It's like watching a 90 minute slow motion replay!! Top 2? I don't think so.

He was terrible today, I don’t understand what’s wrong with him, took him 60 mins to run forward with the ball and put a cross inNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:21 pmKoleosho is pushing him close this season.

He’s a shadow of the player he once was. File Alongside Deli Alli as a player that has had one of the biggest drop offs ever.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:23 pmHe was terrible today, I don’t understand what’s wrong with him, took him 60 mins to run forward with the ball and put a cross in
I would go as far as saying I am not even sure he’s worthy of being on the bench at the moment

All on Parker today.
You’ll never get anything putting out a reserve side in the Championship.
Took him until the 80th minute to put out the team he should have started with.

Why did we wait till getting a man sent off before showing any semblance of urgency? Mind boggling
Remember last season when we had our worst ever season at home in our history and we said " oh well at least we'll see some goals in the championship"
That's four 0-0 draws at home now
Mind you, it doesn't help when we were carrying Jay, koleosho and pires for most of the game.

Parker and the players get the plaudits when they play well so are they supposed to get the same when we have one shot on target ,surely if fans aren’t welcome to come on this board and critice a poor performance it may as well just be Scott Parker appreciation society.
Re: Burnley vs Stoke - Matchday thread
hahaha, comparing the careers of Dele Alli and LK. That's a good one. Alli was successful before his drop off; LK hasn't had a career yet so no drop off; he's just a very average player.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:26 pmHe’s a shadow of the player he once was. Re: Burnley vs Stoke - Matchday thread
Anthony has been playing very well on the right and the only reason I can see for playing him left today was because he also started with Pires, expecting the overlap. Koleosho was shocking on the right , but to play him on the left with Pires behind him would also have been a mistake . Humphreys would have been a different story so I think Parker was at fault today with that.
Koleosho needs to be coached into when to release the ball, so many times today he just ran into people .
Very frustrating indeed again today.
If anyone can explain why Foster played as the 10 and Flemming 9 when we had 11 men then that’s be great.

The fact that during the match, this thread only got to 6 pages only emphasises how lackluster and uninteresting our games are at the moment.

Re: Burnley vs Stoke - Matchday thread
Too many changes and I’m convinced he thought he could just put any team out today and we’d beat Stoke, which is fairly hilarious given how toothless we’ve been at home this season. Stoke didn’t even park the bus and we still had absolutely no idea how to break them down.dougcollins wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:26 pmAll on Parker today.

The game played out exactly like I thought it would from five minutes onwards.

Re: Burnley vs Stoke - Matchday thread
Well half way through and we have found a way to play away from home , that will see you win more or less more games (or at least not lose).
Issue is at home where the onus is on us to win. were playing as if we’re the away side. It wont work. I genuinely think Parker’s meant to go attacking today. - jay pires kolesho, Taylor, Sarmiento. But truth was very little to no crosses were put into the box. No creativity as players over play the position or possession.
On paper we have 5 attacking strikers jay - foster houtonji - Fleming - Sarmiento. But literally no supply from the wings on a consistent basis.
Taylor and koelsho supply is an issue , as is pires and humphries. I exclude roberts as today you could make an argument that the two best half chances fell to him and he does whip a ball in.
I’m not sure Parker’s knows how to get round that as he’s always had a solanke or mitrovic at previous clubs and wingers like knockaert, cavaliero , tavernier and dembelle .
He needs to find the solution or mix it up and play two up at home. But decent supply will still be an issue

It’s the same noisy mob baying after the boro game when certain people dared having the temerity to even slightly criticise. We’ll smash stoke & all will be well was the response or something along them lines. You are expected to have a song & a dance & shout from the rooftops after positive performances/results & be stonily silent when things aren’t so great. No middle ground.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:29 pmParker and the players get the plaudits when they play well so are they supposed to get the same when we have one shot on target ,surely if fans aren’t welcome to come on this board and critice a poor performance it may as well just be Scott Parker appreciation society.

I think one of the commentators said Burnley are only averaging per game something like 3.5 shots on target

Re: Burnley vs Stoke - Matchday thread
We've got a big squad and I expected some rotation today with the rush of fixtures right now, but managers make their living by getting those things correct. Parker got it very wrong today unfortunately.

Humphreys and Laurant are 2 big strong guys and should be playing every game.

Absolutely there should be praise and criticism where it's deserved. I make criticisms but I think I'm fair when I do so.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:29 pmParker and the players get the plaudits when they play well so are they supposed to get the same when we have one shot on target ,surely if fans aren’t welcome to come on this board and critice a poor performance it may as well just be Scott Parker appreciation society.

That had to be the performance of the season for me. Stunning. Full of vim, vigour and energy. All of the players looked like theyd been playing together for centuries. There was just a bristling confidence to the amount of times we looked to get in behind them or get a cross in and literally the first thing our players had in mind when they received the ball was 'how can I progress the ball forwards, quickly. How can we move Stoke around?'
This energy seeped into the crowd which fed an incredibly feisty and raucous atmosphere.
Chance after chance we made. God only knows how we didn't put ten past them, just one of them days where your lucks out eh?
Had a proper stern calling out in the wake of my comments on the last game so I popped over to Turkey for a quick personality transplant.

Not at all, I just want to fully embrace the mindset of being relentlessly positive. It's very freeing

Re: Burnley vs Stoke - Matchday thread
When I saw our starting eleven I thought it looked lightweight and unbalanced in midfield and upfront. When I saw our wingers were playing on the wrong wings and Brownhill was playing alongside our back four I was even more confused. I don't mind rotation of the squad but not when you seem to be experimenting with players in their wrong positions. A disastrous team selection and tactics lost us the chance to take three valuable points today. Did we have our first shot on target in the last couple of minutes today?
Re: Burnley vs Stoke - Matchday thread
The sad thing is we were poor today, its fine to say when it's true.
The people claiming there is some sort of happy clappy stuff are the ones who unsurprisingly say we are poor when we aren't- then jump on a poor showing as if to say we told you so.
