Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
tbh it's a good interview in terms of the general feel of what is happening. I really like him as a bloke, seems a very humble honest guy and I want him to succeed.............but the football on show is making it very hard.
No mention whatsoever of Tresor again, what a complete waste of money.

Wow Parker is so utterly monotone no wonder our football is so mindnumingly boring. Cannot see how he can motivate the players. Another borefest awaits on Saturday and only about 45 mins in a Bristol pub to be anaesthetised enough to watch us aim for a nil nil.
Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
Yeah, that was dire all around from the questions to the answers, but can't really blame SP when you get questions like that.

I’m not sure why they broadcast them to be honest given he gets judged on them. He’s there to answer questions from the media. Not his fault the questioning is as it is.

Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
Which is understandable in my opinion.
He could well have played a key role and be the flair we need this season , he cost a decent fee with no return at this point and his value must have dropped massively now.
Rumours have been going round since summer about him being injured , sick or wanting away.
It seems he's been back training on the grass a while now with suggestions of him being in the squad soon back in late September.
It's very frustrating when we paid a decent amount, we need him playing and he needs to be in the shop window if he's fit , in my opinion.

Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
Tbh it's not an obsession. We have a potential player who could make a massive difference to our fortunes this season (based on his historical performances in Belgium), who was "a few weeks away" according to Parker. Think that was said about 6 weeks ago.
We paid a LOT of money for him, he will be on pretty hefty wages, we have seen hardly anything of him since he came through the door.
If he's not going to play for us again, I wish the club would just come out and say it rather than just playing us for fools.

Don’t think it’s an obsession one of our most ever expensive signings, a probable top earner who hasn’t been seen for coming up to a year despite two months ago we were told he’s back in training yet not even played in the under 23’s. Maybe Remco Van Der Schaff is his agent.

I’ve posted previously. He has had some issues that have prevented him from playing.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 5:29 pmDon’t think it’s an obsession one of our most ever expensive signings, a probable top earner who hasn’t been seen for coming up to a year despite two months ago we were told he’s back in training yet not even played in the under 23’s. But it has become an obsession. We even had it because he wasn’t in the under 21 team. I would suggest we might see him play when he’s able to.
Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
I think it has become an obsession on here. Mainly because we have heard absolutely nothing as to whats the matter with him. Parker stated weeks ago that he was training. Also some people on here claim to know whats wrong but are not willing to disclose. Thats why theres an obsession.

No which I was surprised about, Scrafton tends to pick up on what the fans have been talking about on X and then ask but I'm not sure if it was him asking the questions . It's almost as if they've been told not to ask anymore. Not sure about you Tony but I think it's unlikely we will see him play for us

So everyone's happy with the football the teams playing? We are lucky that the division is such a low standard this season so far. 4th flatters us. The atmosphere at the turf is getting more dire each game those who sit around me keep questioning why they make the effort to be there. Parkerball as we were warned by both Bournemouth and Fulham fans is unexciting. As I have done for over 60 years I will there at Bristol cheering the team on loudly as always and hoping for some entertainment.

Not remotely that - go back 3 or 4 weeks and he said he was close to being selectable. The sensible person would ask a follow up of 'where is he'. If you are calling that obsession then you are wide of the mark.

Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
We’ve gone down this route before arguing if fans want to know too much about players who aren’t playing however if Parker had come out and said Tresor was having issues away from his physical fitness that were preventing him from playing I think most fans would have excepted that similar to the Lyle Foster situation and left it to the club for any updates.
Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
If Tresor leaves in January and play immediately for new team. That will be very annoying.

Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
You have to think why aren't fans obsessed about Beyer or Ramsey. Simple -we only needed telling once and given some transparency. As a result everyone seems to have adopted a patient stance about their return, as and when, and expectations have not been raised about either. We have fully accepted their situation and I am sure all our fans are hoping they come back 100% right as Burnley players. Say nothing and sorry, but the imagination wanders particularly when you are desperate for reinforcements

Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
I’ll admit to being one that has probably contributed to the obsession, particularly after the last U21s selection.
To explain myself, that is specifically because Parker said he was a two weeks away from being selectable and he was ahead of the others… three weeks ago. I think it’s therefore inevitable he’ll be the subject of some debate several weeks on. I also think our lack of goals and his price tag/presumed high wages are another reason he gets more attention than others.
Will reserve judgement until 11:31 on Saturday but I have to say the fact SP did not mention Tresor & nobody asked would suggest to me that the media were briefed not to ask questions this week… whether that’s because good or bad news is imminent remains to be seen.

Haven’t listened to this one yet but usually it’s the same guy who starts off the questions (Scott Read?) and boy are they tedious. To be honest SP does well to keep his cool, they’re just too repetitious week in, week out. He wants to go to a proper journalism school and learn how to be more incisive with the questions

I think a lot of journalists just parrot the same old crap ie Is a win today important? What did it feel like conceding a goal in the last minute ? What’s it like playing 3 games in a week? etc etc.longsidetrumpet wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 7:32 pmHaven’t listened to this one yet but usually it’s the same guy who starts off the questions (Scott Read?) and boy are they tedious. Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
It's not an obsession. It's an absolutely reasonable question and should continue to be asked. A club like ours can't just sign players for over 10 million and then sweep it under the carpet and pretend it hasn't happened.
Also, it was me who brought him up on an under 21 thread because of the selection of Ekdal and Redmond. To me that was a strong indicator that what Parker has said about him doesn't add up. We've had the few weeks and then some which is what he said was needed, so it's time to ask him again.

Its not an obsession. Its fully understandable. If a business pumps MILLIONS into a asset. Why WOULDNT you want to know when said asset was going to used.
Its a legitimate question and from the perspective of people not in know, they will continue to ask until the answer is known. He has the potential to be our best player I think theres something wrong with you if you dont want to know.
Granted. If he’s never going to play for us. Its the nature of the beast that we’ll never be told. As it will devalue our asset.
But leave the people asking alone!

'Stableness' is the key!!
It's becoming clear the journos have been instructed not to mention M.Tresor. The interview was a 10 minute ramble of nothingness. A bit like the football really.

Very well put, it's interesting to note that SP commented about every injured player except Tresor, and wasn't even asked about him.I can't understand how CT doesn't find that strange. In fact the whole saga surrounding Tresor is strange to say the least.Ric_C wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 5:23 pmTbh it's not an obsession. If you’d told me mid last season that I’d be bothered about whether he was fit or not, I wouldn’t have believed you.
I think that’s a little bit to do with the fact I expect
he might look much better at a lower level (like Trafford), and also a symptom of amount of attacking quality we’ve sold/lack of goals scored as a result. I’m hoping he may add some composure/quality in the final third that we’ve lacked, but it’s definitely more hope than expectation.

The obsession (or perhaps the more apt word is frustration) with Tresor is simply that we currently have a team so devoid of creativity and pace yet have this guy (who cost a lot of money) not even being mentioned. Even after Parker has advised he was very close a few weeks ago.
This team is crying out for someone like Tresor.

Rings a bell that Matt Scrafton has just gone off work for an op, sure I saw it on X but could be wrong. That will have limited some of the questions.
On Tresor, the reason we are obsessive is because he is very good (should be very very good at this level). If he was rubbish nobody would mention him. But my guess remains a move without playing again and a sudden return to a first team somewhere else. Doesn’t suit BFC to hammer him publicly and reduce his value yet further. Whatever the truth is it will come out afterwards without the hints and half stories.

Very aptly put. No blame on him for the poor level of journalists he is facing but mundane reaches a new depth from Parker. Could 'bore for Britain' and his team/ squad reflects that perfectly. Just cannot see a way out of this one for us with him at the helm.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 8:29 pmAll these people that say Parker comes across well….. he speaks a lot but actually says very little. Yes, he wasn't up to much but not many were last season !
Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
We just need to cut our losses with Mike.
Sounds like he’s been through a tough time, but still, you can’t get away from the fact he didn’t really want to be here to begin with.
If he was going to be given first team minutes, then you’d think he would be in the u21’s like Ekdal and Redmond.
Best for all parties that he’s moved on in Jan.

Well I'll admit it, I am a bit obsessed with the Tresor situation! It's really bizarre. But we're also talking about a player who broke the assists record in a season in Belgium and 1 in 5 goal ratio ish across his career too. What Benson and Zaroury combined did in that league doesn't really compare.
He's played around 15 times in a massively struggling side last year. I'm not sure he's getting better while injured, I've always thought he could be a huge asset and needed time to adapt.

To the posters that are referencing how Tresor did last season, you need to remember that was in the Premier League - the Championship is quite literally a different level altogether. It’s far far inferior in quality and someone like Tresor should really be having a lot of fun and being a bit too good for the level - much like Summerville at Leeds last year.

I just take the approach that he isn't going to play for us and likely to leave in January.
It is worth trying as it stops the weekly will he / won't he be mentioned in the presser, be in the squad or play. If he then does appear in a line up it will then be a bonus. That way you don't find yourself saying the same things in the build up to every game.

Scott, sometimes we would like a rollercoaster and not STABLE every. single. game.
He drives me mad with his tedious interviews about changing nothing and being stable. If we were playing well and winning games, then talk about stability, but when fans are sick of watching your team, don't tell us that you're gonna keep doing the same thing, it doesn't inspire anyone.

Re: Parker pre match v Bristol City
