From Live TV

Trafford - 7 - Not a great deal of work but two good saves and some tidy passing under pressure. I guess he was booked for kicking the ball away and his wasting time is so obvious.

Roberts - 7 - Began the game in typical Roberts fashion, starting a feud with Mehmeti, but thankfully after that he just got on with it. Good defensively and in attack but, as at Millwall, why does he get to mark the biggest man - McNally?

Egan-Riley - 7 - Not up to his usual high standard. Defensively OK but made a couple of mistakes. His long forward passing was understandably poor.

Esteve - 7 - Solid. I was just thinking how rarely he commits fouls when he takes out a player and gets a yellow!

Pires - 6 - Did OK helping out in attack and defensively but the introduction of Hirakawa caused him problems. Rightly hooked as he was one or two steps away from a red card. Humphreys showed him how to defend.

Hannibal - 5 - He has energy and he takes up good positions and tries to make good passes. However in the first half his passing was awful. Much improved in the second half.

Cullen - 7 - Had a good game, some good interceptions occasional forays forward.

Brownhill - 8 - MoM - Everywhere today and to good effect.

Anthony - 7 - Quietly effective in defence and attack. I don’t think he is a particularly talented player but what he does he does well. He is our biggest threat and scored with a quality finish.

Rodriguez - 7 - Finished? Not on this performance. An occasional threat, hit the bar, linked things quite well and useful defensively.

Koleosho - 6 - The usual failures but some good stuff too. Cross for the goal, nearly scored - a cooler head might have done better.

Subs. None on long enough but they all looked good decisions as we lost the initiative and it looked like City were going to throw the ball into big men.

I enjoyed this match. Played in horrendous conditions, players of both sides deserve credit for putting on this show. Part of our usual play, the long ball forward, was hardly possible. But we did successfully employ some good short intricate passing and with Bristol City playing quite openly we had some good passages of play.

The first quarter we didn’t look much in the game but in the second quarter we were better and scored the goal. In the second half, the third quarter, we were excellent and all that was missing was a goal or two. We then got pinned more and more back although survived this pretty well (including a bit of luck with the Brownhill handball).

This is a good result.

From tv.

Trafford..8. pulled off the big one when it mattered.. near faultless distribution.
Roberts...7..bet he was bloody awkward as a kid.
Pires...6..
Esteve..8..another to get mentioned in despatches..but untroubled for the first 60.
CJ...9.mom...one poxy header apart this was simply brilliant..
Brownhill..8..a gear higher than recent games..fingers crossed re his knock.
Cullen..8..ran the show..this was pretty much how VK used him.
Hannibal..8..provided our spark..and gives us a bit of much needed needle...needs to play the ref a bit better mind.
Kolo..8...actively looking for the pass a few times..barely ran into heavy traffic.
Anthony..8..his best game..pace, trickery and end product.
Jay...8..Still life in the old warhorse..70 or so good minutes before he started to flag.

A performance that really epitomises where we’re at in our development. There’s so much to like about what we do, and are trying to do, and then we do our best to throw it away with moments of sloppiness.

I do feel like we’ve turned a corner though, with Parker taking the handbrake off a touch. Lack a killer instinct in front of goal which we’re negating by being so solid at the back. Hopefully that continues.

Great win on the road. Back the team and the manager lads.. To me it's clear he wanted to first make us hard to beat before opening it up a bit - this is how promotion is won! Just 6 conceded in 16 games is bloody awesome.

Trafford 9 - solid in terrible conditions and outstanding goalkeeping to come out and time the big save right
Roberts 7 - decent though a little frustrating he turns back when too far forward (on instruction clearly)
Egan-Riley 9 - proving a revelation and again looked comfortable
Estève 8 - some timely and strong interceptions
Pires 7 - as Roberts, times when he could have pushed on but turned back into traffic
Cullen 9 - got out of some tight situations brilliantly today and was instrumental in our control
Brownhill 7 - solid while not producing any real quality
Anthony 8 - an enigma, you can see the Arsenal background and he was direct at times and did a great finish, other times he was wasteful
Hannibal 8 - they couldn't handle him first half, fast feet and quick passing, then he lost his rag after being booked and got hooked 30 seconds after all fans were saying he needed to be, good management
Koleosho 7 - still too predictable on his cuts inside into traffic but had a reasonable game
Rodriguez 9 - outstanding game, held it up well, hit the bar, caused problems and was a focal point

I was really pleased with today against a good team albeit one that are quite open which played into our hands. We created a bit more again and it was just poor finishing or brilliant goalkeeping that stopped us. We are missing about 6-7 forward players which could transform our team so when we factor this in we should have enough to keep ticking along at 2 points per game, a tally that our rivals may struggle to keep up with as the winter bites.

I still get frustrated at when promising moves are stopped with negative turning back, not moving forward for a 1-2, or passing back when the forward pass is on. I'll excuse it away from home to top half opponents but, as was the case under Dyche, I suspect it is a case of a manager needing to be brave enough to adjust his style slightly. This team should blow teams away, with the caveat that we haven't got Andre Grey or Danny Ings this time. We just need to swarm forwards and overwhelm, then drop back into our shape if we lose the ball.

But we have 16 played, 9 away and 7 at home. We have played most of the top teams away already. We have the best defensive record after 16 games since the Championship was created in that name. Really these are great facts and should give us confidence we can crack on despite our recent wobbles scoring goals.

We used to be the team that went behind and could not get back in the game. Now we are the side that takes the lead and defend brilliantly to maintain that lead

Trafford 7-one immense save, ensuring our 3 points
Roberts 7-great first half but did not stay tight to their winger in 2nd half
Egan Riley 7-shaky start but back to his self later
Esteve 7-his usual defensive game. Great pass for our goal
Pires 7-a polished display, but good move to bring on Humphreys who is a better defender
Cullen 7-some very good play and distribution, but got caught a few times
Hannibal 7-unlucky not to get more fans. He had a very good intensive first half
Brownhill 7-thought his best game in the last 5. Great cross for a wasted opportunity by Hannibal/Koleosho
Koleosho 7-very quiet start but great cross for our goal, and some good wing play
Anthony 7-took his goal really well-it was harder than it looked. At times he looked very hard to defend against
Jayrod 7-extremely good performance leading the line.Tired at the end. Very good header. Some good aerial defending too
Laurent 7-showed his experience in managing the game

From the Telly

Trafford 7 - another clean sheet, v good save 1 on 1
Roberts 7 - Great entertainment early on
Egan-Riley 8 - solid again
Esteve 8 - love him
Pires 7 - worked well with Luca I felt
Cullen 8* - back to his best today
Hannibal 7 - gets about, but should have had at least a shot on target from the position he found himself in.
Brownhill 7 - hope the injury is not serious
Anthony 8 - getting better on the right
Koleosho 7 - a threat today
Jay 8 - Probably kept on too long, its not the game time now its the recovery time!

Sarmiento 6 - shame he's always late back from these internationals
Laurent 6 - experience shows
Humphreys 6 steadied things as Pires was on a dangerous yellow
Egan 6 good to see him
Massengo 6 likewise.

They make an appearance, they get their fee, so they get a mark from me  They all did a job out there!

Trafford 7
As usual, didn't have much to do but made a crucial save.

Pires 7
Really good going forward, although their winger did cause some him some trouble in the second half.

Esteve 7
Mr. Reliable.

Egan-Riley 7
Had a few important tackles. His passing was less accurate than usual, though.

Roberts 6
Decent game, although I'm not a fan of his off the ball stuff.

Cullen 8 MOTM
His best game this season. Immense in the last twenty minutes.

Brownhill 7
Unlucky not to get an assist.

Hannibal 6
An OK performance. Did well at times, but also made a few mistakes.

Koleosho 7
Way better than in the last few weeks. Heavily involved in our goal, worked hard, just a shame he didn't bury that chance.

Anthony 8
Scored a winner, could have had another and he was very creative. Well done.

Rodriguez 8
Didn't know he still had that kind of performance in him.

Won't rate subs, but I have to say I was impressed with Bashir. Won pretty much everything since coming on.

Trafford 9 - Sign of a good keeper. Awful conditions not much to do and a great save to win the three points.
Roberts 8 - Supported Anthony and solid defensively.
Egan-Riley 9 - We've unearthed an absolute gem.
Estève 8 - Usual solid game. Its some CB partnership.
Pires 8 - Was a much needed outlet on the left and helped Koleosho immensely.
Cullen 8 - Helped the midfield tick and getting back to his best.
Brownhill 8 - Usual energy and commitment.
Anthony 9 - Brilliant in the first half and worked hard, extra point for a very good finish.
Hannibal 8 - Showed what he is about in the first 60, they couldn't cope with him. Brought off at the right time, still young, especially in mentality.
Koleosho 8 - Played really well and could and possibly should have scored.
Rodriguez 9* - The performance we have been crying out for from our front men, providing a focal point, target man, goal threat, outlet, hold up top.

Nothing less than 8 for anyone on an away win, we were outstanding in the first 60 and showed our grit in the final 20 when most teams would have folded.

Given the first 70 minutes was a lesson in controlled passing and the last 20 minutes virtually a siege, I think the team performance was excellent today.

Overall I think we could have battered Bristol today but we still lack the killer instinct for now.

Hannibal was very good first half but his temperament is always questionable and when it comes to the fore and he gets booked his game is hindered. Second half he was way off it but there is huge potential there for me.

A lot of misplaced simple passes by most of the side in attacking and transitional phases was very frustrating , but if this all comes together then the team could well steam roll a lot of this league .

First half + first 15 of second half was pretty good. Just needed that second goal

Trafford 6 : Despite their heavy pressure he had very few saves to make. One excellent save when he stood his ground and pushed away Yu’s shot.
Roberts 6 : Fairly solid. Most of their crosses came from down his flank but, to be fair, they were hit in from deep. Battled with the rest of his defence.
Egan-Riley 8 MOM : Keeps on improving. Touches of genuine class, key interceptions and reads the game very well.
Estève 7 : Could possibly have avoided his booking but their winger needed stopping and the conditions might have turned a tackle into a foul. Otherwise was as steady as ever.
Pires 7 : Thought he defended well. Seems to be stepping up.
Cullen 8 : Mr Metronome. Tidied up so many balls. Not all his passes came off but he is good at what he’s there for.
Brownhill 7 : A much better performance from Josh. His was the shot that was parried by O’Leary and led to the goal. Excellent turn and shot in the second-half when we came close to getting a second. Have to hope his injury isn’t serious.
Koleosho 6 : His best performance for some time. Set the move going that led to the goal. I hope it will boost the lad.
Hannibal 6 : Decent performance. He’s targeted every game à la Joey Barton. McNally could have got a red for the way he wiped him out. He didn’t actually commit many fouls but instead put in a shift. Showed great courtesy to the home crowd by applauding them when subbed off.

Anthony 8 : Took the goal well. Much better performance from him today. No shortage of effort and much more concrete.
Jay 8 : Showed us he can still do a job. Led the line well and never hesitated to drop deep to help out and seek the ball.
SP : Perhaps should have subbed Jay earlier. Perhaps if Flemming had been available he might have done that. Had a word with Hannibal to ensure he stayed focused.

I thought the first hour was the best we’ve played since August. Much, much better than recent performances. We looked much sharper, retained possession and were incisive. I felt we may have taken a blow psychologically when we failed to get the second. We lost our way in the last half-hour but when you look at Bristol City never really threatened after Yu’s shot was very well saved by Trafford. Lots of positives : our first win away since DL, first back-to-back wins since the first two games of the season.

Fair play to both sides for playing a decent game in rubbish weather. Also, credit to the home fans for their attitude towards Josh Brownhill.

A good way to restart after the international break.

.Trafford - 8 - one excellent save and otherwise assured in very challenging conditions.

Roberts - 7 - steady and neat in possession.

Pires - 7 - pretty solid until booked, and used the ball really smartly, as he tends to.

Egan Riley - 8 - a little less tidy in possession today but outstanding defensively.

Esteve - 9 - pretty much flawless.

Cullen - 8 - busy and tidy, given a lease of life by more intensity around him.

Brownhill - 8 - hopefully the injury is something and nothing because his intensity with and without the ball was excellent.

Hannibal - 7 - the key to this performance was greater intensity in our pressing and quicker movement of the ball, and like Brownhill, Hannibal was key to that. Showed good pace and his one touch link up with Anthony was really good at times. However, he got riled, got booked and became less effective with it, and the calmer he is and the simpler he plays, the more effective he is.

Anthony - 8 - took his goal well and carried a threat when wide right. If anything he looks more comfortable there than on the left, and several super crosses deserved more. Diligent when moved to the unfamiliar centre forward position later on.

Koleosho- 7 - looked refreshed from a break and some time on the training ground. Sharp in possession and when carrying the ball, and did exactly what is asked of him for the goal, but with more gamblers instinct he'd have at least one goal and perhaps more. Should have buried the clearest chance but on that and other occasions, he needed to get inside the back post not hang 5 yards beyond it.

Rodriguez - 7 - gave us a platform at centre forward we've lacked at times, carried a threat and his link up was tidy considering the conditions. Also helped put vastly improved pressing.

Laurent - 7 - steadied things after Hannibal had begun to lose his head.

Humphrys- 7 - shored up our left side.

Sarmiento- 5 - not really in the game and the game didn't really suit him.

Much to like about the last 25 minutes of the first half and the first 15 of the second. The key was that we moved the ball with more purpose and we pressed with far more intensity. Rodriguez gave us a platform amd the two wide players held their width but made purposeful out to in runs. The only criticism was that we didn't capitalise - and whilst we had more cutting edge we still didn't get enough players into goalscoring positions at times with Koleosho the biggest culprit.

Nonetheless, plenty to build on, and the way we dug in was impressive. That defensive record is not to be sniffed at.

Sorry for double error in my ratings. First away win since Sheffield Wednesday. First back-to-back since DL and Portsmouth.

Trafford 7- top draw save , distribution good in poor conditions, is he really 6”6?
Roberts 6- very scrappy from the hot headed boyo, needs to join a Welsh choir to calm him .
Egan Riley 8. This guy just gets better , he’s a clever footballer and even though his first mention in match was called “ o’reilley “ he’ll be worth 20m b’jesus .
Esteve 7 controlled if not as neat passing as usual from Steve .. encore !
Pirez 7- better all round from the Brazilian Jon Flanagan
Brownhill 7 allowed more space in this formation and battled hard apart from the erm “ hand of god “ …
Cullen 7- ropey start but eased into the game and lovely passing , cool as beans !
Hannibal 7 a real scrapper , clearly insane but we don’t care looked a useful starter today and played a bit too .
Koleosho 7- much better from the dreadlocked trickster
Anthony 7- faded but a classy threat 1st half .
Rodriguez 8- great game , an occasional threat , good movement, heading and top defensive work from the man bunned veteran.

These hard fought 0-1 away wins scream promotion !

Excellent win in the worst conditions for football.

Trafford 7 crucial 1 on 1 stop to preserve our lead

Roberts 7

Egan-Riley 8 superb

Esteve 8 same

Pires 7

Cullen 8 metronome returns

Brownhill 9 excellent today, full of energy, set the tempo and should have had an assist at least. V lucky with a blatant handball.

Hannibal 5 lots of energy and decent pressing but he hasn’t got the passing range for that weird inside right position he’s playing. Another needless booking and he’s out of the game again.

Anthony 7 good poacher’s finish and put some decent balls in

Koleosho 7 much more effective than of late, played a big part in the goal. Decision making still needs a lot of work but this was an improvement.

Rodriguez 8 playing an actual centre forward as a centre forward made us look miles better going forward. Really unlucky not to score and was vital to our defending set pieces as well.

A very good 3 points.

Controlled the game for 70 minutes. Dug in for 20.

We’re still giving the ball away too often in our own half trying to play out.

Don't do ratings but although Hannibal wasn't the best player he was 100% the difference from the recent run of stale performances

With Hannibal leading the press we start to look like Dyche's first promotion team winning the ball back quickly and causing them problems

First time since Luton we've looked a top two team and for 20 mins in the second half we were playing as good football as we did under Kompany

Trafford - 7 - one big save

Roberts - 7 - solid
Egan Riley - 8 - another good game
Esteve - 7 - solid - silly booking
Pires - 6 - solid enough but another one with a silly booking

Cullen - 8* - thought he had his best game to date this season
Brownhill - 7 - some good stuff - hopefully a knock as opposed to something more serious
Hannibal - 7 - looked a threat but a walking yellow/red card

Anthony - 7 - good finish
Jay rid - 8 - he’s finished apparently. Wrap in cotton wool between games please
Koleosho - 7 - better - good work in build up to goal

From tv
Trafford 7 one fabulous save, but still flapped at a couple of corners
Robert's 7 a bit petulant at times
ER 7 a bit dodgy first 15 mins then back to normal
Esteve 8 Rolls Royce
Pires 6 caught out positional lay a couple of times
Anthony 7 his best game for us so far
Cullen 8 mom kept us ticking over for the whole game
Brownhill 7 much better than of late
Hannibal 7 very good first half, he brings good intensity, faded after yellow card and rightfully subbed
Koleosho 7 much better, not as wasteful
Jayrod 8 the clock was wound back ten years

Much better cohesion in our play but we still give the ball away far too much. Hannibal brought some intensity to midfield in the first half which took some weight of Cullen. Excellent three points in difficult conditions, but let's not fool ourselves, this wasn't a great performance. A big improvement, yes and it shows Parker is working on our weak areas, but we still have a lot to do before we reach our team best.
