Team for Blackburn
I was hoping today that Luca and Pires would show something more but sadly, they aren't looking up to it.
My team -
---------Traff
Roberts-CJ-Esteve-Humpreys
------Cullen-Laurent
Anthony--Flemming--Sarmiento
---------Foster
On to deadwood. UTC.

Re: Team for Bastards...
I’d say it’s pretty much guaranteed to be the one v Boro & Sheff but Sarmiento for Hannibal off the left.

Just realised I left Brownhill out.
Yes, the team you said RV, but with Foster coming off the left. UTC.

Re: Team for Bastards...
I’m not sure he’s deemed as fit enough to start yet. The recent formula of the 4-4-2/4-2-3-1 with Brownhill pushing higher and the left midfielder drifting inside has worked, so back to that I think.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:06 pmIf thats the case, I'd have Foster off the left instead.

Sarmiento is like Koleosho he’s just runs across the pitch and very little end product, would pick the 10 that finished today and Cullen.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:04 pmI was hoping today that Luca and Pires would show something more but sadly, they aren't looking up to it.

He's scored a few vital goals this year! Better in the build up as well... we're desperately lacking quality in the final third though, that's for sure.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:12 pmSarmiento is like Koleosho he’s just runs across the pitch and very little end product, would pick the 10 that finished today and Cullen.

Re: Team for Bastards...
Sarmiento always looks to be trying too much and too hard most of the time. He certainly can create but we don’t have the movement ahead or around him either to make it easier for him.

I hope that people on here (and more importantly, those responsible for picking the team) realise that Rodriguez should be nowhere near the squad let alone the starting line up.
Team picks itself after that…

Re: Team for Bastards...
More than happy for it to be the side which started against Sheffield United and Middlesbrough. (Minus Hannibal of course.) I just really hope they're up for it. If we play like we did against Sheffield United then there shouldn't be any problems. But Rovers might be licking their lips.

This part of the team is nailed on, it's how the rest of side is made up. Until Hannibal had a brain fart, the team was almost certainly going to be the side that we had seen in the previous couple of away games.
I'd expect the only change from Sheffield United and Middlesbrough to be Sarmiento in for Hannibal.
Rovers lost another player today with Yuki Ohashi going off injured, he may well miss the game on Saturday.

Certainly on last night's performance, he wasn't the only poor one, but I swear I never heard his name on commentary at all in the first half.

Barnes to come on alongside Flemming if we’re chasing the win with 30 to go.

Love Jay, but in all honesty he's the nearest thing to walking football youre going to see ...probably manages to hold the ball up a split second longer than Flemm or Foster...but that really isn't saying much.AmbleClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:38 amCertainly on last night's performance, he wasn't the only poor one, but I swear I never heard his name on commentary at all in the first half.

Jay, you can’t pick yourself.
I think i can confidently predict that after this weekend utterly inept display, this will be the only reply that selects JR to play.
He’s done. Thanks Jay, but if you really love Burnley, hang the boots up and give us a chance….

This is a game for the extra midfielder, and whilst you can argue either way between Sarmiento and Koleosho, I thought Koleosho was more effective on Wednesday and provides more natural balance - I'm not convinced at all by Sarmiento playing off the left wing. I'd also like to see Koleosho on the left now Egan Riley has really found his passing range - he's got the ability to spring Koleosho in behind which should add an extra string to our bow (and because he's got more angle to work with, it's an easier pass for Egan Riley if Koleosho is on the left than if he's on the right, which is one reason I thought the wide men were the wrong way round on Wednesday).

Re: Team for Bastards...
Koleosho in for Hannibal and on the left not right, otherwise the Boro team.
The horse lovers will try and fly at us, I don’t see them being too disciplined at the back, a bit like Leeds away. Could suit Luca down to the ground and a winner in this would do his confidence the world of good, that is the big picture.

Re: Team for Bastards...
Think up to the front 3 the team pretty much picks itself. We cannot go to Ewood and start Koleosho with the form he is in. Would be delighted to be proven wrong but it’s not the right game for him

Off the bench with some experienced heads if we get to a point where we need to see it out with Egan and Worrall

Re: Team for Blackburn
Cullen and Laurent as the midfield two feels the most important part of any line up for tomorrow, in my opinion. I think Rovers have got some midfielders out but regardless of that, we should be winning the midfield battle and Cullen/Laurent give us the best chance to do that.

Ohashi is now missing for them and Cantwell is a big doubt, they are missing a few key players with any luck
