What is your Lager of choice ?

Post by ClaretsPadiham » Tue Nov 26, 2024 6:25 pm

What is your preferred choice ??

Morreti, Cruz Campo, Madri all decent.

Also Cobra is decent at an Indian as is Tiger.

I go through stages of having favourites…

At the moment Staropramen is my go to, lovely in the handled pint glass. (bought one for home). Lovely stuff.

Lost, Peroni, Moretti, Poretti, Staropramen.

Whatever is the best deal but I gravitate towards Star and Peroni

Local Miners Welfare sells Veltins - a very pleasant tipple.
I don't tend to buy lagers brewed in the UK because they reduce the alcohol content on purpose.

When abroad I buy:
Jupiler
Pelforth
Loburg

Kid you not. Relative of mind will ONLY drink beer at room temperature or higher, especially lager. Basically will only drink warm beer.

I went round one Christmas, brought round some cans and made sure they were cold enough to swill in his company. Handed him one and he put it in front of the fire. Said he drink it in an hour when it had warmed up! 🤯

23c lager yummy

Has there ever been a lager that you don’t have to chill first in order to hide its taste

I rarely drink anymore but in the house I will only drink Krombacher when out normally Carling or a bottle of something. On a recent effort to get down with the kids in the Big Market I quite enjoyed a few Madri, so might change to that when out in the future.

For myself I can’t really understand why, other than on a baking hot day, anyone would prefer lager to a nice IPA or pale ale but if I had to choose it would def be German , say Paulaner or Kozel.

What was that stuff the Taylor's pubs used to sell, deliberately, so no-one would drink it?

Ah - I remember - Ayingerbrau. Had Heidi's grandad grinning at you on the faunt.

I used to like that.

Kozel: Světlý Lezak or Černý
Švyturys: Ekstra or Amber
Cēsu 5.2%
Volfas Engelman: - 1410 or Dark.
All the above will do nicely.

My lager of choice would probably be to choose not to drink it, but I see German lager's have some following, so, perhaps Hexen Pissen would be appropriate.
