Don’t know if CG’s the strong silent type but the number of times he got clattered on Saturday and didn’t lose his cool but shrugged it off was quite noticeable for such a young guy.agreenwood wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 8:37 amExactly. There’s so much luck involved in transfers. I doubt anyone really knew what we had in Egan-Riley. How could they? He’d barely played a senior game at CB. Had Worrall not been injured, Egan-Riley might have found himself loaned out in August or in this window.
Worrall may never establish himself here, but it doesn’t make him a bad player.

Didn't VK state himself, that you buy a dozen players and if 6 of them come good you've done well. Or something along those lines.KRBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 6:59 amRight, but you're saying backup goalkeepers and backup defenders for VK were failure signings but for Parker, they're required good signings.
Claiming backup goalkeepers and squad filler backup players as failure signings when they were signed for that reason Is illogical, the likes of Delcroix, Bastien and Vigeroux did exactly what they were signed for. Just like Egan and Hladky have been absolutely fine signings.
We've made some good profit on moving on the successes, but we need to move the also rans out quicker.
That said there would be many, not me, on this board, who would have CJER as one of those also rans. Prior to this season. When you have an inflated squad it's nigh impossible to put players in the shop window.

It would be almost impossible to get it right every time, as only so many players are given the chance to succeed.

I still feel Zeki Amoundi would have been a success in this seasons team.A class international who scores on a regular basis but like Zaroury if he wanted out there wasn't much we could do.It's a shame Magic Mike hasn't the good grace to leave too.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
YEP report on potential Trafford move to Newcastle offers interesting stats and food for thought on his possible move.
https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/ ... rd-4932903
Would Hladkey/ Greene be able to offer the same stability across our defence whilst our attack offers little potency?
Could have far reaching implications to our promotion push. I’m not Traffords biggest fan but it would seem to cause massive disruption at this juncture of the season that would warrant a transfer fee of in excess of £40 million to make the risk worthwhile??

Trafford is so highly thought of - the same hype as a young Pitchfork. We should be looking at £30m plus. Don't we only break even around £20m? Cut for MVity as well. What's the point in selling?
Newcastle already had their bargain in £10m for the best keeper in the prem.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Jacob Ondrejka can leave Royal Antwerp. Burnley are showing serious interest in the Swede, according to reports.
Jacob Ondrejka , 22, left Allsvenskan IF Elfsborg for Belgian Royal Antwerp in the summer of 2023.
The offensive winger has gradually developed into a key player.
Just before the turn of the year, Turkish Fotomac reported that Besiktas are showing concrete interest in the Swede.
Now the Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, who works for the transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, states that there could be a move to England.
Burnley are showing genuine interest in Ondrejka, according to the information.
Burnley are in second place in the Championship and fighting for promotion to the Premier League.
Ondrejka has scored seven goals and four assists in 20 league games this season.

Do you think we use AI Scout to sign first team players1989_claret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 11:21 amHountoundji another successful AI Scout signing. Bin it off and get back to going watching players in real life rather than using Champ Man.
It's mainly for youth players or young players without a club.
Do you think the club were telling targets like Hannibal etc to upload videos of them dribbling and shooting to the AI Scout app.

Wilder was briefly Watford manager in the season Choudhary was on loan there. He strikes me as a decent Championship player but not quite up to it at Premier League level , hence his sporadic Leicester appearances over the years.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 5:20 pmI think they might switch to a back 3 in some games, choudhury was great for Watford in a back 3

I agree about Choudray ,a decent Championship player but not regular Premier league standard
Personally, I don't fear any of our rivals for top spot as we have enough talent in our team already.

Thats a fair point but I just feel that Cullen is the only player we have capable of playing that midfield sitter role, in front of the back four. He barely misses a game for us or the Republic and he's one in particulsr I''d be giving a rest to for this game.burnleycclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 7:04 pm6 days between Reading and Sunderland so don't think it will be an issue. A scenario to see what people would do:
Would you take 30m for Trafford this window if it meant we can spend 20m on a new winger/attacking midfielder (that can be ten million each or 20m on one)

No, I’d think we should be keeping our back line solid by keeping h and finding sensible options to strengthen those positions - loans of premier league players with options to buy if promoted.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 7:38 pmA scenario to see what people would do:

I’d go as far to say as that’s what we should be doing even if we got £30m for him as well otherwise need that money next year.
