The type of ref every fan knows should be nowhere near football.
He’ll have a good career in it.

Hilariously sh1te and shouldn’t have been at Championship level this week after missing a blatant handball goal at the weekend against Preston.

Sweet Jesus.
Can’t rate on the TV but there was one recently where I rated 3s. This guy would have been similar at best.

A dogsh!t decision cost us but not only that there was numerous other light taps that went against us. For that he should be marked in single figures on all fronts

What a clueless performance. How he got another championship game straight after the massive error in his previous game is staggering. Should be stepped down and forced to contemplate his position

I can't rate as watched on TV but that was simply dreadful.
I can always understand a ref missing something that has happened due to positioning, players blocking the view etc but to give something which he has made up/guessed at is unforgivable. I'm not sure how Parker kept so cool in his interview tbh. When you are desperate for any slice of luck and you get done by an official, it really is utterly frustrating.

Im not allowed to give him any marks because I wasn't at the game. But if I had been at the game, I still wouldn't have given him any. He was terrible even before the disallowed goal.
The PGMOL has a lot to answer for but they are answerable to no-one. Referees as a whole act as though they believe that every single player is as honest as the day is long, and every time a player goes over screaming in agony it is because he has been fouled. They can't all be half-wits naturally; their half-witted behaviour is how they are being taught. Even the PGMOL wouldn't justify the disallowed goal, but the ref was doing (to a ridiculous degree) what he has been taught to do - if you see a man fall over, give a free kick unless you are certain it wasn't a foul.
What would be interesting to know would be when (or if) he watches the game back, does he still think it was a foul, or does he accept he messed up?

they have a very tough job, it can be difficult at times, but that was atrocious.
when you witness games on a weekly basis and see what amounts to wrestling matches in and around the area go unpunished even with VAR, to disallow that tonight was criminal. No excuses. Genuinely appalling decision. not to mention potentially costly.

An interesting question would be if Styles had touched Anthony like that, would the ref have given a penalty. I think we know the answer. Got to also question one team making 20 fouls and the home team making 6.
Extremely poor ref, clueless in a number of situations.

It wasn't a tough job today. It could hardly have been an easier match to referee.

I was getting more and more concerned with his performance in the first half when he appeared to be very generous in their favour. The foul count by the end is just downright ridiculous.
He’s alongside Webb & Ward with shocking performances this season. But this was worse because he seemed to me to be favouring one team.

I hope Parker really lets it be known in his report that the standard of this particular referee is just not acceptable. It really was all about him tonight. I really don’t know if it was his ego that took over, he obviously doesn’t understand that you can tackle and touch an opponent. Thinking about the disallowed goal, why then didn't he blow for every cross that came in from a corner. He really has a lot to learn.

I'm struggling to think of a worse performance. Even without any understanding of natural contact in football, a top referee looks to his linesman and the reaction of the opposition. Everything pointed to goal.
Some of the bookings, particularly Roberts', was laughable. And just generally, anytime we got anywhere near one of their players he'd blow the whistle. I'd guess there were about 10+ fouls given against us that were incorrect tonight.
He shouldn't be anywhere near Championship level football. Or league One, probably.

Isn’t that the problem with the quality of referees at this level.
Seems to me that referees become referees because they are useless at playing football and this is their way of being important in the game.
Sadly that’s the point. They are important butbecause they are useless players they don’t understand the game

From TV, it was blatantly obvious from the start that Burnley would get absolutely nothing from this game (except a point). There was no way the referee would have allowed Burnley to win the game. He was absolutely appalling, probably the worst referee I have seen since starting to watch Burnley in 1957. A totally incompetent referee. 20 fouls against Burnley, 6 against WBA

I note that Nield has never issued a red card in his entire league career and his yellow count is much lower than many. Not sure what that says about him but his ability to spot a foul from nothing is clearly obvious.

I would hope we get a letter of apology from the boss of refs in our league admitting it was a ************************ and should have stood as a goal.
Then I will once again be happy with the world and peace will be restored and I will no longer be on beta blockers!

This was that very same referee, who just a few days ago, allowed a hugely deliberate handball to occur, enabling a Bristol City player to knock a bouncing ball beyond the oncoming goalkeeper and PNE defender and giving himself an open goal to walk the ball into!!!
