Look, if I could have my say on how stadium announcements are made, then I’d go a very different way. That said, it has been pointed out that Mr. Walker is very much sticking to a script which he has been asked to follow!

In this thread alone, he has been called:

Helmet
Moron
Cretin
Idiot
Embarrassing
Knob jockey

This guy might read the messageboard (he might not) and I think that people should try and show a bit more class than this. There’s just no need.

I’ve notice at quite a few games there has been a minute’s applause instead of silence which I find really odd. But I wonder if that was the intention.
Fortunately the fans knew there is no applause at a solemn Remembrance event!

Perfect silence.

I thought I heard him say that but wasn’t sure
I’m pretty sure he referred to a minute’s silence initially, then changed it to applause at the end. I seem to recall last year it was all a confusing farce because he got it wrong then as well in terms of when the silence was (before or after the last post).

I’m not going to resort to name calling, but he had no reason to bellow as the veterans walked off, he’s on autopilot. His ‘in-depth’ 3 question interview of Ross Wallace was sensational too. I feel I know so much more about him now.

Funny how no one is pointing out the couple of bum notes during The Last Post.

It’s also funny how many people choose to believe this guy is just deciding what to yell into an open microphone whenever he feels the need.

If I was being uncharitable, I’d say people are looking for an excuse to take a shot at whoever it is behind the mic.

And no, I am not being precious, a stupid comment to make.
You definitely are, as are one or two others.

He's an MC, employed by the club to let people know what's going on.

Instead of MAKING AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT with the intention of getting him SACKED IMMEDIATELY leaving him in a position unable to SUPPORT HIS FAMILY have you and the others BAYING FOR HIS CRETINOUS, MISERABLE, AMOEBA, PLANKTON LIKE BLOOD considered simply offering CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK to the club or simply GETTING ON WITH IT safe in the knowledge that you are in a TEENY TINY MINORITY of people that are ARSED.

Normally I ignore him, and it doesn't bother me one jot

However, there are certain events that need a bit more care and thought put into them, and yesterday was one such event.

I think he just made a huge mistake here. What was he thinking about. I think he should reflect and apologise.

This

Other clubs treat their half time guests as club treasure and ask them questions which draw out good stories/information. The sound system is also decent and their answers clear. We have trite questions and answers lost in the sound system as the mic is waved at a moving guest.

The exception was Clarke Carlisle who took charge of the exercise and was clear and interesting and not dependent on the questioner. Clarke had obviously seen what happens to every other guest.

These things can be corrected.

Glad you took that away from what’s been written, just ignore all the other stuff about him being bobbins.

Not sure why he reads the team out half an hour before the game to the 20 people inside.

“Welcome to back Turf Moor” superfluous

Read both teams out in a respectful manner, the away team is rushed and feels like he wants it out of the way.

Fine with more emphasis on the home team.

Let’s hear it for Burnley before the game starts is pointless.
Let’s hear for it Burnley when we start the second half there is no need.

Learn to pronounce those difficult names properly, it’s not hard (especially if it’s your job)

Read stuff out, no need to shout, that’s what microphones are for.

As mentioned above his half time interviews are poor and mundane.

The reality is most of what he does is superfluous, the rest is average at best. Could easily be replaced by Siri or Alexa.

Hope that helps for those who want constructive criticism.

Few things.

1. I agree with JDRobbo about the name calling, absolutely no need.
2. The half time interviews are as bad as the interviews on clarets player, banal questions with no real thought behind them whatsoever.
3. Thought the ref did well to delay the game until all the veterans were off the pitch.

We have different opinions but I'll stick to mine if it's okay.
And with all the 'shouting' you've done above, maybe you could be a stadium announcer and be just as rude as him.

I believe our guy played it on a bugle- which is how it should be played, but the most difficult instrument to play it on.

On almost every other occasion I saw this year the soloist used a cornet or a trumpet- it's much easier to play using a valved instrument.

He also called it the last oath, instead of the last post.

Announcing a minutes applause, caused confusion and a few did start clapping. When has there ever been a minutes applause for Remembrance Sunday?

I don’t like getting at one person, but he ain’t great. What he brings might be good for rugby etc. but it’s all too tinpot for my liking.
Tbf to him, I didn’t hear him say applause but did hear him say a “moment of reflection”

Calling him a helmet like some have is unnecessary. He’s a really nice guy, just has a very irritating style of announcing that I’d love to see the back of.

I mean in a thread where we've got homophobic, ableist nonsense directed at a man for *checks notes* Not announcing stuff In the way that suits their stuffy preferences I will take being called rude as a badge of honour.

I'm not concerned with other comments on here, my problem was with him being unable to wait maybe just one solitary minute to allow the veterans to leave before bellowing out his unnecessary "Make some noise' or whatever.
For me that was downright rude, cretinous behaviour.
Even the referee had the good manners to delay kick off.

As a veteran, this thread is absolutely rancid.

Virtue signalling at its finest, all to have a pop at a bloke doing his job.

I can only echo Leon_C’s sentiments above.

Well, they should have learned to play it properly. Total disrespect. Needs sacking.

For the lacking a sense of humour around here, that is a joke, by the way.

If he’s relying on this job to support his family , you really have to question how much he is being paid , I know the Americans are clueless at running a football club but surely he can’t be receiving enough to support his family.
