Anyone betting whether CJ says he meant it or it was a fluke?
He deserved it for the way he battled to get the ball back.
Had to be a cross.
But good on him.

Definite cross but did really well to keep it alive in the first place.

Pleased for the lad he really deserved a goal.. and the way the players reacted to him scoring including Trafford who ran half the pitch to congratulate him.. shows how much high regard he is held in for me by the players

I've missed these suggestions about moving a defender into a cdm role, makes the board complete again
He's a CB and it's spot to lose
6 goals conceded in the league this season, where he's played the majority of the games at CB, that's no coincidence
See what you mean. But do you think Beyer - if he comes back could play in front of the back four. He certainly has qualities for that in this division.

Another top class performance with a goal too.
Amazing to think that if all of our central defenders had been fit he very likely wouldn't have even got near the bench. He is probably the first name on the team sheet now.

Player of the season for me. Joy to watch at the moment and credit to Esteve who is a great partner.

Quickly turning into a fan favourite and one of the first names on the team sheet.
Worrall and Esteve are very similar distribution wise, slow and safe, where as CJ has another string to his bow with his range of passing.
I’m still astounded he’s turned out to be as good as he is.

Let's not forget the importance of having a couple of years away on loan playing some 1st-team footy. Apparently, he impressed up in Scotland. It didn't do Jay, nor many other players, any harm in their early days.

Seems to be a bit beyond just having a few good games now. I’m glad he’s winning over his doubters from his first couple of games and a good example of being patient to his fellow teammates wanting to break into the team like he was .
The highest compliment I can give him at the moment is that it’s no longer just about the stand out Steve.

Only just seen the highlights. Doubt he meant to score but what mattered was his battling to get into that position and then put in a dangerous ball.
Made up for the lad.

I remember when we signed Worrall much was made on here of the leadership qualities that he would bring. Last night both Brownhill and Worrall were missing yet the team put in a great performance and were not lacking in endeavour or team spirit. Great to see and long may it continue.

Anyone else think Egan Riley would make a really good CDM as we go on, doing what Cullen did, dropping into the right or left cb role and starting all the moves off.
His ball striking ability and control is unbelievable

He played CDM quite a lot before he came here and that's where he will probably end up... A lot depends on how he does in the Prem as a central defender if he gets to play there.

How many more games does he have to play yellow card free to avoid a one match ban?
Is it two more?

Those who said he was no where near good enough have gone very quiet. As I’ve said before. Imagine slagging a young lad off who has made very few appearances in his career. Give him a chance. He’s now took that chance and well done pal. The imbreds will now move on to the next target.

The first time I saw him was in the Shrewsbury friendly at the start of the VK reign. I thought he had something about him then. I'm really pleased that he's had a break in the game and grabbed it with both hands.

Hahaha I just think eventually he would make a great quarter back style cdm.
However the way modern football is, if he carries on in the direct he is, he is going to make a great defender in a back 3

I think we need to take time to judge him both ways.
The way are some are going on he will be playing for Man City soon.
He’s improved at a crazy rate this season but the reality is the league is as bad as I can ever remember. He hasn’t really been tested as we have dominated most games (for clarity I mean we have dominated the ball and nearly all the play is in front of him).

He'd be perfect playing in the middle of a three man defence with wing backs.
I've said this previously and got slaughtered which was reassuring as I have vision and knowledge beyond most people on here.

Yeah I’ve just said in another reply, with modern football he’s tailored to a back 3 isn’t he

Quality, strength, nouse, pace, aggression, skill and his passing out of defence is the best in this league bar none.

Can’t heap enough praise on the lad, after being slightly terrified following his short cameo against Bastards. Humble pie well and truly eaten.
Get this lad tied down to a new deal, Alan!

I remember Koleosho running rings round Spurs’s football who had been booked and VK swapped him to the other wing at half time so it’s not always the fans.
Wingers swapping sides is different.
Not at like moving from CB to a midfield position.
