He’s wired to the moon. Massively stitched up by a so called
‘friend’.

Can’t expect someone to constantly take personal abuse from people and then not have a strong opinion on those people, and he’s not wrong about Klopp is he let’s face it.

i dont think anyone honestly thinks that refs and players dont have opinions, where he's messed up is allowing it to be recorded and shared.

every single ref will have teams, players and coaches they dont like. its human nature

Spot on.

I don't doubt for a minute that he did his best to be impartial no matter his actual personal opinions as well. But by publicly saying stuff (and I count allowing himself to be videoed saying it as public because in due course it amounts to the same thing once your so-called mate leaks it) he's now got his reputation and impartiality in ruins.

He was a crap ref anyway, so no great loss if he never referees another game.

Allegedly snorting cocaine at last summers' euro finals.

Apparently filmed it himself too!

Feel a bit for him.

Hes made some silly mistakes and now he’s being publicly humiliated. In the grand scheme of things he’s a minor football personality.

There’s plenty of folk who have held far greater positions of responsibility in this country and behaved worse who won’t have had a fraction of the treatment he’s had this week.

Gotta say I’d never heard of him , but what an absolute be11end , slagging off Klopp/Liverpool ( of all the professional victims in football ) and letting his mates record it . While ultimately that’s just “ a bit stupid “ ,getting filmed snorting coke is idiocy . As for “ organising drugs parties “ ( as per the Sun allegation) while on the touchike ! Maybe he ordered a few brasses up as well ?

This coke addled clown deserves all gets . As nothing he’s allegedly done is actually illegal he can only be banned from reffing . Wonder if he’ll accept the “ my coke hell “ offer the Sun will offer ?for “ my own story “ or just let them print it all .

It’s dealing and possession etc which you’d be charged with . While it’s technically illegal to take certain drugs I’m not sure they ever actually prosecute people for the actual “ act” ?

IMO the only thing he’s done wrong is get caught on camera!

The actual content will probably be backed by just about every other fan who doesn’t support Liverpool! Hell, I’ve even had a few Liverpool mates laugh at what he said as they are almost proud that they are so ‘Orrible!! 😂 They basically don’t care as long as refereeing decision's can be affected in their favour!

Next time you’re in a pub talking footy with a mate, I suspect they will back up my above comments!

Joking aside, Coote has properly screwed himself in a world that simply won’t care that he will lose his career and reputation. Personally, I would like to think he could be given a chance to atone for his error in judgement but sadly the ‘cancel culture’ we seem to adore will prevail. I even heard some muppet on the radio this week use words like ‘crime’ to describe the story as though the Police should actually get involved!? 🤣🤦‍♂️

So, he’ll lose his job and then Footy can go back to openly slagging off officials on and off the pitch, which by the way is why you still see U9’s parents doing the exact same thing or worse every Saturday/Sunday morning! I really wish the FA would grow some balls and properly solve this problem!!

Up the Clarets!

He's absolutely spot on with his comments. Klopp is a very nasty, cowardly piece of work.

Ban him for a week or two and then move on. The punishment should be much the same as for a player or manager found to be using foul and abusive language towards officials.

Yeah right. And I'm sure you would say the same if he had been talking about a Burnley manager of course.

When you listen to the foul obscenities shouted at the ref in the BL stand for not giving Burnley a throw in, and yet some of you muppets seriously think this case is no big deal because you have some illogical dislike of Liverpool!
How would you have reacted if Coote had called Sean Dyche out in the same way. You lot are so blinkered it’s untrue. His career is rightly over because he cannot ever ref a game involving Liverpool or any of their rivals again or any team that Klopp decides to manage in the future for that matter.

Dyche is as much a bellend to officials as the 'big' managers are, but he matters less.

If you replace the face of Klopp with the face of Dyche in these images, how much support from Burnley fans do you think Dyche would have received?
This messageboard would have been 90/10 or 80/20 against because we aren't and never been bullies.
This is in a game Klopp won.

Did Dyche do that to officials though whilst at Burnley?

I can’t remember him getting particularly involved with officials whilst he was at Burnley. At Everton he seems to have a little more.

I agree, it is a big deal for football as a whole, because for far too long officials are treated like pantomime villains but instead with genuine hatred and vitriol spouted in their direction! On that basis alone, Coote is bang on with his viewpoint and I have no doubt that ALL refs have similar views of other clubs, including Liverpool, and other managers based on the s**t they have to put up with every week! The obvious clichéd question being, ‘who would be a referee?’

The problem with Coote is only partly that he has spoken of his prejudice against Liverpool. It's also that he has appalling judgement in allowing his views and his drug taking to be filmed; he has a drug problem in that he is unable to go through a tournament without taking drugs; and he appears to be coked to the eyeballs very much more often than a referee ought to be.

Besides which, as his activities are surely going to bring in enforced drug tests for referees and linesmen, I doubt he will be terribly popular with his professional colleagues who he has let down so badly.

As someone has said above, this fella is being absolutely torn apart now and whilst I have heard whispers of other as yet unsubstantiated (and despicable) activities, being filmed ranting about a man who has treated him appallingly in his line of work, as well as being filmed taking a recreational drug that many people see being used in football grounds, pubs, bars etc. probably doesn't merit the media lust for blood that we have seen over the last 7 days or so.

I don't condone his actions, but I do hope that there is somewhere with an arm round him as well and helping him through this, if indeed he welcomes and wants that. As for drugs tests now being implemented for referees and linesmen, if they aren't a 'thing' already I will be absolutely gobsmacked, albeit it does bring into question how Mr Coote avoided detection.

In summary, again as someone said above, people in far more influential, important and responsible positions have done far worse and managed to 'get away with it'. He's an easy target though, so let's rip him apart and move on to our next prey.

I’d love to know why Coote was suspended and close to the sack back in 2017 and then allowed to return.

But if there is an ounce of truth in what came out last night he should be receiving a life ban from any involvement in football.

He must have been shagging his mates wife to get **** on like this. Someone really has it in for him.
I'm not saying he hasn't screwed up, but how much hate can a man take.
Despite the latest development, the Leeds booking was a booking whoever was refereeing, if it had been soft they might have something to work on.

This one for me is the crux of the matter. Has Coote been shopped because he's had involvement with betting a few times before and refused to do another so they've basically finished him. Not only that how many more refs are involved because they'll now all do as they are told after Coote being made an example of

PGMOL needs disbanding imo

I don’t think we will be seeing him again regardless Tony to be honest, bloke is finished now for me. What was the 2017 suspension for do we know or is it all hush hush?
The press announced that two referees had been sacked just a couple of days before the first weekend, one was Darren Deadman (mercifully) and the other was Coote although Coote it was claimed in the report was officially injured and he returned, after a suspension, at the end of September. No reason was ever given for either but Deadman had refereed two games a few years earlier that the FA had investigated due to betting concerns, one of them was at Accrington.

From PGMOL:

“Following the conclusion of a thorough investigation into David Coote’s conduct, his employment with PGMOL has been terminated today with immediate effect. David Coote’s actions were found to be in serious breach of the provisions of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenable.

“Supporting David Coote continues to be important to us and we remain committed to his welfare. David Coote has a right to appeal the decision to terminate his employment.”
