I hadn't realised that the younger players had been "bottling it" in any games this season.
They haven't. It's not April or May yet.

Whilst i understand Barnes will add a bit to the group.
We have Cullen, Roberts, Brownhill, Rodriguez and Anthony as regulars who have all won promotion out of the league, Ekdal, Foster and Benson too, even CJ was here. As well as a manager.

So that's when they start to bottle it. You show little faith in these very good young players. Have we even given up points from a winning position so far? (I haven't checked).
There are far too many assumptions and presumptions on this thread, mostly to back up the hero status of one returning former player.
I sincerely hope this signing works out.

I don’t think Ash will play 90 mins but one thing is for sure when he’s on the field he will guarantee you 120%
That more than some of our players we have

I've just finished watching SAS Rogue Heroes, then the news of Barnsey's return popped up, how apt!

My only fear for Ash is that all this hype around his return and the fixture itself, may rev him up too much. I don't see a Kevin Ball incident, but someone needs to keep him focussed.

Sadly, if he was involved in a Kevin Ball style incident, there would be people who would see him as even more of a hero, even if it cost us the game.

That's the mentality of some people.

So we have signed a has been who may get a 20 miin cameo in the occasional match bcause he will unify the dressing?
More evidence someone in the club hasn't a clue about football.
If SP sanctioned this he loses any respect as a a manager.

despite the criticism from some on here, most of us understand what a player like Ashley Barnes means to a club.
Regardless of his previous or post Burnley links, whilst he was here he carved out a well deserved reputation as a 100% committed player.
He has something that all supporters love, passion, a hatred of losing, and a spirit that somehow transcends the barrier from the pitch to the stands.

The people being negative about this signing are the ones who haven't a clue about football

What a ridiculous comment, I can see Barnes being an integral part of the coaching staff soon….also it’ll put the shivers up Blackburn lol

You can't fake that. Welcome home Ash.

I'd have put him on the pitch, if only for 2 minutes

Then again, I know rock all about being a manager

Since 2014, Burnley have won every game against Blackburn when Ashley Barnes has been at the club.

The only time they failed to beat Blackburn in this period was when he played for Norwich.

And people say we shouldn’t have brought him back? 😍🔥

Just received a message from a Norwich-supporting friend:

"Apparently Barnesy's family never moved away, in an interview he said he'd really been missing them. I believe a coaching job is on the cards I liked him for us, always gave 100% and really helped the youngsters."

Sorry if it was common knowledge re. his family.

Those who seem to think that Ash is some sort of dinosaur who can only offer shithousery cannot have seen him in the VK promotion season. In the early games he was like a fish out of water, but he obviously got his head down, learnt the system, and had a super second half of the season. He's an intelligent footballer and should be respected as such.

I remember him doing a step over at Millwall! Was brilliant. He changed the game for Norwich in one of his last games. Great positioning, held off a defender and laid the ball off that led to a late equaliser. Top player to have from the bench.

Didn’t he live Wilslow way where most of our players did and joined with Westy sharing a mini bus?

Peak Barnes had a killer first touch, and took his chances early with accuracy and velocity.

Caught out many keepers who'd hardly moved when the ball hit the net.
