A video on X:
https://x.com/OfficialVizeh/status/1875850610467344850
Should be able to view without an account.
It's probably just a typo but a quick grammar point in case you didn't know:
Who's = "Who + is"
For example, "Zian Flemming is a footballer who's a Burnley player" = "Zian Flemming is a footballer who is a Burnley player."
"Whose" refers to belonging as in, "Who does this belong to?"
For example, "Whose shoes are these?"
An easy way to check which one to use in written English is to ask if it can be changed to two words: "Whose" cannot be changed to "who is" because "Who is shoes are these?" doesn't make sense. If it still makes sense when you change it to two words then it's "who's".
Re: We’ll sing this song forever
Thanks Rowls, I take your point. I just looked back at what I had typed and Rowls was now reading as Rowling. Just shows, it’s best to re check, what has been typed.
I will pass on your advice to Cape Town Claret.

Re: We’ll sing this song forever
Lol. It obviously doesn't matter to a certain extent on a messageboard on the internet - we all knew what you meant. My grammar and spelling isn't perfect.
But, not knowing who you are 'in real life', thinking you might be a student or young whippersnapper I thought i'd make sure you knew. It will matter in certain circumstances.

I used to throw away CVs with poor spelling and grammar. Not because these skills were needed for the job but because they showed the person hadn't double checked their work.

Re: We’ll sing this song forever
Good song and sounded great on Saturday -well done to all those who were there singing it.
A Burnley song I liked that was sung a lot during the season under Stan in The Championship when we were in the mix for promotion for most of it (but ultimately just missed out on finishing in the top 6).
To the tune of Hey Baby by Bruce Chanel (or DJ Outzi)
Hey, hey, Burnleee, oooh, aaah
I wanna know, woa, woa, woa
If we're going up!
(Repeated a few times)
Would be appropriate for this season too

I am sure I heard that one for the 1st time at Hillsborough that season (am sure it was a night match but memory might be a bit hazy....) a small group of Lads started singing it and it quickly spread around the stand.Vintage Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 6:25 pmGood song and sounded great on Saturday -well done to all those who were there singing it.

Re: We’ll sing this song forever
I think this is a brilliant song, and it was great to belt it out at Deadwood on Saturday.
I do think the end could be improved, though.
People don’t seem to know whether they’re supposed to be singing “olé olé olé, etc” or “allez allez allez, etc.”
Why not replace that line with “We are Burnley, We are Burnley”
(It could be pronounced either was, “Bu urnley” or “Burnaley”.
Thoughts ?

Spot on. Introduced because they’d dropped two divisions below us. It’s laughable that they play it now.Blue Skies wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 9:35 pmThe No Nay Never came from the Longside in the early/mid 70s as Rovers slid to the old Division 3. Boxcar and his gang came up with the words with songsheets. Ken Furphy in the pub and Billy Bancroft sweeping Burnley's Longside. The irony now is Rovers have it has their entrance music played on their PA system.

Yes, loved it when we sang it on Saturday. And you could tell they hated it, and really grinded their gears.

Re: We’ll sing this song forever
Ask somebody from Burnley their hometown and the reply is Bernli.
The two that need reviving are “when you’re smiling” and the long continuous “Buuurrrnnnllleeeyy”, that could go on for 10minutes or longer or until we scored. In the Dobo era we usually scored. The benefit was when all the Longside was doing it you could sneak a breath.

‘You’re going home in a f***ing ambulance’ was a regular one in the early eighties.

I've seen they said we were quiet...... I think they should book in for a hearing test. You'd have been able to hear that noise at Darwen Tower, Belthorn Village and Feniscowles.

Thanks for the clips mybloodisclaret, which I will message to Cape Town Claret. I’ve just watched them and I’m still as joyous as I was, watching the later showing of the match.
FCBurnley, I might have been in our young youth, but we were so busy creating our own football pitch/ground. Making goal posts and scrounging onion bags from the local greengrocer, which we fashioned into goal nets. That at a time we were crowned 1st Div Champions. Some clue of my age there for you Rowls

3-2-1-4
Who 4 why 4
Who the hell do you think we’re for?

I reckon it was Birmingham - I think Glen Little scored 2 crackers down the far end, and it was sung for most of the 2nd half.

That game at Brum was a cracking away match too ... My mate was working in MK at the time and we arranged to meet at the ground. I travelled down to Brum on The BFC Supporters Club coach, then we were travelling back in his car.
In the ground I found him chatting to a bloke on the concourse and the bloke shoved a bit of grit under my nose when I introduced myself ... "Lancashire Cheese ... I have carried that bit to every game since 1974" I struggled to contain my laughter and he wondered off doing the same to several other Clarets on the concourse

Such a pity we never signed Bobby Zamora. I guess it was QPR or Fulham who came up with...
When you're up in row Z
And the ball hits yer head
Its Zamora
It never sounded the same with Steve Davis

Re: We’ll sing this song forever
Walsall sing the Allez Allez Allez ohh song, but have never heard of them singing this?
This tune was started by Italian side, L’Aquila, who were the first side to sing it, and is based on a mid-1980’s disco hit (edit: just found the song name - L’Estate Sta Finendo).
Napoli were certainly singing it before Liverpool, definitely Atletic Madrid too, and also Rangers in Scotland too with their “Every Saturday We Follow”.
Liverpool nicked it after one of their European games.
It’s a decent tune but lots of clubs use it now.

Tbf, Rowls, that particular song was a general thing throughout the juvenile world...school playground, local parks, street corners etc as well as occasionally on the terraces if the boys in blue were making their presence felt.

It would be interesting to hear three verses of Blackburn's version of No Nay Never. I haven't heard them singing Frank Teesdale sweeps Ewood's Riverside or seeing Brian Miller with all his money spent. It just isn't their song full stop. Neither is "Wings of an Angel", "Come to Ewood".

Re: We’ll sing this song forever
For some reason this struggles to really spread from the CFS when sung at home , though the allez allez is pretty sh1t .its the kind of song that works brilliantly ,BUT only once imo . Though there’s so few songs we sing these days , need to be grateful for anything really .
To think that we used to sing “ you’ll never walk alone “ in the early mid 80’s .
Can’t help Falling in love with you was a good chant back in the day
