Blackburn allocation.

Post by TopCat » Mon Nov 18, 2024 10:13 am

With us now having details for away game towards the end of December do we know when we are likely to be advised of our allocation?
Leeds getting 7,000+.
Why not us?

7,000 of us in Blackburn would be a huge risk from a policing perspective.

Think the days of getting the full end are over. I reckon we'll get 3,500-4000 in lower tier.

It’ll end up being closer to 29,000 in the town, or locked out of the ground. Massive club Leeds…

Having no idea how many points people have, if we get the 4000 tickets people are suggesting, what is the liklihood of getting a ticket. I am in the season ticket holder with 900 points bracket.

Honestly after going in their ‘hospitality’ for the last game I wouldn’t give that club another penny.

Despite apparently happy to welcome discreet away fans (no colours etc) they refused to read out team sheets, but more worryingly did absolutely nothing to try and prevent the Burnley fan who (not intentionally or obnoxiously) gave away he was a Burnley fan and proceeded to get absolutely battered in the concourse.

I was invited by friends who are rovers fans and didn’t cheer the Burnley goals but witnessed various home fans direct abuse and threats to people who they thought maybe Burnley fans.

To be honest maybe naive to think they’d steward it a bit better but the rank bitterness wasn’t just from a few fans, the staff and club stank of it.

Reading that and the behaviour of their fans I witnessed earlier in the season, it seems the show is very firmly on the other foot now with regards to their bitterness. It’s superb.

Bitter blues.

Hope we hammer them.

They will give us the absolute bare minimum I'm sure. I would think if you have 900 points you would be very lucky to get a ticket for this one.

I don’t understand why they can’t give us the full end? It holds 7,800 + hospitality, but most clubs these days, if they can fill it, get 7,335 or similar at best with a little segregation.

We took 7,000 for the 2005 FA Cup reply without much incident from memory, and took over 5,000 for the League Cup tie in 2017, again without major incident.

Enjoy living there? I used to enjoy drinking there in the mid/late '70s. Even had two really good friends who were Rovers fans.

More accurately, I lived in Darwen and, to be fair, I did enjoy living there. Having worked at the Brewery for 24 years, I have plenty of friends over there. I have to say that the banter, over that time, did see many of them wind their necks in and adopt a more reasonable attitude towards the stature of our two clubs.

We moved to Burnley as we're in our early 70's and decided to downsize and buy a small bungalow. The ideal one turned up, in Burnley, on the boundary with Padiham. Family and grandchildren live very close by with Gawthorpe, Ivy Bank, The Lodges/Padiham Green on the doorstep for walking the dog. Couldn't be better.

My partner's family are fairly staunch Rover's fans but, not unusually, rarely attend.

Will miss the horses though !!! :o

I'm glad you found your ideal little bungalow. The two Rovers fans, I met at Alsager Coillege in 1979. We all lived together in a shared house in Crewe for a while. Two great lads. Sadly one of them, Frank Cairney, died of testicular cancer in the early hours of 1986. The other one, who hails from Great Harwood, is still living. I am originally from Skipton. Regards, Nick

I was in the Jack Walker Stand, and some lads 3-4 rows behind me got battered after celebrating Benson's goal. I don't know how vociferously they celebrated so it's hard to judge whether the reaction was "deserved". Obviously, it's not acceptable, but whether it is or not, one can anticipate what the reaction might be.

We (a group of 10 Clarets) sat on our hands and exchanged some side glances.

I celebrated Blake's goal, in the same stand, a decade ago (sat adjacent to, but not amongst the Burnley directors, who all did the same) and - despite not having any serious aggro - realised it was a significant error of judgement.

Suited me down to the ground. Small campus environment and could be in lectures ten minutes after getting up!

I thought the town would struggle when the Sports Science and other departments moved over to Manchester resulting in no student community, but after a quick look on Google Maps there seems to be a lot of new housing developments and bars/restaurants built.

I reckon they will give us a full allocation.

They are talking their team up at the minute and definitely think they have a chance, so it would be best to have as many of us in there.

Be even funnier when we beat them though.

Interesting what you say about the town thriving. The fear was definitely that it would collapse because of the college closing. In fact, not long after the college closed, I was talking to a bloke from the town in a pub in Walthamstow, London, who feared the worst. Glad it didn't happen.

I only lived on campus in the first year - Emberton South top, room 44, I think, to be precise, then I moved into a house in Crewe with the two Blackburn fans, the summer we went down to the 3rd for the first time, as they got promoted back to the 2nd. Oh well. I also lived in Talke Pits, Kidsgrove and Wrinehill, near Keele University, actually just past Madeley, where the legendary Dave Burnley lives. I got to know him, too.

The attachment is from rovers fan forum which indicates it'll be a bigger allocation this time. I think Burnley will be releasing more details in the next week or so. Usually away tickets go on sale about a month before so that should be Monday 2nd December. I think it'll be an allocation of 4k personally.

Probably around 3500 + hospitality.
I was talking a Blackburn employee and he said we are getting the lower tier plus 250 in hospitality so this will be the correct amount

he also said to be fair Blackburn wanted to sell the full allocation , but the police refused on safety grounds , they should have offered to take everyone on the coaches and police wouldn't have reason then

also mentioned tickets are going on sale around the 9th of December

The Lower holds 4500 but they won't sell seats in the 2 end sections, hence the 3500.

A few of my mates booked the hospitality a while ago. Including VAT it costs around £225 each.

well i saw that Sunderland have been given an allocation of 7,300 for boxing day , which they will no doubt sell out, couple that with the same allocation for Leeds a few games earlier.

i can see us not getting over 3000 as they will take the financial hit as they will have sold over 14,000 tickets to away fans for just those 2 games. they simply wont want a backlash from their fans for letting us take over 7,000.

that said, they should afford us the same allocation of those 2 clubs, the policing argument goes out of the window when you look at those two clubs, so if there was any way that we as a club could ask the league to intervene if they did give us a smaller allocation then we should do.
