I said earlier to move the defence round. Humphreys left, Egan right and ER right back. At least get some balance.

Re: Norwich v Burnley Sunday 15th Dec Match thread
We are pressing with plenty of numbers but are extremely poor on the ball, so many misplaced passes, with a fair percentage of them under no pressure whatsoever from the opposition.
This isn't new, so many games this season we move the ball too slowly and are very predictable.
The only guy we have who can commit players and go past them is Sarmiento, the rest are like a table football team.
I have seen quotes calling our fanbase entitled. How we can have regressed so far from the team we saw two years ago, throw a hundred million at it and be this poor is mind-boggling.

Pires off Humphreys to left side of back 3 Hannibal on and go for it. Hating listening to Burnley comms Birdy has no clue what is happening. Estève had a thigh injury for 10 mins before he went off yet Bird is still saying it is an illness.
We continue to look like conceding a second but don’t look remotely like scoring. We will not be promoted with this team under Parker

Norwich are a decent side on the break and have done well , we are kind of missing something today but one hopes we can turn it around in the 2nd half

Re: Norwich v Burnley Sunday 15th Dec Match thread
Heard a rumour this morning that the Burnley players were out in London on their Christmas party last night. It was originally scheduled to be after the Norwich game but with the game moving to Sunday it caused a bit of a problem.
Brownhill tried to get it changed but Mr Pace didnt want to lose his deposit so told them to crack on. Apparently Cullen and Egan-Riley we knocking back the Tequila Rose shots like there was no tomorrow whilst Esteve was so drunk he fell off the stage singing Karaoke!!
Thought it was just bullsh*t but after watching that first half performance Im not so sure now.

Dross.
I have honestly seen more competence in Under-15 teams.
At Liverpool, 60 yrs ago, Bill Shankly said get the ball, look up and pass it forwards to the nearest bloke in a red shirt.
Parker could learn from that, assuming his players can pass. (possibly not)

Re: Norwich v Burnley Sunday 15th Dec Match thread
Absolutely for me this is a fundamental aspect where we are lacking. So many times I see hesitation when controlling the ball and taking one touch too many when we’re “trying” to up the pace. We just can’t do it, and it’s telling. If we had players with the confidence to control and pass quickly (or at least much quicker let than we do now!) then we do have the makings of a good team. It’s the one aspect that we lack to unlock defences IMO

Just rubbish all round that. Esteve injury rubs salt into the wounds.

Re: Norwich v Burnley Sunday 15th Dec Match thread
The pressing and passing on display is so subpar, it's a leap to think we could be play-off contenders at this rate.
Set-pieces are abysmal, attacks are cumbersome, the midfield passive.
Starting to wonder if Pace could pot Parker.

You’d move our best centre back in the first half out to right back? Hannibal for koleosho? Fleming for jay??? Is that you Scott?Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 3:51 pmChanges I’d make.
Ekdal on for Pires, move Humphries out left and CJER to the right.
Laurent on for Cullen who’s looked like a passenger today.
Hannibal for Koleosho who’s looked weak today, and put Sarmiento on the wing with Hannibal in the hole.
Flemming for fresh legs in place of Jay, who I can’t actually fault except for his stamina which will go as the half progresses. Jay has looked like he cares though unlike many of the others.

Re: Norwich v Burnley Sunday 15th Dec Match thread
I'm trying to stay positive BUT FFS!, passive midfielders that only know how to pass backwards ............disjointed defence ( bar CJ) .............powder puff wide men and a sadly immobile striker that took his credit is trying desperately. It's truly awful to watch and I can't see us scoring if we keep this team on for the second half.

One of the worst players on the pitch, and there's a lot of competition.

We are in big trouble. We've got a bunch of bang average championship players.
Need at least 5 to be genuine title contenders. What am absolute mess we've created.

Dismal. No threat going forward, laboured, lethargic but above all predictable.
Re: Norwich v Burnley Sunday 15th Dec Match thread
CJ has made a lot of mistakes in the first half, and Egan only came on half way through for Esteve - and yet those two are our best players on the pitch. Says everything.

Re: Norwich v Burnley Sunday 15th Dec Match thread
Spot on. Pace has to take the brunt of the blame for me.
Spent way too much last season on a gamble and had to sell in a rush. The Auditors of the accounts expressed concerns for the business model and we saw some reasons why when we tried to sell anyone with a pulse.
We have a massively unbalanced squad that is still way too big.
The football isn't good to watch and Parker rightly takes blame for that, but he's far from the sole reason for this.

I just hope to God he doesn't put Flemming up front and/or Hannibal as an attacking midfielder.
The only way I want to see these players is if the manager is willing to play them in their correct positions.

People saying other Burnley fans are entitled for wanting better than the last three halves we've watched can absolutely shove it up their hoop.
Utterly blunt in attack and giving away far too many touches, time and possession at the back.

Re: Norwich v Burnley Sunday 15th Dec Match thread
Agree on pressing. Norwich have played through it way too easy. Barely any forced errors. The numbers are up initially but they’ve got a spare man every time. That’s tactical.

Have to say that has been a poor effort. Kicked off and corner conceded inside 40 seconds set the tone. I think there are mistakes in the Norwich defence but we're too far off them to exploit them. Some players just look like they are not bothered about being there.

You just know he will turn to Josh Laurent to change it. That isn’t a dig at him at all but instead of changing the system, it will be more of the same.

What hurts most after such a poor first half is remembering what Parker said after the Derby draw that the team were disappointed and hurting. They have a funny way of showing it-after the first half I could not give any player more than a 6 out of 10, in many cases a 4

Re: Norwich v Burnley Sunday 15th Dec Match thread
All been said above. Another unsurprisingly poor performance all round and particularly in "attack".
Can't see Flemming, Foster or Hountondji making any difference in the medium term. Could see this squad sliding into mid table.
