Arteta

Post by aclaretinstevenage » Wed Jan 08, 2025 9:10 am

I see on BBC Sport everyone's favourite Spaniard in whining about the ball used in the EFL Cup after they lost to Newcastle in the semi final 1st leg last night. Even their own fans are giving him pelters in the comments.

Such a classless knob.....shame as I liked him as a player.

He's getting (nearly) as bad as Wenger.

Klopp was the worst in recent years.

Seriously can't stand him, or Arsenal fans.

Shame as I quite like the club

I don’t think he’s “whining” at all. He’s just saying the ball moves differently and his players need to adapt better.
However that’s not to say I don’t find much of his touchline behaviour infantile and pathetic for a grown man.

Fast becoming the "nearly team" but not winning anything.

Just another example of the shadowy conspiracy by the Powers That Be against plucky Arsenal. Those rotters at the EFL insisting that they play with a match ball that they aren't used to, unlike their opponents.

Caught a bit of 'Captain Scarlet' at the weekend.

He really is Captain Black.

Possibly, odd though that he didn't mention the ball after the previous 3 rounds they won using the same ball.!

Dislike Arsenal and Arteta so finding it all very funny and hope it continues.
Funny how the ball was never an issue leading up to the semi final defeat

This from the bloke who supposedly had Liverpool (?) chants played on the training ground so that his players wouldn’t be overawed!

So, he can look at such fine details but he can’t get a dozen League Cup balls for his players to have a kick about with. OK!!

If he wanted to distract from their struggles then its job done.
Never seems to come under any pressure despite a pretty mediocre record.

I noticed that they had one of their coaches running up and down the sideline again. It's amazing how no-one has picked that up yet.

Arsenal better get used to the Puma ball fairly quickly - they are replacing Nike as Premier League ball suppliers next season.

Surprised he didn't complain about the grass. It looked too green to me.

He’s got a point - that ball is awfully round.

I love how they have all that talent, play the “right” way, yet rely so much on Pulis “bombard the box at set piece” tactics. Don’t know why the set piece guy doesn’t just take over.

Your right but why is Howe’s side kick Tindall not told about only one person being allowed in the technical area, he’s at it every game.

It is all very unfair!

Mr Artex has ensured that his pitch is made up precisely, with grass of a particular texture, which compliments the ball that is used usually. This precision has enabled his team to control play and while others flounder, his players - also with the perfect boots and studs, - skate across his perfect pitch.

You can imagine his horror at the underhand workings of the EFL when they produce a ball suited exactly to the boots used by Newcastle.

The grass couldn't cope. The Arsenal boots couldn't cope. Mr Artex couldn't cope. Blatantly unfair.

There should be a public enquiry.

In the words of Mr Artex, you can't just smooth this one over!

Has to be said they are damn good in the box from corners.

Arteta is clearly an excellent football coach no doubt about that. I have often wondered how good Arsenal could be if he spent more time coaching them as opposed to the countless inane interviews he gives to Sky Sports every week
