He looked better at the Turf. Thought he carried some edge to his play. He's quick enough and loves a scrappy fight balls. Sure he could learn loads off Barnes.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:03 amI’d be amazed if we aren’t amongst the clubs looking at Cannon. Ticks a lot of boxes. Cannon to me looked like he liked a bit of a tussle , can hit off both feet and was pretty mobile. Given that we don’t give a great deal away there wasn’t too much else to read from him in this game but there’s not many to pick from on our shores at the moment .

Sell Tresor, give Jay Rod a free and loan out Hountondji.
Then bring in Philogene and Cannon.

As I’ve stated on a few threads, one of the key reasons to keep Jay Rod is every championship club has to name a home grown at club player in their match day squad or you can only name 8 subs. We only have Jay Rod and Owen Dodgson who class as home grown at club playerbillyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 7:27 pmSell Tresor, give Jay Rod a free and loan out Hountondji.

We’re apparently interested in Antwerp winger Jacob Ondrejka. 7 goals and 4 assists this season, no idea on fee.

Not sure if mentioned, but Leeds seem to still be interested in Tresor. I can actually see him moving there - deciding he now wants to play - and being brilliant for them.

It looks like a good profile - the sort of player we should target (just like we have with Sonne). I think the Scandinavian market is a good one for us.

My reply, yet again, is that a young up and coming forward or even Dodgson should be on the bench.
Are we going to put JR on a new 5 year contract so that we can keep this supposed extra player advantage?
Dodgson must be gutted.

No idea, I'm no expert as alluded to above.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 9:25 pmhighly unlikely, but could we put Richardson on the bench?
I'm sure many on here would have said Egan Riley wasn't good enough to start games for us at the start of this season, or even get on the bench.
Dodgson had a similar loan to ER in Scotland.
With young players you never know until they are given the opportunity.
To keep a young player like Dodgson hanging around twiddling his thumbs to cover for a 35 year old, who might get injured, seems far fetched to me, rather than send him out on loan for his own development.
If it is true then that's extremely poor man/player management.
I'm also sure the younger players won't be on £20k+ a week.

No it’s two different things, there has to be a number of home grown players in the 25 man squad but there also has to be a ‘home grown at club between 18-21’ in every match day squad.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 10:28 pmJust checked up on it but I couldn’t post the attachment but homegrown means in England and Wales not the actual club your playing for.

Jacob Bruun Larsen wants to leave TSG Hoffenheim in the winter. According to 'Sky', the club would not stand in his way. Under coach Pellegrino Matarazzo, he plays a minor role this season, with only 110 minutes in the league. Larsen changed his agent recently to force a move in the winter. His contract with Hoffenheim ends in the summer, suggesting a departure by then at the latest.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Cannot see that Trafford rumour being true.
Why would we loan him for a start? If we’re going to sell it’d be to get money in now to strengthen.
Also why would we sell a key part of a defence in a promotion push for £9m more than we paid. Holding on and selling in summer would be a much better idea and he’d go for a lot more if we got promoted.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
This makes zero sense so is probably nonsense. If we get rid of first team players we won’t be giving them away for free for six months, we’ll want payment (or at least a big part of it) now. He’s not out of contract so if Newcastle don’t want to pay until the summer then he stays until the summer!Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:07 pmSeen a Twitter link suggesting Trafford to Newcastle is imminent

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
The loan thing won’t make any difference to us because I imagine Pace would immediately get a McQuarrie loan to factor the transfer fee as ‘up front’ now.
Worrying if we’re having to sell players of his importance in this window - he would be worth no less in the summer. Cash flow an issue?

Not saying he won’t move but that deal can’t be correct no way we loan our goalkeeper out with what’s at stake. Money would need to be silly as well £25 mill is no where near needs to be similar to what Pickford went for!Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:23 pmhttps://x.com/magpiemediax/status/18756 ... cYMQnkX92A

Finances won’t have changed that much now as in the summer, if we were in that much trouble we would have sold Trafford to Newcastle for 20m in the summer.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:57 pmThe loan thing won’t make any difference to us because I imagine Pace would immediately get a McQuarrie loan to factor the transfer fee as ‘up front’ now.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
We can afford to pay £2 million a year to have the extra older player on the bench, rather than a young up and coming player as according to this JR is joint second wage earner on £40k per week.
We must have money to burn, finances are obviously rosy.
If we don't go up it will be a very different story.
This is no disrespect JR who has been a brilliant servant, but £40k a week?
JR and Redmond need to be given frees to get them off the wage bill and save a small fortune.
Burnley's top 5 earners (estimated figures from Capology)
- Player
- Weekly salary (£)
- Josh Brownhill - 45,000
- Jay Rodriguez - 40,000
- Josh Cullen - 40,000
- Nathan Redmond - 35,000
- Joe Worrall - 35,000

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Surely Trafford stays unless it’s silly money at this stage.
I don’t consider £25m silly money either. Not for him. Stick another £10m at least. His value is only going to increase from here with the way he’s playing, and if promoted we’ve already got our keeper. Ramsdale went for £30m and that was years ago.

I haven't checked back on here but twitter is saying we are signing M Sangare and then sending him on loan to Dundee.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Agree with your first statement but those players will cost money
Who are the 5 already ok for the Premier League ?
Trafford, Esteve - sure
Egan Riley - unknown, Brownhill - likely to leave
Cullen - really struggled last time with lack of pace, height and strength and same would be said for Laurent and Foster
We are holding our own in the Championship but this side would need a major overhaul if we went up
Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich are showing that this year and if we played any of them next week we would be hard pressed to win - not having a go, merely being realistic based on what we saw two seasons ago
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Selling Trafford now wouldn’t be a smart move. Why would we risk disrupting statistically the best defence in English football? If we stop the clean sheets, we stop winning games. How many times have we scored more than 1 goal this season?

If Traff goes he has to be £40m we gave Pope away and don't want a repeat another option is Barnes and £30m
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Would you take Pope and 30m?
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
In my opinion some continuity would be the way to go after recent overhauls. We'll need some better players quite obviously, but I think our budget would be better utilised with 3/4 quality additions rather than 8/9 of a lesser standard.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:14 amAgree with your first statement but those players will cost money

Don’t know whether there’s anything in it and at this stage I wouldn’t be wanting to change our keeper, but I wouldn’t read too much in to the loan part. It will just be for accounting purposes. It’s what Millwall were probably thinking when we got Flemming and Genk when we got Tresor (OK, bad example!!).NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:47 pmCannot see that Trafford rumour being true.
