Hannibal
I thought he played excellent today . His quick passing , movement with and without the ball , a sublime dummy , and his usual battling back for the ball .Plus they tried to wind him up today and he didn't bite .

Hannibal
I’ve seen a lot of super – negative comments about Hannibal in recent weeks. For me, he is quality. Hannibal is essential to our press and the energy he brings to the team. His ball carrying is excellent, if not occasionally ponderous. His use of the ball today was magnificent. He recovered the ball on a number of occasions, turning us around quickly and was fowled probably more than any other player on the pitch. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I do hope that people are slowly starting to see what he can bring to our side. A brilliant performance.

He was wasteful once or twice in good positions but otherwise excellent.
He’s a top quality player. A real talent at 21!

Re: Hannibal
I think he's great, a real team player too.
Re: Hannibal
Easily his best game for us today. Interesting it came in the ‘Scott Arfield’ role - left midfield in a 4-4-2 but drifting inside.

Said to someone earlier in the season that Hannibal reminds me a bit of Arfield! He was able to add goals to his game (a knack of scoring important ones too) so if Hannibal can replicate that then there's some player at this level. Best performance of the season by a mile.

Re: Hannibal
He's still learning.
Today he was very, very good. For me, his best game yet.
But he has to learn to be far more subtle in his 'Barnsey Poo-House' role.

Easily his best showing of the season. Mostly good with the ball and excellent without it. So pleased for him after some of the stick he’s taken.
The role he played today suits him.

Been saying this for some time and I dont think it was a coincidence we looked a lot better in the two games he came back in for and as soon as he was left out of the team we looked a bit toothless againjdrobbo wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 5:35 pmI’ve seen a lot of super – negative comments about Hannibal in recent weeks. First time today when he looked like he might be able to play a part this season. Parker may have found a position for him where he doesn't have to be that creative but can still be effective

Re: Hannibal
I also made the Arfield comparison. I thought he played that role terrifically today and he showed both a real team ethic but also game intelligence to hold his width on the left for the most part to open up the pitch for others, but when he did come inside he showed his ability to play neat 1 touch football.
He's not a creative '10' in the mould of a Gudmundsson, but on days like today when there's a little bit of space you exploit, he's a very good player.

Re: Hannibal
His best performance by far and involved in both goals with some neat play.
Still far too wasteful in possession and often chose the wrong option. Cullen was flawless, Laurent and Brownhill excellent but they don’t get anywhere near the credit they deserve compared to Hannibal.

Without doubt his best game for us so far. His energy, intensity and willingness to press are infectious in the team and raise our game. He just needs to improve his final ball and he will become a key player in the team.

Re: Hannibal
Cullen was probably the closest to Hannibal in terms of performance level today but the whole team was good today for sure.
Hannibal draws a lot of fouls due to his ball carrying and good footwork. When he develops his decision making he will reach another level.

Re: Hannibal
Think the reason they don’t get the credit today is that they are pretty much consistently performing around 8/10 every gameAlan Young wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 6:25 pmHis best performance by far and involved in both goals with some neat play.

Hannibal hadn’t had “that” game where he and a full performance before today so it stood out more

Re: Hannibal
Played really well. Showed some great dribbling skills, won possession, deceptively quick and that double flick was out of this world.
Re: Hannibal
I thought it was something of a negative selection, to start with Hannibal, but I was wrong. He was superb today - best display he’s put in for us.
He doesn’t always make the right decision and can be wasteful on occasion, but he’s a young lad and there’s lots more to come from him.

Re: Hannibal
Good game. He abd Laurent are a must against types of teams like Watford. Sheffield will be rhe same. Git it right today did Parker.

Re: Hannibal
Concentrating on playing football instead of getting involved in the non-football tripe makes a hell of a difference to his game. Easily his best performance for us and probably any of his other clubs.
Re: Hannibal
Interesting that his decision making is questioned, he made 2 great decisions that led to both goals. He’s not perfect, no young players are.
Thought him and Humphreys worked well together down the left.
Really pleased for Hannibal, gets unnecessary criticism on here from those who think he’s just a hothead who wants to get involved. Excellent performance today, the Watford ex player on comms praised him on how he finds space. He also provides energy, breaks play up and important part of a press. Last week at Norwich the commentators made a comment about how much time the home team spent in their own half after we had scored. Part of that was down to Hannibal, doesn’t give them time on the ball and quick and willing to close down areas of space.
Also have to laugh at whiners on here who criticised the team selection of the 4 midfielders , thought some of the passing and patterns were the best we’ve had all season.

Re: Hannibal
Hannibal showed he can play on the half and is good at finding space going out to in and if we give him the ball he has vision other don’t.
Without a doubt Brownhill playing and staying higher up today helped us too and Cullen wow he was as good as I have ever seen him so positive on the ball.
We been crying out for a technical wide player who can link drop and play, we found him not knocking anybody all 11 out a shift in today and what an enjoyable performance.
Hannibal, has always had the touch energy and desire now he has a position where he has a bit of freedom to express himself.
We played a lot more though today instead of around and it worked

Excellent today. Much better than Koleosho out wide. Instant control, good awareness (beautiful set for the winning goal) energy, pace, direct running. Very good.
Re: Hannibal
Super game. Super attitude.
He should be given an assistant for the 2nd goal, as it was his nifty work which got the ball down the line!

Re: Hannibal
He was fantastic yesterday. He hasn’t impressed me this season, but that performance showed what he offers. I really liked him in that position, offered us a lot back to front and I can absolutely see the suggestion of him looking ‘Arfield-ish’ in that sort of role.

Re: Hannibal
From TV or Clarets+ I've seen all our matches and am one of those who has often criticised Hannibal, mostly for his stupid behaviour but also his lack of contribution to our team. I did of course realise that there must be more to him then that but I wasn't seeing it.
Against Watford he kept a lid on the stupid stuff and we saw what he can offer. He did seem to be targeted by Porteous but did not rise to the bait. I thought defensively he was a bit reactive rather then anticipating things but on the ball he looked quite slick at times. His involvement in both goals was very good and there was some good play generally.
I'm not getting carried away with that but if he keeps and improves on yesterday's standard I'll be well pleased with him.

Re: Hannibal
In the first half, the first thing I noticed was how much more solid we looked as a unit. Koleosho struggles when we are in a defensive shape, however Hannibal was excellent in both pressing and blocking off passing lanes. Did a few flicks that didn't come off, but also a few more which were premier league class. I'd like so see him given a run in that position, especially with the tricky games coming up.

Easily his best game yesterday. Decision making still a bit erratic in places, but he had an excellent game overall.
