Esteve 7

Cullen 8
Brownhill 6 lacked a bit of composure
Sarmiento 7 good player
Antony 6 lacking a bit of confidence
Koleosho 7 needs to play left & get to the bye line.
Fleming 7 tried to hard

Much, much better. Should have come away with 3 points and everyone would have been happy.

I'm amazed anyone rated Luca above 5 - he created pretty much nothing tonight. I think he a tially attack ked the flank once despite getting a lot of space 2nd half.

Trafford - 7 Could have had a deck chair
Roberts - 7 Much better than against Millwall
Egan-Riley - 8 Turning out to be a real find
Estève - 7 Outshone by his partner tonight. Steady game again
Pires - 7 Much more threat from the full back position
Anthony - 6 Nothing special but had a legitimate goal ruled out
Cullen - 3 Vice Captain Slow again. Brings nothing to the team
Brownhill - Captain Invisible. I have no idea how he got more than 60 minutes never mind the full game. Absolutely useless
Koleosho - 3 Got his favourite side and guess what…still bloody rubbish
Sarmiento - 7 Really liked him in the roaming role tonight. Brought energy and was our brightest forward by a country mile
Flemming - 3 HE’S NOT A NUMBER 9! Harsh mark but the only thing he does in that position is make a foul

Better performance but still not good enough in the final third. We desperately need some attacking players back from injury

Not seeing this koleosho better on left business. Doesn't matter which side he's on when he struggles to make a 3 yard pass. Anthony doesn't always produce end product but it's a much higher percentage and he gives the ball away far less.

Trafford 7 - good distribution, had little else to do
Roberts 7 - got forward a little more
Egan Riley 8 - very good, snuffed them out, good passing, calm. Has got a chance out of the blue and has seized it.
Esteve 7 - solid and classy
Pires 7 - exceptional attacking but caught a few times at the back, unlucky not to score with his wrong foot
Brownhill 6 - holding more tonight but allowed us to be dominant
Cullen 7 - like Brownhill but had a few moments of high quality too
Sarmiento 8 - really good tricky feet and unlucky not to score, wasn’t a bad effort. Adds a lot. Has to start.
Anthony 7 - did OK on the right, scored a good goal, had another good chance blocked
Koleosho 5 - struggled again but on the correct side and a kid needs time to bed in to a position, and 3 90 mins a week is tough on a kid
Flemming 6 - battled well, got conned with a few fouls, could have, maybe should have scored with a header.

Really that was the consummate away 1-0 win at a promotion rival, we did all that, limiting them to sniffs, no save for our keeper to make, we have several big chances, then we score a great header and win the game, seeing it out comfortably.

That was the game in terms of how we should rate it. Parker did the right things, subs were debatable, but the initial plan was right and I hope he sticks with it. They aren’t fit to lace our boots. We are guaranteed top four, it is all about which of those top 4 get a run of wons together often.

The man in black stole the game from us with a mystery decision of the type that proves totally he should be sacked at this level. Not even close to being good enough. Was conned all game but the goal was not that, no WBA player appealed. He stayed on his feet, he looked dejected. No excuses whatsoever. There was no foul, just a hand on the back which we see for every cross ever hit. Tom Nield is not fit to referee at this level and needs kicking out of the league.

I’m a fan of Koleosho but I’m sorry if we are being honest he was abysmal tonight.

Totally ineffective and consistently gave the ball away. I’m honestly not sure where he goes from here because this is coming up 7-8 games in a row where he’s just offered nothing.

I kept a very close eye on him all game tonight, as people have said similar to me after recent performances. I would recommend re watching and keeping an eye on him to see how many mistakes he’s making.

I would like to highlight as well that he only touched the ball 31 times in 89 mins. For comparison Anthony touched the ball 48 times, Sarmiento 43 (in 75 mins). He’s not only ineffective on the ball but he’s not even getting on the ball as much as his counter parts. I know this sounds like a random stat but Koleosho was consistently getting on the ball more than this when in the prem against considerably better opposition.

Trafford 6-very little to do
Roberts 7-got more involved tonight going forwards, and some good distribution
Egan Riley 8-our find of the season who will get better and better. I would make him captain
Esteve 7 solid and composed
Pires 7 thought he was very good tonight and deserved a goal, plus great cross for Flemming
Koleosho 6-poor and constantly came inside. When he did go on the outside he produced a great cross
Cullen 7-impressed with his passing tonight
Brownhill 6-he has really gone off the pace. Would consider resting him after 3 poor games in a row
Sarmiento 7-a lively performance, but missed a sitter
Anthony did a lot of fefensive work and one of his livelier games. His goal should have stood
Fleming 5-very poor tonight. Seemed to have the wrong studs on as he was slipping all over. Should have done better from a great Pires cross

Laurent 7-got forward well in his short role. I think he deserves to start with Brownhill resting

We need to be realistic-this was an improvement and with better performances from several and more luck we would have come away with 3 points against a side that even the bottom 3 would struggle to score against. Defence were outstanding

Trafford 6 - nothing to do really but still feel like he’s too ponderous on the ball
Roberts 6 - couple of dodgy moments
Egan-Riley 8 - don’t know how Ekdal, Beyer or Worrall get in when he keeps playing like this. Enjoyed his post match presser too. Future captain material?
Estéve 7 - solid
Pires 7 - has to start for me now. Offers so much going forwards and from set plays
Brownhill 7 - typical Josh performance. When Laurent came on though I wish he was pushed forward instead
Cullen 7 - steady as ever and a few crucial tackles
Sarmiento 7 - the flair player we need. When we’ve got more back I’d like to see him rotating around CAM and both wings
Anthony 6 - thought he looked off it again first 20 but grew into the game
Koleosho 6 - trying too hard now it feels
Flemming 5 - not his fault he’s playing out of position but all of his good work was outside the 18 yard box.

4s and 5s for Anthony is just ridiculous.
Got through a lot of work defensively, retained posession pretty well. Seem to remember him being part of a few promising attacks early on and remember at least one very good cross. And he scored a perfectly good goal with a good header.

I'm not claiming he was brilliant, but one mark above the minimum is just daft. 5 less so obviously naturally, but still extremely harsh imo.

Edit: that was supposed to be a reply to someone else who asked why. Not myself. Whoops

From tv
Trafford 6 nothing to do
Roberts 6 ok
ER 8 mom, some great tackles and blocks, plus his forward passing was good
Esteve 7 had their forwards under full control
Pires 6 better going forward than Humphrey’s but some of his first half tackling was amateur
Anthony 6 unlucky with his goal, but needs to get into the game more
Cullen 7 steady away
Brownhill 6 seems to be losing his way
Koleosho 5 when will he learn the basics of football?
Sarmiento 7 should have scores but gave us pace and movement
Flemming 6 I’ve said it from his first appearance he is not a number nine, though he has got the skill set to play along side a good centre forward

Much better performance, more movement off the ball, more pace going forward: we could have won that 3-0 but we didn’t.
I can’t describe my feelings about that refereeing display, I found it hard to believe what I was watching.

A much improved all round performance than Sunday. Plenty of effort and intent, but still the same problems in the final third. This team just doesn't have many goals in it.

Agree with everything you've said, BurnleyFC.
