Urgency !
Urgency !
I was hoping for a solid, winning performance but at the back of my mind I anticipated a turgid goalless affair. My main gripe is the complete lack of urgency from all the players when we are at home. It absolutely baffles me why we play at walking pace with no attempt to get the ball up and into the opposition box. I think I can only recall us playing half decent at Turf Moor once all season and that was the Watford game. There has been far too many boring, dreary games for my liking and I am at a loss as to why this occurs all the time on home soil.

Re: Urgency !
Makes me wonder if Mr Negativity would rather go into the record books as the team conceding the lowest goals ever in a 46 game season than making a genuine attempt at winning promotion. UTC

Re: Urgency !
The little things really irk me. Couple of time the ball went out for a throw, Anthony to his credit was looking to take the throw quickly but Roberts just strolled off to get the spare ball off the cone.

One thing I noticed massively today is that when Stoke gave the ball away in a bad area, we didn't go and Try to immediately punish the mistake. We would recycle the ball and get back in safe control of it, in the meantime Stoke were able to get their organisation back.

We practice keeping possession and a clean sheet in training every day.
The art of trying to score a goal is on the agenda for later in the season. Not sure when.

Which bit of 2nd in the league , unbeaten in 12? with only 2 defeats all season troubles you so?winsomeyen wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:47 pmMakes me wonder if Mr Negativity would rather go into the record books as the team conceding the lowest goals ever in a 46 game season than making a genuine attempt at winning promotion. We’re second. In arguably the toughest league to get out of in the world.winsomeyen wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 6:10 pmIf you are happy watching that crap I suggest you lay off the ?????
How can you moan? Would you rather you were entertained and we sat 14th?
Re: Urgency !
It's the final shot/pass/cross. Even with the lack of urgency and intensity today, we were still able to get in some really good positions which were consistently wasted. Seems all composure disappears. How many shots went high, wide and handsome today? How many crosses hit the first man? I lose count.

Re: Urgency !
These players would be better than 14th if they tried some attacking football, especially against the bottom half of the league. We're averaging less than 2 points per game in home games against the bottom half. If perhaps we change the plan slightly and risk conceding in hopes of scoring, perhaps we might improve the average.
Besides, what are we playing for, and what are we watching for? If we are happy to put up with desperately dull football, what do we expect to gain from it? Do we expect thrills and excitement in the PL? Or will it be an even more boring season with relegation, so that we can have another boring season of promotion?

You don’t think fans are allowed to moan about poor performances at home to teams in the bottom 3rd of the league.
Regardless of our current league position, fans are allowed to be disappointed with certain results

Season ticket holder here.
I pay to be entertained I pay to be made to watch on the edge of the seat. I pay to see close calls. I pay to see us have a go.
Watching us play walking football with naff all shots on target, to watch Luca, cut in and run into his 30th dead end of the season, with no hope of him being told to try something different,
To see all our attacking players static with their back to goal and no hope of breaking the lines is deeply disappointing.
I’ve wondered and worried if I’m becoming ‘entitled’.
I’ve wondered if I simply need to be more patient - VK needed time to get the team up to speed. Maybe SP needs more patience.
I do try to be a balanced fan.
But my God, this:
we’ll pass it round the back for 80 minutes before they start to look remotely rushed and its ok if we dont have a shot on target until 80 mins plus because ‘it’s ok, it’ll come’
without one player breaking the lines or attempting to break the lines, and gifting the opposition time to reset once loosing the ball by passing all the way back to Trafford
Without the team or Parker realising that EVERY team arriving at Turf Moor sees a nil-nil as a victory and we need to be starting with a mentality that we’re really 1-0 down at KO and allowing the pedestrian tempo
Is making me absolutely despair. The argument that we’re top 3 doesnt wash to the fans turning up for every home game.

Have you looked at the League table ... Sheff U doing what they do best bottling it ... Leeds similar ... yes today was a sh*t show at times ... but 1st of Jan abd we are 2nd ... we are unbeaten in 12 & 3 points behind a team who we have beaten in their back yard and have to come to TM... after last season betcha would've snapped folks hands off for that.winsomeyen wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:47 pmMakes me wonder if Mr Negativity would rather go into the record books as the team conceding the lowest goals ever in a 46 game season than making a genuine attempt at winning promotion.
